Las emociones y los movimientos sociales: veinte años de teoría e investigación
Get PDFThe past 20 years have seen an explosion of research and theory into the emotions of protest and social movements. At one extreme, general theoretical statements about emotions have established their importance in every aspect of political action. At the other, the origins and influence of many specific emotions have been isolated as causal mechanisms. This article offers something in between, a typology of emotional processes aimed not only at showing that not all emotions work the same way, but also at encouraging research into how different emotions interact with one another. This should also help us overcome a residual suspicion that emotions are irrational, as well as avoid the overreaction, namely demonstrations that emotions help (and never hurt) protest mobilization and goals.Los últimos veinte años han asistido a un estallido en la investigación y la teoría sobre las emociones en la protesta y los movimientos sociales. Por un lado, algunas afirmaciones teóricas generales destacaron su importancia en diversos aspectos de la acción política; por el otro, se han reconocido los principios e influencia de ciertas emociones específicas como mecanismos causales. Este artículo ofrece algo intermedio: una tipología del proceso emocional orientada no solo mostrar que no todas las emociones funcionan de la misma forma, sino también a incentivar el estudio de cómo ellas interactúan entre sí. Esto debería también ayudar a superar una sospecha subyacente relacionada con que las emociones son irracionales, así como en el otro extremo evitar caer en una reacción exagerada, concretamente: que la manifestación de emociones siempre ayuda (y nunca perjudica) a la movilización y los objetivos de la protesta

Corpo, gênero, adolescência: discursos e (re)significações a partir da anorexia e da obesidade
Get PDFThe text aims to discuss issues related to the biomedical comprehension of eating disorders in adolescence and those ones related to the parents of the young girls diagnosed with these disorders, especially with anorexia/anorexia nervosa who try to understand and to take care. It aims to apprehend how the parents of the adolescents, diagnosed with anorexia, consider the normative discourse from the health professionals on body and how to take care of the adolescent and how they mean them in new/other ways or even escape from them due to the references from their sociocultural context. These reflections come from a current research that has been developed after a doctoral dissertation at the Federal University of São Paulo, UNIFESP, in Social Sciences. In relation to conclusions, it can be highlighted: the normative aspect of biomedical science; suffering of the family during the process of the disease; the search for taking care and for information about the anorexia; tensions in family relations, especially among parents and the young people considered to be ill; the search for partnership among health professionals and families in order to take care.O presente texto tem o propósito de discutir questões relacionadas à comrpeensão biomédica dos transtornos alimentares na adolescência e aquelas relativas à tentativa de compreendão e de cuidado, por parte dos pais das jovens diagnosticadas com esses transtoros, em especial, anorexia. Trata-se de apreender em que medida os pais de adolescentes, declaradas anoréxicas,tomam para si os discursos normativos dos profissinais de saúde sobre o corpo e o cuidado da adolescente e em que medida os re-significam ou, mesmo, deles se afastam, em razão de referências dadas pelo seu contexto sociocultural. Essas reflexões fazem parte de uma pesquisa de pós doutorado, em andamento, que está sendo desenvolvida na Universidade Federal de SãoPaulo, em Ciências Sociais. No referente às conclusões a serem apresentadas, podem ser destacados o caráter normativo da biomedicina; o sofrimento familiar no percurso da doença, na procura de cuidado e de informação sobre a anorexia; as tensões apresentadas nas relaçoes familiares, especialmente entre pais e os filhos considerados doentes; a busca de parceria entreprofissionais de saúde e familiares, na construção do cuidado

Get PDFMan and woman, male and female: the social behavior of individuals is guided by dichotomies found in learned bodies and disciplined. Accordingly, the social roles of genre come to be sexual differentiation factors to guide the intelligibility of the bodies, through social constructions of aesthetic, functional and behavioral codes. The drag queen – represented as a body where the gender social roles are juxtaposed – introduces, through performance, the possibility of re-mean fixed relations between gender, body and sex. While individual who operates in the transformation of their aesthetic and behavioral gender roles, the drag allows thinking a denaturalization of ties involving these concepts. Different from the transvestite and transsexual, the drag queen questions the fixity of issues "heteronormativas" through a performative Act where the body acquires female specific signs and applies to a male body, becoming "queer". The experience of the body drag represents a possibility to check the time that the normative relationship between body, sex and gender into deconstruction, resulting in a hybrid body. The article purports to reflection on the formation of male/female dichotomy and the production of performative drag bodies.Homem e mulher, feminino e masculino: o comportamento social dos indivíduos é norteado por dicotomias que encontramos em corpos aprendidos e disciplinados. Nesse sentido, os papéis sociais de gênero vêm a ser fatores de diferenciação sexual, de forma a orientar a inteligibilidade dos corpos, através construções sociais de códigos estéticos, funcionais e comportamentais. A drag queen -representada como um corpo onde os papéis sociais de gênero encontram-se justapostos – apresenta, através da performance, a possibilidade de ressignificar as relações fixas entre gênero, corpo e sexo. Enquanto indivíduo que opera na transformação estética e comportamental de seus papéis de gênero, a drag permite pensar numa desnaturalização dos laços que envolvem esses conceitos. Diferente do travesti e do transexual, a drag queen questiona a fixidez de questões “hetero-normativas” através de um ato performativo, onde o corpo adquire signos específicos do sexo feminino e aplica a um corpo masculino, tornando-se “queer”. A experiência do corpo drag representa uma possibilidade de verificar o momento em que a normatividade da relação entre corpo, sexo e gênero entra em desconstrução, resultando num corpo híbrido. Luchas simbólicas en la definición del cuerpo discapacitado legítimo en el origen e institucionalización del campo del deporte adaptado de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina (1950-1976)
Get PDFThis paper traces the origin and institutionalization phase of the field of adapted sports in the City of Buenos Aires in the period (1950-1976). To do this, starting with the conceptual tools provided by the theory of Pierre Bourdieu and prioritizing a qualitative approach the research process is performed content analysis of media produced by the first adapted sports clubs of the city and material produced by experts the local physiotherapy and sports adapted and indepth interviews the pioneers users and experts. Through this journey my main intention is to show, arguing with harmonica and mechanistic interpretations, that the consolidation of the philosophy adapted sport implicit in the current offer of the City has been the result of symbolic struggles over the definition of disability legitimate body and adapted legitimate sport in which disabled people have been active, contesting hegemonic way.En este trabajo reconstruyo la fase de origen e institucionalización del campo del deporte adaptado en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires en el período (1950-1976). Para ello, partiendo de las herramientas conceptuales brindadas por la teoría de Pierre Bourdieu y priorizando un abordaje cualitativo del proceso de investigación, realizo análisis de contenido de prensa escrita por los primeros clubes de deporte adaptado de la Ciudad y la fisiatría local y el deporte adaptado y entrevistas en profundidad a los pioneros usuarios y expertos. A través de este recorrido mi principal intención reside en mostrar, discutiendo con interpretaciones armonicistas y mecanicistas, que la consolidación de la filosofía del deporte adaptado implícita en la oferta actual de la Ciudad ha sido el resultado de luchas simbólicas por la definición del cuerpo discapacitado legítimo y del deporte adaptado legítimo en las cuales las personas con discapacidad han tenido un rol activo, tensionando, aceptando o resistiendo los sentidos hegemónicos
Corpos velhos e a beleza do crepúsculo: um estudo sobre os (re)significados da corporeidade na velhice
Get PDFThe aging population is nowadays a global phenomenon, so it becomes increasingly important to study the significances of the body in old age, as well as public policies for the elderly. The aims of this research were to understand the meanings the individuals give to the body during the aging process, analyze what kind of aesthetic the elderly attribute to their bodies today and investigate the body changes of individuals during their lives. To face these objectives with the depth the topic and methodology required, we selected a nucleus in a neighborhood of Fortaleza, with a population of 30 elderly people, where, for the interviews, we relied on a sample of six participants. It was found that the body works as a time frame where its main mark rest on young body image; also, that the beauty of the old body, re-signified by participants, is not linked solely to the conventional pattern, but to the issues of health, vitality, and above all a sense of wellbeing.O envelhecimento da população constitui-se hoje como um fenômeno mundial, assim, torna-se cada vez mais relevante o estudo que versa sobre os significados do corpo na velhice, bem como as políticas públicas destinadas aos velhos. Os objetivos do presente estudo foram compreender os significados que os sujeitos dão ao corpo durante o processo de envelhecimento; analisar que tipo de estética os velhos atribuem aos seus corpos atualmente; investigar as mudanças corporais identificadas pelos sujeitos durante suas vidas. A fim de contemplar os objetivos com a profundidade que o tema e a metodologia demandavam, selecionou-se um Núcleo do PSBS em um bairro de Fortaleza, com um universo de 30 velhos, onde, para as entrevistas, tomou-se por base a amostra de seis participantes. Constatou-se, pois, que o corpo funciona como um marco do tempo e o marcador fundamental é a imagem do corpo jovem; e que a beleza do corpo velho, ressiginificada pelos participantes, não está atrelada unicamente ao padrão convencional, porém à questão da saúde, da vitalidade e, sobretudo,da sensação de bem-estar
