Learning-by-Doing Approach to Teach Microcontroller Course with Portable Training Board
Microcontroller education is attracting increasing attention owing to the widespread application of microcontroller-based systems. This study proposes the learning-by-doing approach. Rather than emphasizing a deep understanding of datasheets and register-level programming, the new teaching model focuses on microcontroller-based applications. During the pre-class, in-class, and post-class phases, students were instructed to practice writing subroutines or building circuits to interface external devices with a training board. A typical case study is presented to illustrate the detailed process of the proposed model. Feedback from students and teaching supervisors in the recent years has shown that the teaching approach coupled with the training board provides students with more opportunities to work on real equipment, which benefits both the grasp of the theoretical knowledge and improvement of practical skills
Pedagogical Conditions for the Training of Future Teachers Based on Digital Educational Technologies
This study aimed to assess the pedagogical frameworks for developing future teachers using digital education technology. The mixed-methods design, which combines quantitative and qualitative approaches, was employed to develop this study. Three hundred seventeen teacher candidates who are enrolled at several universities in Kazakhstan make up the research team. The researchers created a semi-structured interview form and an attitude scale toward digital technology in order to gather research data. The data was determined to be regularly distributed. Therefore, descriptive statistics, the T-test, and one-factor analysis of variance (ANOVA) tests were employed to assess them. The descriptive analysis method was applied to study the research’s qualitative data. The study’s findings showed that most pre-service teachers who took part in it thought that teacher training programs based on digital technology had adequate pedagogical conditions. Based on its results, the study offers recommendations
Intelligent Content Distribution System: A Machine Learning–Based Teaching Content Customization Method
With the rapid development of information technology and the increasing diversity in the education field, personalized teaching has become the key to educational innovation. However, existing methods of customizing and distributing teaching contents often fail to effectively cope with complex teaching environments and resource constraints. To solve this problem, this study proposed a novel intelligent content distribution system, i.e., a teaching content customization method based on machine learning. First, an inverse optimization model of teaching content customization targeted at content combinations was constructed, which minimized the adjustment of configuration parameters and customized resource constraints. This model generated more reasonable and effective teaching content configuration plans by comprehensively considering content diversity, students’ needs, and resource constraints. Second, to further improve the efficiency and effect of content distribution, an intelligent content distribution algorithm based on a hierarchical reinforcement learning network was developed, which allowed the system to automatically learn and adjust content distribution strategies based on students’ needs and preferences, and optimized the teaching content configuration while meeting resource constraints. The method proposed in this study not only significantly improved the teaching effect, but also provided strong technical support for the rational allocation of educational resources, thereby bringing profound impacts to modern education. This study is of great significance for intelligent content distribution and personalized teaching in the education field
The Influence of Science and Technology Innovation Perception Education on Entrepreneurial Intention of College Students
The current employment situation is grim, and the era of science and technology is conducive to college students providing new opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship. The inclusion of entrepreneurship education in college courses can open up more employment opportunities for students. Therefore, the educational environment is crucial for students’ employment choices. This paper conducted a questionnaire survey on 582 college students from nine universities in Fujian Province, China, to develop a relationship model between science and technology innovation perception, education, and entrepreneurial intention. The results show that: 1. Science and technology innovation perception education has been proven to have a direct positive influence on college students’ entrepreneurial intention; 2. Undergraduates work value orientation (including career orientation, mission orientation, and livelihood orientation) significantly affects entrepreneurial self-efficacy and thus entrepreneurial intention; and 3. Both work value orientation and entrepreneurial selfefficacy have a direct influence on entrepreneurial intention, but the influence of entrepreneurial self-efficacy is greater than that of work value orientation. Therefore, enhancing college students’ entrepreneurial self-efficacy is the main way to improve entrepreneurial intention. Based on this, to improve the entrepreneurial intention of college students, colleges and universities should strengthen science and technology innovation perception education, do a good job in student employment guidance, improve students’ self-efficacy, meet undergraduates’ diverse employment needs, and provide more entrepreneurship resources to undergraduates
Teachers’ Use of Cloud-Based Learning Management Systems in Malaysian Secondary Schools
This paper discussed the study of the factors that determine the behavioural intention (BI) of teachers utilisation of cloud-based learning management systems (LMS) in Malaysian secondary schools. A survey methodology was introduced in this inquiry using 322 participants from 18 secondary schools in the country. Also, this research employed a structured questionnaire consisting of 43 questions that addressed seven factors: performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), facilitating conditions (FC), self-efficacy (SE), hedonic motivation (HM) and BI. The adoption of quantitative methodology was meant to allow the research to gather extensive numerical data to understand the problematic adoption of Google Classroom applications in Malaysian high schools. However, the data collected were analysed descriptively and inferentially. These research findings showed that there were relationships that existed between the independent variables and teachers’ BI towards the utilisation of cloud-based LMS in Malaysian secondary school settings. The results of this study are relevant from both academic and managerial perspectives, providing solutions for future research in educational technology
A Bibliometric Analysis of the Literature on Mobile Learning Adoption and Continuance in the Field of Education
This study examines mobile learning adoption and continuance in education literature through bibliometric methods. The metadata of 155 relevant publications was extracted from the Web of Science database and imported into “biblioshiny” for analysis. It was found that Education and Information Technologies has the highest publications, and Computers & Education is the most cited journal. Author analysis revealed that Shakeel Iqbal has the most articles fractionalized. Further, the most cited articles were published in the year 2012. The study revealed an exponential increase in research in the top producers, China and Turkey, since 2019. TAM was found to be the most popular theory among researchers. In addition, interest in self-determination theory has been growing recently. The studies examined limited subjects (language, mathematics, and science). The findings indicated several associated keywords, such as augmented reality, cyberloafing, and virtual reality. The thematic map revealed emerging (e.g., self-regulation), niche (e.g., literacy), motor (e.g., attitude), and basic (e.g., addiction) themes. Further, the conceptual structure map suggested the nuances of difference between the constructs of “intention” and “continuance intention.
Enhancing Junior High School Students’ Reasoning of Linear Equations Using GeoGebra Software
The important role of visual representations in supporting students’ learning of geometry concepts and their reasoning is well established. GeoGebra is dynamic and interactive software that can assist students in exploring mathematical concepts effectively. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of GeoGebra in enhancing eighth-grade students’ mathematical reasoning on the topic of linear equations. The study used a quantitative approach with a non-equivalent control group design by applying GeoGebra. Data were obtained through interviews and a mathematical reasoning ability test. The interviews were analyzed descriptively, and the reasoning test was analyzed using dependent t-tests. The findings revealed that GeoGebra significantly helps students’ to have a better understanding of linear equation properties, such as the gradient of parallel, coincident, perpendicular, and intersecting lines. The mathematical reasoning test revealed that learning with GeoGebra can improve students’ mathematical reasoning skills, specifically in linear equations. Teachers are encouraged to incorporate GeoGebra, as its visualization function enables students to explore linear equation properties
The Nature of Project Management Found in Nature: Comparative Study at High Education Institutions
This research’s urgency is evident from the growing gap between students’ expectations and what universities are able or willing to provide. The theoretical background is based on constructivist learning theories and a praxiological approach. The parallel group method laid the basis of this study design when comparing project management students from two universities, A and B. In addition, a specific pedagogical experiment in the forest was implemented at University A. The experiment lasted one academic year and included a total of 179 students. Work breakdown structure, the Critical Path Method, resource management, planning, manipulative business practices, and the role of team members were demonstrated in parallel with bees, ants, bumblebees, wolves, zombie mushrooms, squirrels and orangutans. Experimental intervention at University A has led to higher point scores on achievement tests compared to University B students and brought other remarkable findings, “aha” moments and answers to the assigned research questions: What key moments increase student engagement during the class (1), and what are the findings and recommendations for future project management pedagogy (2). This study combines quantitative and qualitative methods, including bio-mimicry analogies, parallel group technique, focus groups, action- and game-based learning, achievement test, and statistical tests
Attitudes of Economics Students Towards Teamwork at University
Teamwork has an undeniable benefit in finding creative and effective solutions to situations in both work and school environments. Teamwork training can be seen as a necessary condition for the career growth of every individual. This article aims to explore students‘ attitudes towards teamwork, identify the reasons for positive and negative attitudes of students towards teamwork, and measure their level of satisfaction with various aspects of teamwork. The survey utilized a non-standardized questionnaire comprising closed-ended items, multiple-choice items, and scaled items. Out of the 148 respondents, the majority expressed a positive attitude towards teamwork across different aspects, with varying reasons and levels of satisfaction. Statistical analysis of the data revealed that there is no statistically significant difference between the groups with positive and negative attitudes towards teamwork regarding their views on the reasons that cause positive or negative attitudes. However, there is a significant difference between the groups in their evaluation of all the aspects of teamwork, except for difficulty and unfairness. Students with positive attitudes towards teamwork place significantly more importance on relationships within the team, express higher satisfaction with recognition for good achievements and with the opportunity to help others, and they also prioritize the opportunity to assist others more than students with negative attitudes
The Analysis of Learning Management System towards Students’ Cognitive Learning Outcome: A Systematic Literature Review
The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of the moodle and edmodo learning management system (LMS) in education, to identify the specific features of the LMS that were utilized in the learning process, and to assess the impact of the LMS on student learning outcomes, drawing on cognitive learning theory. The research method is a systematic literature review (SLR) using the Scopus and Taylor & Francis databases, guided by the PRISMA (preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analyses) protocol, to analyze the data. The validity of the study was tested using the Gregory test with four expert examiners, namely an SLR expert, an LMS expert, and experts in cognitive learning outcomes. The results of the electronic database search focused on articles related to LMS implementation, LMS features, and student cognitive learning outcomes. This systematic literature review identified four key stages that serve as indicators of LMS implementation: 1) introduction, 2) registration, 3) learning materials, and 4) evaluation (assessment or feedback). The LMS features used in learning are grouped into four sections: communication features, course content features, course delivery features, and assignment features. The findings of the literature review indicate that the implementation of LMS and the features utilized in the learning process have an impact on various aspects of learning. These include learning satisfaction, engagement, learning experience, comfort, effectiveness, motivation, and the improvement of student learning outcomes
