Unveiling the Meaning of Love ???: Between Politics and Romance in the Story of David and Jonathan
This study investigates the evolving interpretation of the relationship between David and Jonathan in the book of Samuel. Recent scholarship has sparked controversy by suggesting a possible homosexual connection between the two figures. This research challenges such interpretations by revisiting the concept of love (???) within ancient Near Eastern and biblical covenants, drawing on the foundational work of William Moran. Employing textual criticism and exegesis, the analysis focuses on the Hebrew terms ??? and ??? used in 1 Samuel 19:1 and 2 Samuel 1:23, 26. By examining these terms alongside supporting evidence from the Hebrew Bible and ancient Aramaic texts, the study argues that these words carry primarily political connotations, signifying "delight" or "pleasantness" (???) and "loveliness" or "beauty" (???), rather than romantic love. This novel interpretation reframes the understanding of David and Jonathan's bond, emphasizing its political significance within the broader narrative
The Faith Problem in James 2
Faith is the main theme in James chapter two. Again, James has his exhortation and reason (purpose) to back up his exhortation. In this chapter, however, James uses a personal (2:4, 6), theological (2:5, 7, 19-20), and scriptural reflection (2:8-11, 21, 23, 25) in his reason (purpose). These reflections reveal that James exhorts his readers that are familiar with a Jewish background and his exhortation is personal. Interestingly, James provides his commentaries on Biblical quotations (2:22, 24, 26)
Doktrin Pilihan Allah Dalam Roma 9 Bagi Peneguhan Iman Jemaat
The doctrine of God's choice of believers is a concept that is difficult to explain and has become a theological polemic to this day. This concept polemic occurs in groups that emphasize works as the basis of salvation and groups that emphasize grace as the basis of salvation. The Bible explains that the doctrine of choice of believers (predestination) is a very important part, and this doctrine is closely related to the teaching of salvation. Specifically, the Bible explains the doctrine of God's choice of believers in the letter Romans 9. Therefore, the author uses the exegetical method to find the meaning of God's choice of believers as an effort to strengthen the congregation's faith. God chooses His chosen people based on God's covenant, God's purposes, God's generosity, and God's sovereignty. And Allah chooses His chosen people through faith, and not because of good deeds. Faith here is faith in the Lord Jesus who is the center and target of faith
Suara dalam Keheningan: Membaca Ulang Kisah Elia dalam 1 Raja-Raja 19:1-18 sebagai Dampak dari Trauma Psikologis
The story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19:1-18 is often understood as a narrative about disappointment and escape. This article aims to analyze the psychological trauma experienced by Elijah. The research focuses on Elijah's experiences following his battle against the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel. Despite achieving victory, Elijah falls into depression and a desire to die due to the political threats from Jezebel. This article explores the parallels between Elijah's story and the characteristics of psychological trauma, such as feelings of threat, flashbacks, and avoidance. The journey from the wilderness to Mount Horeb brings Elijah to encounter God in a gentle voice and the whisper of a soft breeze, renewing his strength and giving him the confidence to continue his mission. This research employs qualitative methods with a literature review on psychological trauma and narrative text analysis to gain deeper understanding. Reading Elijah's story through the lens of psychological trauma offers several important lessons: first, trauma can be experienced by anyone, including those who seem strong; second, God is always present and provides healing for the wounded; and third, God's voice can come in silence and gentleness to guide us toward resilience
Makna Frasa “? ????? ??? ????” dalam Yohanes 1:29
One of the theological titles addressed to Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God. This title can be found in John 1:29 and 1:36 which is the title of John the Baptist to Jesus, and is not found in the Synoptic Gospels. A number of scholars have attempted to interpret the phrase Lamb of God both in a literal and figurative sense and there are a number of different meanings. In this paper, the author seeks the meaning of the phrase Lamb of God in John 1:29 using the exegetical method. The exegetical method used three analyses: contextual analysis, historical, and grammatical and literal analysis. From the analysis carried out, it was found that the meaning of the phrase Lamb of God which is directed at Jesus explains the work of Jesus' salvation through His death on the cross which brought redemption and remission of sins for humans by taking Jewish background: the Passover lamb, and the divine qualities possessed by Christ as the Lamb of God
Analisis 1 Timotius 2:11-12 terkait Perdebatan Kepemimpinan Wanita dalam Gereja
One of the most controversial texts in the history of biblical interpretation relating to women's participation in church teaching and leadership is 1 Timothy 2:11-12. This text is seen as completely inconsistent with the total testimony of the NT. The Complementarian group used this text as the basis for prohibiting women from teaching and leading in the church. Meanwhile, the Egalitarian group believes that Paul's statement in 1 Timothy 2:11-12 is not a manual for church order that must be applied universally to limit women's ministry in all times and places. This research analyzes the text of 1 Timothy 2:11-12 regarding the debate on women's leadership in the church. The method used is exegesis, with the aim of finding meaning according to the original author's intentions when the text was written. The results of this research found that there are certain women who have exercised authority with dominance that demeans men. For that reason, Paul instructed certain women not to teach and command men
Implementation Of Smart Techno Parenting in Shaping Children's Character to Face the Industry 5.0 Era
The use of gadgets as playmates for children has become increasingly common among modern parents. This trend has led to a shift in the parental role as play companions, especially during the developmental stage of children aged 1-5 years, known as the "golden age." This period is critical for the growth of intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence, which significantly influences a child's future development. This study aims to examine the importance of parental involvement during the golden age by implementing a technology-based parenting approach (smart techno parenting) to support the development of a child's character, personality, and cognitive abilities. The research employs a literature review method, gathering data from relevant sources to understand the concept and application of smart techno parenting. Smart techno parenting has proven to be a wise approach for parents to protect, educate, discipline, and guide their children amid the influence of technology. Parents adopting this method must continuously learn and serve as primary role models for their children. Smart techno parenting is an effective strategy for optimizing a child's development during the golden age, enabling parents to act as intelligent companions who utilize technology wisely without neglecting the child's fundamental needs for play, learning, and direct interaction
The Relevance of Philosophy in Christianity: An Analysis of Philosophy's Contribution to Theological Understanding and Faith Practice
The role of philosophy in Christianity has been a topic of intense discussion since the Patristic era. Philosophy is often viewed as ambiguous in its contributions to theological understanding and the practice of faith. This study aims to analyze the relevance of philosophy in Christianity, particularly as a support for theological reflection and the practical life of Christians. Using a qualitative approach, the research integrates an in-depth literature review of the works of major Christian philosophers such as Augustine, Thomas Aquinas, and Karl Rahner, while also exploring the interaction between philosophy and theology in a contemporary context. The findings reveal that philosophy plays a significant role in three main aspects: (1) providing a rational framework for understanding and communicating theological doctrines, (2) serving as a tool for critical thinking in addressing modern intellectual challenges to faith, and (3) acting as an ethical foundation supporting Christian life practices. These results also indicate that the integration of philosophy with theology enriches the experience of faith and opens constructive interdisciplinary dialogue. In conclusion, philosophy is not only relevant but also essential in strengthening the foundations of Christian theology while advancing a more reflective life of faith. This study makes a significant contribution to the development of interdisciplinary studies between philosophy and theology, offering new insights for church leaders, academics, and Christians in exploring faith rationally and holistically

Problem Ajaran Inkarnasi Mistis dalam Kristologi: Analisa Dogmatis dan Teologis
This article discusses the understanding of mystical incarnation within the context of the Logos Seminar, a theological forum that often provides alternative perspectives on traditional doctrines. The main focus of the article is the differing interpretation of incarnation presented by the Logos Seminar compared to the traditional understanding of incarnation upheld by the Church. The Logos Seminar claims that the Church’s understanding of incarnation has been influenced by pagan culture, leading to a mystical interpretation of the concept. The aim of this study is to critically examine the mystical incarnation concept promoted by the Logos Seminar and to evaluate its theological claims in comparison to traditional doctrines and systematic theology scholars' views. Through dogmatic and theological analysis, the author explores the core ideas of mystical incarnation and compares them with the perspectives of systematic theology scholars. The findings reveal that the mystical incarnation concept contradicts two key aspects: (1) the theological meaning of "God coming into the world" as described in several letters of the New Testament, and (2) the approach proposed by mystical incarnation differs from previous scholars' approaches, who, despite their varying methods, consistently emphasized the divinity of Jesus during His ministry on earth. While John’s Gospel introduces the incarnation as part of the mission of salvation, the mystical incarnation views it as a human process, placing Jesus on par with ordinary humans, comparable to Adam
