    Ethics of Remembering

Many communities today continue to be haunted by conscious and unconscious memories of past atrocities as they struggle to live with the legacies of brutality and related trauma. These dehumanising events are not just recent wars, violent intercommunal conflicts, genocides, apartheid, and forced displacement, but also more distant outrages, including the occupation of indigenous lands, enslavement, and colonialism. So the trauma was transmitted from one generation to the next, and the effects of dehumanisation are kept alive in our collective memory. In this context, this article explores remembering as beyond the cognition and beyond language. It draws on the normative theory of collective memory and pays attention to remembering as the embodied and the emotional, including the ways that potent sensations and sentiments might encapsulate the unspeakable and in-articulatable experiences of loss, grief and injustice. This allows a further investigation into how remembering the past brutality can transmit and reinforce our identity, relational orientations and actions. As what we remember and how we should remember the past can determine our experience of our dignity and well-being, this article proposes that it requires the ethics of remembering aimed at enriching the healing and transformative potential of collective memory, and inspiring our responsibilities for co-creating a just and humane world

This article characterizes and compares expressions of fat activism movements, distinguishing between the discourses of self-love and the proposals of collective fat activism. To do so, we analyze selected publications that circulated during the period 2018-2020 through Instagram by different accounts involved in discussions about body diversity in Argentina. We conclude that, although both expressions propose strategies that seek to subvert the oppressive canons of beauty and the regulatory norms of bodies, they differ in the aspects they problematize and the responsibilities they assign. Whilst the first movement appeals to the isolated individual through discourses of self-acceptance and body positivity, blames them for not loving themselves enough, and imposes on them the individual task of learning to love and accept themselves to escape from suffering; the second brings a collective proposal, which problematizes the social aspect of fatness. For the collective proposal, the responsibility lies within the society that systematically exercises violence upon fat people, pathologizing them, and the only possible solution is the political struggle together with others for a social and structural transformation.

This article analyzes the individual stories and collective experiences from members of the Uruguayan Agroecology Network. The theoretical approach highlights the link between political ecology and the sociology of bodies and emotions. It focuses on: the relationship between the productive-reproductive sphere; the relationship between the economic stages of production, distribution and consumption; the relationship with nature; community building and commonality and the Network's relationship with other organizations and with the state.  The understanding of the Network and its daily political activities allow us to reflect on the simultaneous dynamics between actions of autonomy and antagonism. This invites us to rethink the classic approach to social and socio-environmental movements as large organic, stable, hierarchical institutions, with elaborate and "consensual" discourses and actions faced with a clear "enemy" or specific demands on the State. The collective experience of the Network transforms the sensitivities of its protagonists, revaluing their modes of existence and their their relation between territories, expanding the antagonistic struggle to the defense and consolidation of autonomous processes, deploying strategies and practices that are against-and-beyond capital and neocolonial extractivism.

The accute increase of depression is a worldwide and complex phenomenon. Its understanding requires the mobilization of several areas of knowledge (Corbanezi, 2021). The objective of this article is less to present extensively the different denominations, aspects, definitions, and understandings concerning depression as a clinical entity, and more to register that they exist, with the intention of revealing, or briefly reiterating, the vast complexity of this area from the point of view of some theoretical bodies, in contrast with the, in our view, simplified and condensed description found in the current diagnostic manuals, especially in the current Disorder and Statistic Manual-DSM. We point to the current number of cases diagnosed as depression, considered of the epidemic order in which, however, a whole range of distinct affections are indistinctly condensed, in the current prevalent diagnostic version. Distinct ranges of sadness, mourning processes, and other affective and physical states clinically similar to those credited as depression, have been steadily increasing numbers that, according to the WHO, are expected to reach the first cause of work impairement by 2030. A projection, or a state of affairs that is still poorly understood and, therefore, as an epidemic, ungoverned?

On August 7, 2016 -San Cayetano's Day- the Confederation of Workers of the Popular Economy (CTEP), together with Barrios de Pie and the Classist and Combative Current (CCC), called for a massive mobilization to demand the passing of the social emergency law. The popular movements, grouped under the slogan "Peace, Bread, Land, Housing and Work", united in a sort of procession the more than thirteen kilometers that separate the church of Liniers -symbol of popular religiosity linked to the patron saint of labor- with the Plaza de Mayo -political center par excellence-. The article proposes an alternative and complementary approach to classical theories in the study of social movements. In line with the so-called "affective turn" in the social sciences, we highlight the role of emotions in social mobilization. We identify in fear and hope affective motivations that enable collective action, as well as the interrelation between the political and the religious, two spheres commonly considered separately.

This study aims to establish relationships between the construction of the body and sea bathing. This is a field research and the investigated group was composed of the reports of 10 subjects who frequently practice sea bathing at Ponta Negra beach, in the city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.  In view of the results, we identified that the benefits gained from sea bathing are not only related to organic aspects, but also to psychological and social aspects. In this sense, we emphasize the different senses awakened from the experience of sea bathing, from stress, purification of the body, to feeling free, beyond the deficiencies present in the body. Senses these enhancers of the body in its relationship with the environment and with others. In view of this, we believe that it is important to consider the different spaces that enhance bodily experiences, amplifying the reflection that subjects, in these practices, amplify their senses of existence as beings present in the world, in relation to the other. Thus, we point out the idea that sea bathing can be considered an educational experience that includes a technique of lightness and self-care. &nbsp
