    Get PDF
In the rapidly evolving digital age, the need for computational thinking (CT) skills is answered with the introduction of CT-Mobile, an innovative Android-based graphic design application. The app integrates basic computational concepts with graphic design principles, providing a unique platform for users to improve problem-solving, algorithmic thinking, and logical reasoning skills. This study used a research and development (R&D) approach with the 4-D Model (define, design, develop, and disseminate) as a guide. The validity test with experts categorized CT-Mobile as “valid” with values of 0.85 and 0.88 from media experts and material experts. The practicality of this application was rated as “very practical” by teachers (89.67%) and students (86.34%). These findings confirm the significant benefits of CT-Mobile in graphic design learning, both for educators and students. The analysis showed a positive impact on users’ CT ability, reflected by improved problem-solving efficiency and a deeper understanding of algorithmic processes. This study provides valuable insights into the relationship between mobile application development, graphic design education, and the development of CT skills. CT-Mobile emerges as a promising tool to bridge technology, creativity, and cognitive skill development in the digital age

    Get PDF
The study employs bibliometric and content analysis to assess the current status of applying technology adoption models (such as the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), and Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT)) to the smartphone market, which also encompasses smart wearables. Hereby, the author aims to explore the relationship between smartphone usage and adoption models and contribute to the literature through current trends and methodologies. To achieve the goal, the author applied a two-stage approach. In the first stage, 213 articles were analyzed using citation and bibliographic coupling tools in VOS viewer (version 1.6.20). The papers were selected from the Scopus database, and the search was conducted in the fields of economics, business, and computer technologies. In the second stage, the author conducted a brief literature review of the most influential papers. The results illustrate the situation regarding the implementation of various models in the case of smartphone adoption. Content analyses of the most influential papers were conducted to elucidate and enhance the findings of bibliometric analyses, identify research gaps, and guide future research development

Leveraging Problem-Based Learning via Virtual Environments to Enhance Business Students’ English and Motivation

    Get PDF
This study investigates leveraging a problem-based learning (PBL) approach via virtual environments (VEs) to enhance English reading and writing skills and motivation among business students. The random sample consisted of 60 students in the Customer Service Section of the Applied College. The students were divided into two groups: the experimental group, which was exposed to the PBL approach via the Blackboard system, and the control group, which received traditional instruction. The authors used a quasi-experimental design, a pre-post-test, and a motivation scale. A T-test was used to compare the two groups at the post-test. The findings revealed substantial differences between the experimental and control groups in English for business students (reading comprehension and writing). Additionally, there was a momentous variance between the two groups on the motivational scale. The study proved that using the PBL approach with the VEs positively influenced students’ English for business and motivation. The study has some recommendations for future research, including evaluating virtual learning platforms, conducting longitudinal studies, and incorporating qualitative measures to enhance English language learning opportunities

    Get PDF
Due to the advancement of digital technology in the 21st century, self-directed learning (SDL) skills have become crucial for learning in the digital era, which is characterized by rapid change. Most previous studies have focused on enhancing SDL skills through various instructional methods. Today, technology plays a crucial role in learning. In the current context, exploring the outcomes of incorporating digital technology in teaching methods to enhance SDL skills is an intriguing subject. This study investigated the impact of SDL skills and learning achievement promotion by employing learning activities based on the constructionism approach in a digital learning ecosystem (DLE). The study used a quasi-experimental research approach with a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test control group design. The participants were eleventh-grade students. The results showed that both the SDL skills and learning achievement of the experimental group increased more compared to those of the control group. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that learning-by-marking within an environment where numerous digital technologies serve as learning tools has a positive impact on SDL skills and learning achievement

In today’s digital age, the integration of digital technologies into the educational process has become a priority. The objective of this study is to analyze the conditions under which technology can support teachers in the design, implementation, and evaluation of teachinglearning (E/A) processes. This study specifically sought to answer the research question: “Can a self-evaluation tool help teachers’ guide and design mobile learning activities?” by emphasizing the criterion of effectiveness. Through a qualitative analysis within the framework of the educational design research (EDR) methodology, a series of focus groups were carried out and classified by teachers’ levels of experience, from beginners to experts. These groups provided detailed insights on the perception and use of mobile devices in education, specifically on the use of a self-assessment tool that supports teachers in designing activities with mobile devices. The results indicated a generally positive perception of mobile technologies in education, although variations in adoption and perception were observed depending on the teacher’s level of experience. The mobile self-assessment tool was also commended. The findings support literature on mobile learning and teacher support tools, emphasizing the importance of teaching training and the transformative potential of mobile devices in modern pedagogy
