The main pest that attacks sweet corn crops is the armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith. The armyworm S. frugiperda is harmful to sweet corn crops with an attack rate of 15-100%. Control of armyworm S. frugiperda in sweet corn plants generally still uses synthetic chemical insecticides because they can control pests quickly and practically. Biological control is an alternative method that can be used to overcome the impacts caused by the use of synthetic insecticides. The biological agent that has the potential to control plant pests is the entomopathogenic fungi Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch) Sorokin. The purpose of this research is to obtain the concentration of the local entomopathogenic fungi Metarhizium anisopliae (Metsch) Sorokin which is able to control the armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda J. E. Smith. The research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University from June to August 2020. The research was designed a completely randomized design with six treatments local entomopathogenic fungi concentrations M. anisopliae 0 g.l-1 water, 10 g.l-1 water, 20 g.l-1 water, 30 g.l-1 water, 40 g.l-1 water, 50 g.l-1 water, and four replications, to obtain 24 experimental units. The results showed that the use of the entomopathogenic fungi M. anisopliae (Metsch) Local Sorokin with a concentration of 30 g.l-1 water contains a conidia density 0.65 x 108 con.ml-1 is a concentration capable of controlling the armyworm S. frugiperda with total mortality of 82,50%.&nbsp

Soybean production in Indonesia has decreased year by year. This is caused by high rainfall potentially causing water-saturated land. This is due to heavy rain which can cause the water to become saturated. Implementation of drainage and groundwater depth control is expected to increase soybean productivity. The purpose of this study is to determine the best groundwater depth for growth, production and physiological quality of soybeans produced. The study was conducted at the Experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, the University of Riau from February to May 2019. The depth of the groundwater used was 5 cm, 10 cm, 15 cm, 20 cm, and control treatment. The parameters observed were plant height and number of nodes, flowering age, age of harvest, number of seeds per plant, dry weight of seeds per plant, the weight of 100 seeds per plant, the suitable percentage for seed, standard germination test, and index value test. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance then continued with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test at the 5% level. The results showed that a depth of 5 cm, which produces poor aeration, leads to unoptimal absorption of nutrients, thus plant height and number of nodes, number of seeds per plant, dry seed weight  per plant, 100 seed weight  per and the suitable percentage for seed decreased. In the treatment, a water level of 20 cm from the soil gave the best results in terms of seed growth, production and physiological quality  due to good ventilation, sufficient water availability and optimal absorption of nutrients

This study set out to explore the impact of digital social media on the writing and speaking skills of English as second language tertiary level students in one institution in Lesotho. Current research stipulates that digital social media can have a negative impact on students’ grammatical competence if not used properly. However, digital social media has also been found to have a positive impact on students’ productive skills. In order to find out the impact of digital social media on students’ written and oral skills, the study adopted a qualitative approach confined in a case study. Face-to-face interviews with five (n=5) lecturers and focus group discussions with sixty (n=60) students were used as tools for data collection. Findings from face-to-face interviews with lecturers reveal that digital social media has a negative impact on students’ grammatical competence because they employ short forms in formal writings. Furthermore, findings from group discussions with students reveal two things; firstly, they point to digital social media as having a positive impact on their speaking skills, and secondly as having an adverse impact on their writing skills because of the informal language used in the social media platforms. These findings suggest that students should be taught how to properly use the platforms in order to balance the two skills. The study consequently concludes by recommending that lecturers should constantly encourage their students to chat using formal language all the times especially amongst themselves as this will help them to improve their writing skills

Recently, some countries have been distressing with the increasing number of breast cancer cases. Those cases were extremely increased in every year. Practicaly, the increasing number of patients was caused by the manual examination. Recently, some researchers have been done in the development of AI method for solving this problem. However, AI itself still has limitation since it worked in the black-box approach which was difficult to be trusted. Thus, to overcome those problems, we proposed a method that was able to classify breast ultrasound images into two classes (benign and malignant) and able to explain how the prediction was made. Our proposed method consisted of four processes i.e., pre-processing step, development of CNN model, interpretable step and evaluation. In this research work, our proposed method performed into 780 breast ultrasound images divided into three classes (133 normal, 210 malignant, and 437 benign). In the training process, our proposed method obtained training accuracy of 0.9795, training loss of 0.0675. The validation process obtained validation accuracy of 0.8000 and validation loss of 0.5096. While, in the testing process, our proposed method achieved accuracy of 0.7923. In the interpretable process using LIME, the LIME result is covered by doctor visualization. It was indicated that LIME was suitable enough in visualizing the important features of breast cancer severity. Regarding to the results, our proposed method has a potensial to be implemented as an early detection method for classifying malignancy of breast cancer in order to help the doctor in the screening proces
