Purpose: With the rise of online video streaming platforms and the preventive measures taken during the COVID-19 pandemic, staying at home has become the preferred choice for people. As a result, online video streaming platforms, one of the components of the home economy, have experienced rapid growth. Netflix is a subscription-based service that offers movies and TV shows, delivering media content to subscribers through internet streaming. Research methodology: This study utilizes the Importance-Satisfaction Model (I-S Model) as a research tool to explore customer satisfaction levels. Through literature review and expert confirmation, 16 key quality factors were identified for conducting importance and satisfaction surveys among Netflix customers. Additionally, demographic variables such as gender, marital status, education level, occupation, and age were analyzed for differences in the Importance-Satisfaction Model. Results: The study reveals that out of the overall Importance-Satisfaction Model, 2 factors fall in the "Improveme+nt area", 9 factors fall in the "Excellent area ", 4 factors fall in the "Careless area ", and 1 factor falls in the "Surplus area ". Limitations: The respondents were not randomly selected from all OTT video platform users, and furthermore, due to limitations in the distribution channels of the questionnaire, the age range of the respondents in this study was concentrated in high school, college, and young working groups. Contribution: These findings indicate that consumers are generally satisfied with the service quality provided by Netflix

    No full text
Purpose: This study examines the relationship between intangible assets (INTAN), Executive Directors (EDs), Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) and corporate financial performance. Research methodology: This study utilizes multivariate regression models to analyze datasets of 670 firm-year observations, from 2012-2020. Results: Our main OLS and FE multivariate regression results in Model 2 suggest that INTAN, CHAIR, CEOs, CFOs and strong BDIND significantly increase corporate financial performance.  In Model 1 of our main tables (Tables 5 and 6), INTAN and CHAIR do not appear to be significant, although their observed signs suggest that they increase corporate financial performance. Except for YEAR, the rest control variables significantly affect corporate financial performance. Taken together, these results provide conclusive evidence that INTAN, CHAIR, CEOs, CFOs and BDIND have positive and significant effects on corporate financial performance. We, therefore, recommend that Nigerian companies should strengthen their corporate governance mechanisms to boost financial performance. Limitation: The study is limited by incomplete data on all variables, especially relating to running Fixed Effects models, where the data is unbalanced. Contribution: The study extends the literature on call-out Board members’ operational dichotomy. Novelty: This is the first from a developing economy to make a testable hypothesis on the relationship between intangible assets and corporate financial performance

Accounting undergraduates’ perspectives on integrating forensic accounting into the curriculum in Sri Lanka

    No full text
Purpose: This study examines the current level of forensic accounting education in Sri Lanka and its level of sufficiency from the viewpoint of accounting undergraduates studying in Sri Lankan government universities. Research methodology: Data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire targeting third and fourth-year accounting undergraduates of Sri Lankan government universities. To achieve the research objectives, descriptive statistics were used as analytical tools. Results: The study revealed that existing auditing course modules and stand-alone forensic accounting course units do not adequately cover forensic accounting topics in response to the rising demand for forensic accountants' services in Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan government universities are required to restructure the integration of forensic accounting education with greater coverage. Moreover, as per accounting undergraduates, the precise method of covering forensic accounting within accounting education would be to introduce a separate degree program that covers all forensic accounting discussions. Limitations: The main limitation of this study is that it focuses only on the perspectives of government university undergraduates. Perceptions of accounting undergraduates in private universities and professional qualification institutions that offer accounting degree programs were not considered. Contribution: This study provides insights for university administrators on how to integrate forensic accounting into the accounting curriculum. Moreover, the suggested modifications will provide undergraduates with the skills required to practice forensic accounting after graduation

Purpose: High-voltage electrical equipment requires a grounding installation in order to protect lives in freshwater swamps with a hydrogen potential of 6.75. To build a grounding structure, it is required to know the resistance value and grounding materials, namely copper-coated rod electrodes at different depths. Research methodology: The research was conducted in a freshwater swamp close to the shampooing substation using field observations and direct measurement of soil resistance values, followed by a literature review and comparisons using COMSOL simulation and FEM Analysis. Results: The results of direct research and simulations indicate that in order to accomplish a grounding resistance value < 5 ohms according to the PUIL 2011 standard for a single rod system made of copper, it is necessary to optimize the depth of the grounding electrode within a range of 10 meters, which differs from the simulation results of ground resistance measurement and the Comsol application. The percentage error is 1.05%. Limitations: This research analyzes the results of measurements and grounding analysis using Comsol Multiphysics at a depth of 1 meter for a particular type of copper-coated round rod electrode at depths of 1, 1.5, and 2 meters.
