Personalized Upper Limb Assistive Device Socket for Phocomelia Patient Using Topology Optimization Techniques
Phocomelia is a congenital limb defect affecting the upper or lower limbs of newborns, significantly impacting their daily lives. Adaptive devices, such as prosthetic limbs, are crucial for helping individuals with phocomelia, yet designing and customizing these devices presents a complex challenge, as traditional prosthetic devices often do not cater to the specific needs of each patient due to their generic design. This study employs topology optimization and finite element analysis (FEA) to enhance the design and mechanical performance of these adaptive devices. The study focuses on improving design through material selection and topology optimization, analyzing mechanical behavior using FEA, and identifying potential improvements in strength and durability. Three materials—acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), polylactic acid (PLA), and polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PETG)—are evaluated with weight reductions ranging from 10% to 50%. Computational software is used for modeling and analysis based on an existing model from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), incorporating applied forces and fixed points. Results indicate the stiffness-to-weight ratio for each material and mass reduction scenario, alongside stress, strain, and displacement analyses. This study aims to advance adaptive device design by enhancing functionality and affordability, ultimately improving the quality of life for phocomelia patients
Tax Literacy of University Students in the Czech Republic
Tax literacy represents one of the essential areas of knowledge for life in the 21st century. Although more and more emphasis is placed on practical skills, these topics are still missing in most educational programs. The paper focuses on the tax literacy of university students in the Czech Republic. The main part of the work involves the analysis of data obtained from a questionnaire survey in which 1,061 students participated. For the analysis, the chi-square test of independence and ANOVA were used. The results indicate that 35% of students have excellent tax literacy, 52% have good tax literacy, and 13% have insufficient tax literacy. Additionally, a total of 10 factors were analyzed. Factors such as the field of study at the university, completion of a tax-related course, and the type of high school attended have a statistically significant impact on the level of tax knowledge. The results of this study may contribute to the discussion about the content, meaning and added value of the educational process
Role of Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Streaming Services in the Field of Education (2020–2023) – A Systematic Review
This paper systematically reviews the demand for real-time streaming services in the education sector over the period 2020–2023. The systematic review analyzes the effects of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) in education, focusing on the need for real-time streaming services. These technologies have grown significantly in education, enabling collaborative and immersive experiences. VR, supported by leading streaming platforms, has facilitated distance education, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The methodology was based on searching for articles in databases such as Ebsco, Springer, IEEE, ScienceDirect, and Scopus. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, creating a final sample of 60 papers, with a geographical distribution highlighting the important role of China and the United States. The results indicate that changes in education, the focus on VR, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic are the main drivers of demand for educational streaming. This led to a rapid adoption of online educational platforms. Challenges to implementing streaming services include a lack of training in educational institutions and a lack of practice in certain areas. Content customization, video quality, and adequate technological infrastructure are the most sought-after functionalities by users
Comparative Study of Machine Learning Approaches for Detecting Fake News in Arabic Text
It is evident that fake news remains a critical global problem, especially in the Arabic language, although there is an absence of vast amounts of annotated datasets required for effective stateof- the-art natural treatment. In this paper, we compare deep neural networks (DNNs), XGBoost, gradient boosting (GB), and long short-term memory (LSTM) networks on the task of distinguishing real and fake Arabic news. When we applied special preprocessing for AFND with specific approaches to tackle the class imbalance problem, we observed that XGBoost was found to be the best method, performing with an accuracy of 72.86% on the test database. The present model performed optimally on relevant parameters related to the absence of capitalized terms, precision (0.83%), recall (0.71%), and F1-score (0.76%), especially for “undecided” cases. XGBoost’s performance is revealed in these results, and feature selection and optimization are promoted, leading to improvements in the Arabic natural language processing (NLP) domain

Utilizing the DEMATEL (Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) method, the study systematically maps the causal relationships between key enablers and constraints, offering a more nuanced understanding of how managerial knowledge flows in technology-driven business environments. By identifying the most influential drivers, this study provides actionable insights for enhancing knowledge transfer efficiency and optimizing organizational adaptability
Assessing the Teachers’ Readiness for Integrating Augmented Reality in K-12 Education: A Comparative Analysis
The integration of augmented reality (AR) into educational environments will depend on its perceived effectiveness in enhancing teaching practices and the attitudes toward the use of this technology. Therefore, the main objective is to investigate the teachers’ attitude and motivation to adopt AR in educational settings, which also looks at a cross-cultural context. Furthermore, this research reveals different aspects that have an impact on teachers’ attitudes toward adopting AR in the teaching process. To investigate this, we conducted a study with 87 K-12 teachers belonging to two different education systems, i.e., Sweden and Palestine. The mixed-methods approach enhances the validity of the study and provides a broad understanding through numerical data, while qualitative insights offer deeper explanations of the findings. The results indicate a statistically significant difference in teachers’ attitudes about AR, with a mean 3.99 for teachers coming from Palestine showing a more positive attitude towards AR-supported learning. Therefore, it is important for educational institutions and application developers to consider a range of learning and teaching methods, as well as specific needs, throughout the process of developing and incorporating AR into the curriculum

Android Application for Children to Learn: Arabic Alphabets and Numbers
Mobile learning has become a new trend in e-learning that uses portable media such as smartphones. This offers a new space for creating kid-friendly educational game applications. Therefore, this helps parents fulfill their responsibility to teach kids. This study aims to develop and integrate an educational application that contains multimedia elements that inspire children and evaluate their trustworthiness. The waterfall model was used to develop the application of this study. The application includes four sections: numbers, alphabets, animals, and fruits. A survey was conducted and distributed among four experts and 20 children to validate our application. A selective sampling technique was used to choose these responders. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data collected. According to the results, the application is appropriate for beginners who want to learn the Arabic alphabet and numbers can easily inspire them with the multimedia elements used and can be implemented in the classroom to enhance the effectiveness of the educational process. Future research could examine the effectiveness of the application across different learning styles or age groups
Into Multicultural and Virtual Teamwork: Insights from a Tentative Participant Observation Study in an East Asian Context
Extending an earlier conference paper by the authors, this report of a participant observation study provides an in-depth discussion on how cultural dimensions and hyper-personal effects might function in a specific context of computer-based communication (CMC) for remote teamwork. Adopting a cyber-ethnographical approach, a researcher engaged in a virtual group, which was working with a Consulate General in Shanghai, China, to observe the intragroup CMC behaviors, interactions, and practices of the participants, while also being involved in the teamwork. The group members were from either China or South Korea, mainly working remotely with one another and rendering this temporary workforce both multicultural and virtual. Paralleling the job tenure, a considerable amount of experience materials had been accumulated, as the product of a nearly 1-year data collection, which laid the foundation for a critical reflection and ad hoc analysis. Insights were drawn from the participant observation to address what could be the most suitable mode of teamwork for a certain multicultural and virtual group. Moreover, limitations of the present study were discussed; and implications were provided for multicultural and virtual teamwork, within and beyond the East Asian context
The Influence of Family Socio-Economic on Children’s Gender Expectations in Macau
Gender roles reflect the way people are influenced by social expectations and specific cultural contexts. Parents usually project their gender beliefs into their childrearing. Macau, as a special administrative region, combines Asian and Western culture with authoritative parenting models and Western encouragement styles. This paper aims to explore how Macau parents’ socioeconomic status (SES) influences their gender expectations and their approach to gender education for young children. We gathered 84 valid questionnaires titled “Macau Parents’ Gender Expectations of Young Children” via an online portal. We examine the frequency of toy purchases, parental career expectations for their children, and the gender of primary caretakers, assessing variations by SES group. Ultimately, we conclude that higher family SES affords greater resources and opportunities for children while diminishing traditional gender stereotypes
