    No full text
Purpose: This study examines the nexus between book value and the share price of listed firms in the Nigerian exchange group, considering inflation as a mediating variable. Research methodology: The study used book value per share, share prices, and inflation rate as the independent, dependent, and mediating variables, respectively. The study uses regression analysis and a structural equation model for the effect and mediating effect, respectively, to analyze data collected from a company’s financial statements and the capital market  for 2011-2020. Findings: The regression and structural equation model results show that book value per share has a negative and insignificant effect on share price, and inflation has a mediating effect on the relationship between book value per share and share prices. Limitations: This study was limited to book value per share, share price, and inflation rate. The scope of this study was limited to listed firms in Nigeria from 2011 to 2020. Contribution:  This study contributes to the understanding of how inflation rates influence the relationship between book value per share and share prices in financial markets. By exploring the mediating effect of the inflation rate, this study sheds light on how changes in purchasing power affect the valuation metrics of companies, providing valuable insights for investors, policymakers, and financial analysts in making informed decisions amidst varying economic conditions. Moreover, this study contributes to the body of knowledge because there are limited studies in this area

    No full text
Purpose: This study aims to empirically investigate the impact of financial and marketing services on shea butter production, with an emphasis on the Tolon district of Ghana, to inform evidence-based policies and practices. Research methodology: This study employed a quantitative research design, utilizing a survey approach to collect data from a sample of shea butter producers in the Tolon District of Ghana. In total, 151 Shea nut processors from Tolon, Dimabi 1, and Dimabi 2 were selected using a combination of purposive and simple random sampling techniques. Data were collected through structured questionnaires, which were subsequently analyzed using quantitative methods. Furthermore, the study employed linear regression analysis with an endogenous treatment effect model in STATA version 17 to examine the relationship between financial and marketing services, and shea butter production. Results: The empirical evidence derived from the linear regression with the endogenous treatment model indicates a statistically significant and positive relationship between financial and marketing services and shea butter production, indicating that financial and marketing services are significant factors in predicting the productivity of shea butter production. Limitations: The sample size of the study was small, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings.   Contribution:  This study provides novel insights into the dynamics of shea butter production in Ghana’s Tolon District by highlighting the quantitative effect of financial and marketing services on shea butter production, and the importance of improving access to these services. This study also provides evidence-based recommendations for collaborative synergies between government and non-governmental organizations to establish microfinance programs and marketing service centers to facilitate easier access to these essential services for shea butter producers

    No full text
Purpose: The main purpose of this study is to explore the experiences, struggles, and coping mechanisms of educators currently pursuing doctoral degrees. Research methodology: This narrative research explored the experiences of three (3) STEM teachers in the Division of San Pablo City, who are also enrolled as doctoral students in a private graduate school. Participants were selected through purposive sampling and underwent one-on-one in-person interviews. To better understand STEM-aligned teachers' experiences in teaching vis-à-vis their doctoral education, the Colaizzi method of analysis was utilized. Results: Five themes emerged in this study: (1) practical reasons such as promotion and higher salary cause participants to take doctoral education; (2) challenges such as expensive education, heavy workload, distress, struggles, and strictness of professors are experienced by doctoral students; (3) intrapersonal motivation fuels participants in learning and teaching; (4) cultivating professionally; and (5) personally are what the participants see as benefits of pursuing doctoral education. Limitations: The programs of the participants in their doctoral education were not explicitly specified. Findings may be different if participants take a degree related to their specialization (e.g., science education, mathematics, etc.). In addition, the experiences of teachers teaching in private schools who are pursuing doctoral education may also be explored for comparison of experiences. Contribution: This research could be beneficial to educational institutions where doctoral students teach by adapting to more open policies and regulations that can help teachers attend schools. Moreover, graduate schools may mandate working-student-friendly schedules and policies regarding deadlines and tasks

The relationship between emotional intelligence and customer satisfaction is not significant. However, emotional labor was found to be a full mediator in the relationship between emotional intelligence and customer satisfaction. Limitations: There is a limitation in sample size in the study. The actual number of customers from the three banks could not be ascertained. Contribution: The study concluded that bank customer satisfaction is a product of high emotional intelligence when these customers also have a high perception of emotional labor. It is recommended that banks provide brief emotional intelligence training tips for their customers. No full text
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the impact of two fit concepts, namely, person-job fit (P-J) and person-organization fit (P-O), on employee engagement while taking supervisor support as the moderating variable. Research Methodology: The relationships among constructs were analyzed using correlation, and the study hypotheses were tested using regression. All employees of different mobile telecommunication companies in Bangladesh comprised the study population. The sample size was 100, which was taken using the judgmental sampling technique. Primary data were collected from a field-level survey using a structured questionnaire. Results: The results revealed a positive association between employee engagement and person-job fit, while person-organization fit had a similar association with engagement. The impact of these variables on employee engagement ultimately affects turnover intentions. This study also revealed that the association between person-organization fit and employee engagement is positively moderated by supervisor support. Limitations: The study used a common non-probability sampling technique and a small sample size, which is a limitation. Contribution: The insights will help managers to ensure a match between the job and organizational requirements and those of employees. The study will also inspire future research to connect Field Theory and social exchange theory (SET) with different concepts in different country and industry contexts. Novelty: For the first time in the relevant field, the study simultaneously connected field theory and SET theory with P-J and P-O fit with employee engagement

Results: The results show that the average contribution of regional tax effectiveness for five years shows the criteria of being effective and even very effective, except for the types of entertainment tax and parking tax, which provide less or even ineffective contributions. Meanwhile, the contribution of local taxes to local revenue shows very good criteria, but the contribution of local levies is less. Therefore, it is hoped that the regional government will be able to explore the tax potential, which is still ineffective, and improve the strategy for optimizing the overall regional original income
