The Depopulation and Aging of Population in Regional Areas : Report on Research in Shimo-Koshiki Village, Kagoshima Prefecture
Get PDFP(論文)Since 1960, there has been a shift in population to the Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya areas, with resulting depopulation of regional areas. In the 1980s, the shift in population continued only to the Tokyo area. Because of this population concentration and the decline of total special birthrate, depopulation of regional area become more serious problem. Kagoshima Prefecture is the most serious area of depopulation in Japan and the single elderly person households and elderly couple households are the most high rate in Japan. The percentage of the total population over age 65 has increased more than 30% in Shimo-Koshiki Village. This report is about elderly persons in Kagoshima Prefecture and Shimo-Koshiki Village

The GDP growth rates were 3.6% and 10.5% for years of 1989 and 1990 respectively and estimated 8% for 1991. In the next half term of the plan, though, Iran will face more difficult situations. If industrial products are exported along the lines of the plan, its complicated exchange rates should be reformed and unified. But Unifiction of exchange rates means pressure on the low income class, cutting off subsidization on imported wheat and dairy products. So Iran will face a difficult choice between the low income class who are the fervent supporter of the revolution, and economic growth which is necessary for the survival of the regime

Get PDFP(論文)This paper gives suggestions as to how a foreign teacher of English conversation at a Japanese university can best deal with the fact that Japanese students have minimal English speaking skills, never raise their hands to ask questions, and have no confidence in English conversation. Ten helpful suggestions are enumerated that can serve as aids to survival in an unfamiliar environment like that found at a Japanese university. Faced with endless rows of students who have minimal English skills, have never raised their hand to ask a question in their educational lives, and have no confidence in English, how does one survive? This is the starting point from which anyone teaching English in Japan must begin. The road to survival is long and torturous, and is strewn with the unfulfilled dreams of countless conversation teachers who have given up and dropped out in despair. Survival is possible, but it is far from easy. There are signposts along the way, and hopefully this brief handbook will serve as a rough map that will allow new teachers to steer a course toward successful college teaching in Japan.
