    No full text
Purpose: This study aims to analyze the role of Jadid theater in nurturing the spirituality and moral awareness of youth in late 19th to early 20th century Central Asia. Employing a qualitative historical approach, the research is grounded in document and literature analysis of primary and secondary sources such as archival records, published plays, newspapers, and intellectual correspondences from the era. Research methodology: This study employs a qualitative historical approach through document and literature analysis, utilizing primary and secondary sources such as historical records, plays, newspapers, and writings from late 19th to early 20th-century Jadid intellectuals. It applies descriptive analysis to interpret the content, structure, and ideological elements of theatrical works by figures like Behbudi, Niyozi, and Fitrat within their historical and socio-cultural context. Results: The development of modern theater in Central Asia during the Jadid period was marked by the transformation of traditional storytelling into a structured platform for education, national awakening, and moral instruction. Through works by figures like Behbudi, Niyozi, Avloniy, and Fitrat, theater served as a vehicle to address social issues, promote literacy, and inspire youth spirituality. Despite censorship and limited resources, amateur and later professional troupes sustained the theatrical movement, which eventually included female participation and left a lasting cultural legacy. Limitations: This study is limited to a historical and document-based analysis of Jadid theater, primarily focusing on the period between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It does not include empirical data such as interviews with theater practitioners or audience reception studies that could offer additional perspectives on the contemporary legacy of Jadid dramaturgy Contribution: This study contributes to understanding how Jadid theater served as a strategic platform for youth spiritual development and national awakening in Central Asia

Dynamics in the carrying capacity of Ghana’s population

    No full text
Purpose: This study assesses the limitations of Thomas Malthus' population theory and explores how Cornucopian perspectives offer solutions to the sustainability of Ghana's population within the framework of the vicious cycle model. Research methodology: The study used existing literature to analyse historical and contemporary sources on Malthusian and Cornucopian perspectives; and applied it to the analysis of demographic data and socio-economic indicators to assess the applicability of these theories in a modern Ghanaian context. Results: The study finds that Malthus' theory is limited by its failure to anticipate technological advancements and improved agricultural practices, which have mitigated the risks of a Malthusian crisis. Cornucopian theorists provide a more optimistic view, arguing that innovation and socio-economic development can counteract the negative effects of rapid population growth. In Ghana, strategic investments in education, health, and technology have the potential to break the vicious cycle of poverty and population growth, aligning with Cornucopian ideas. Limitations: The study does not account for all local factors influencing population dynamics in Ghana. Contribution: This study contributes to the field of population studies by providing a comparative analysis of Malthusian and Cornucopian theories, with a specific focus on their relevance to contemporary issues in developing countries like Ghana. Novelty: The novelty lies in its application of classical population theories to the modern context of Ghana

Results: From 2010 to 2022, Mesuji’s HDI steadily increased, driven by improvements in Life Expectancy, Education Index, and Gross National Income per Capita. Key drivers include improved healthcare services, educational expansion, job availability, infrastructure development, and pro-poverty policies. Conclusions: The program aimed at increasing the Human Development Index (HDI) in Mesuji Regency has shown positive results from 2010 to 2022, yet the region's HDI remains classified as "medium" compared to the national average. Limitations: The analysis was limited to the 2010–2022 period, excluding developments beyond this range. Contribution: This study contributes to challenges such as regional development disparities, high poverty rates, and unemployment, which still need to be addressed to achieve more equitable and sustainable development. Novelty: Despite positive growth, Mesuji’s HDI remains in the “medium” category, highlighting the need for strategic and sustained efforts in the health, education, and income sectors. Comprehensive interventions supported by inclusive policies are essential to accelerate HDI progress and reduce regional disparities

    No full text
Purpose: The focus of the discussion in this study is the decision on crimes against morality committed by TNI soldiers. Research methodology: The research method used is normative juridical which is carried out by analyzing various decisions related to crimes against morality committed by TNI soldiers and related laws and regulations. Results: The verdict of the military court in cases of criminal acts of indecency committed by the TNI which were sentenced to prison sentences were relatively the same, ranging from five months to one year, but for additional penalties in the form of dismissal from the TNI service there was a disparity of 34% which caused legal uncertainty for every TNI soldier who committed a criminal act of indecency, especially with the penalty of dismissal from the TNI Service. The influencing factor on the judge's decision for additional criminal dismissal is related to military interests which state that the perpetrators of criminal acts of indecency are still needed by the TNI Institution and have an important role in supporting the main tasks of the TNI and there is no replacement who has the same ability as the perpetrators of criminal acts of indecency so that the judge's decision does not include the additional penalty of dismissal from the TNI service
