The Role of Project Management in Fostering Creativity: Towards Successful Architectural Design Projects
Get PDFThe present study aims to identify best practices for project management, which can reinforce creativity in architectural design projects. Although creativity is a critical component of any successful design process, there is no existing literature or systematic documentation of what project management can do to cultivate it within an architecture work environment. Therefore, this research first explores existing theories and bibliography to define creativity and its conducive factors, and draw some hypotheses on the potential contributions of an architectural project manager. The validity of these hypotheses in practice is then tested through a survey, which mostly confirmed and expanded them. The combined findings, from primary and secondary research, highlighted the roles played by the project manager’s leadership approach, the project team characteristics, the team members’ motivation, the workflow structure, and the creativity-relevant processes. These contributed to a partial framework of recommendations and suggested practices, which help walk a fine line between project constraints and new ideas in architectural design projects
Critical Risk Assessment and Management in Pharmaceutical Industry

Proper implementation of principles of project risk management is well known to minimize the impact of threats to any project. However, the determination of critical success factors which threat the success of pharmaceutical projects at baseline are usually uncertain.
Methods
Data was collected using self-administered structured questionnaire generated solely for the purpose of the current research. The questionnaire was administered via e-mail to professionals employed in the pharmaceutical industry located in Boston area using www.surveymonkey.com. The introduction and purpose of the questionnaire was described in the message accompanying the questionnaire.
Results:
Out of the 14 critical success factors listed in the questionnaire , respondents ranked good communication on the top with weighted average (2.00) followed by Clear communication/ feedback (1.92) and Organizational adaptation/ culture/ structure (1.92).
Conclusion
Good leadership and clear communication and organization culture were determined to be the most important critical success factors for implementation of risk assessment management practices

Teams are the basic structure of how project activities and tasks are being organized and managed within companies and organizations. This increased attention towards teams has forced many organizations to focus on improving the overall performance of the global nature of businesses and projects.
The question then is - How do we get a team to play well together at maximum effectiveness that would deliver success, given a wide range of factors which tends to affect individual team members; factors like – Individual differences resulting from cultural values, beliefs, norms and work practices. This study has two main objectives - first.is to examine the vast literature on Team Performance with the view to uncover the factors that enable optimal team performance. And second. is to use a survey tool to determine which of these factors are more responsive in driving higher frequency of team performance that produces repetitive project success
Adapting Agile in Regulated (Pharmaceutical) Environment

It causes white blood cells to become abnormal and the body to become weak. This deficiency in the immune system reduces the body\u27s ability to fight infection or simple airborne illnesses, causing extensive treatment of common pathogens and cancer treatment. The present review covers all topics, from diagnosis to treatment of pediatric leukemia, as well as the stages of growth and physiological changes throughout the process. As leukemia has a high mortality rate the chances of survival are low. Discussion on survival rate will be breached and thoroughly deciphered. We also included the topic of treatment and at which point patients may be considered terminal or advanced. By approaching these points, we better understand leukemia (from a scientific standpoint) and its properties throughout the course of treatment

Speech Processing Approach for Diagnosing Dementia in an Early Stage
Get PDFThe clinical diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias is very challenging, especially in the early stages. Our hypothesis is that any disease that affects particular brain regions involved in speech production and processing will also leave detectable finger prints in the speech. Computerized analysis of speech signals and computational linguistics have progressed to the point where an automatic speech analysis system is a promising approach for a low-cost non-invasive diagnostic tool for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease.We present empirical evidence that strong discrimination between subjects with a diagnosis of probable Alzheimer’s versus matched normal controls can be achieved with a combination of acoustic features from speech, linguistic features extracted from an automatically determined transcription of the speech including punctuation, and results of a mini mental state exam (MMSE). We also show that discrimination is nearly as strong even if the MMSE is not used, which implies that a fully automated system is feasible. Since commercial automatic speech recognition (ASR) tools were unable to provide transcripts for about half of our speech samples, a customized ASR system was developed
