Parental Role in Digital Era Character Formation: A Deuteronomy 6:4-9 Perspective

The digital transformation has fundamentally altered family dynamics and child development patterns, creating unprecedented challenges for moral and spiritual formation within contemporary families. While technology offers substantial benefits, unregulated digital exposure poses significant risks to children's character development and spiritual growth. This study examines the critical role of parents in fostering moral and spiritual development among family members during the digital era, utilizing biblical principles from Deuteronomy 6:4-9 as a theoretical framework. A systematic literature review methodology was employed, analyzing peer-reviewed publications from 2018-2024 focusing on parental influence, digital era challenges, and family-based character formation. Data were synthesized using thematic analysis to identify key patterns and relationships between parental practices and child development outcomes. The analysis reveals that intentional parental engagement significantly correlates with positive character formation outcomes in children exposed to digital environments. Effective parental strategies include structured digital literacy education, consistent moral guidance, and active spiritual mentorship. Families implementing comprehensive digital stewardship approaches demonstrated superior outcomes in children's moral reasoning, spiritual development, and behavioral regulation compared to families with minimal parental involvement. Parents serve as primary architects of family moral and spiritual development, particularly in navigating digital era complexities. The integration of biblical principles with contemporary parenting strategies provides a robust framework for character formation. This study contributes to the growing body of evidence supporting proactive parental involvement as essential for optimal child development in technologically saturated environments

The struggle over whether salvation can be lost or not is a topic that frequently attracts attention among Christians. In the view that salvation can be lost, one of the verses used is Romans 11:22, particularly the word "cut off." On the other hand, there are views that disagree with interpreting this verse as evidence of the possibility of losing salvation. Based on these differing views, a deeper examination of the referenced verse is necessary. In analyzing this verse, the author will use a hermeneutical method with four analytical approaches: contextual, grammatical, lexical, and historical analysis. Based on the exploration of the text in Romans 11:22, it was found that the meaning of the word "cut off" does not refer to the possibility of losing salvation but serves as a stern warning that those who have been saved should not fall back into sin and transgression, as happened to the people of Israel in the past. However, if believers fall into sin, God will take firm action to remind them to repent and return to Him.The struggle over whether salvation can be lost or not is a topic that frequently attracts attention among Christians. The phenomenon of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) in the digital era has become a serious challenge impacting the mental health of church members, leading to anxiety, stress, and even depression if not properly addressed. This study aims to understand the impact of FOMO and explore the strategies and programs of churches in supporting the mental health and spiritual well-being of their congregants. This research uses a qualitative approach with literature review and a brief survey method. It identifies various efforts that churches can take to address FOMO. The results indicate that churches can mitigate the effects of FOMO by building a social support system that fosters closeness among church members, including spiritual retreats, workshops, counseling services, and mentoring programs. These findings provide practical guidance for churches to strengthen the Christian community as a safe and supportive place for individuals struggling with FOMO. To implement this, churches can form specialized support groups, integrate education about FOMO into sermons and discipleship classes, and wisely use digital media to create a more interactive and supportive community. Thus, the church plays an active role in creating a more inclusive, loving environment that promotes the holistic well-being of its members amid the challenges of the digital era

Metaphorical Analysis of eklektos, parepidemos, and paroikos in 1 Peter: Theological Identity Construction

In 1 Peter, the author employs the terminology parepidemos (parepidemos) and paroikos (paroikos), which is conventionally understood as the social status of "strangers and sojourners." However, their usage within the context of eklektos (eklektos) indicates theological semantic complexity. This study aims to analyze the construction of theological meaning in this terminology through a semantic-pragmatic approach to unveil the metaphorical dimension of Christian community identity. A textual analysis method with a semantic-pragmatic approach is employed to investigate the lexical structure of Koine Greek and conversational implicature within the communicative context of the epistle. Primary data consisting of the Greek text of 1 Peter is analyzed using biblical software and lexical concordance. The research findings demonstrate that the terminology parepidemos and paroikos does not merely refer to sociological reality but functions as theological metaphor that constructs the eschatological identity of the Christian community. The combination with eklektos creates a semantic paradox that affirms a dual ontological status: temporal alienation and membership in God's chosen community. The employment of this terminology aims to build identity consciousness that motivates ethical behavior and missiological commitment. The terms parepidemos, paroikos, and eklektos form a complex theological construction as a rhetorical strategy to strengthen Christian community identity within eschatological tension. These findings contribute to hermeneutical understanding of identity construction in New Testament epistolary literature

The word 'remain' in 2 John verse 2 TB 2 version contains problems. First, there are three Greek variants of this word, namely ????????, ??????????, and ?????. Second, each variant has a certain theological emphasis based on the chosen understanding. Third, A Textual Commentary on The Greek New Testament does not detect and identify the existence of these three variants. This article was written to achieve several goals: first, to review each variant to discover its theological meaning; second, comparing the three variants to determine which possible variation is closest to the original text of the Bible. Through a text critical approach supported by grammatical-syntactic analysis, the results obtained are that the first variant, namely ???????? (menousan) has the strongest position with a lot of support from a cultural, contextual and theological perspective. The habitual aspect can be seen in John's tendency to use the word ???? (meno) in his writings, with a total of 67 uses or 56.8% of 118 occurrences in the New Testament, even 31 ancient manuscripts including the two Great Uncial Codexes (Sinaiticus and Vaticanus) and the Vulgate choose the first version. The contextual aspect can be seen in verse 2b, namely ???? ???? ????? ??? ??? ????? which emphasizes time and from the appearance of the word ???? in verse 9 which shows harmony. The theological aspect can be seen in emphasizing the meaning of the permanence of truth (aletheia) based on lexical analysis, including its use in secular ancient Greek literature, and contextual analysis, namely the appearance of ??? ????? (ton aiona) in verse 2b and ??????? (proagon), so that John's message is that the congregation persists in the true teaching, without leaving it

In the book of 1 Samuel, the selection of Saul as king of Israel is influenced by a complex historical and theological context. 1 Samuel 14:52 highlights Saul's reliance on his soldiers in battling the Philistines, which forms the background of his leadership. Conversely, 1 Samuel 15:1-3 underscores Saul's disobedience to God's command, leading to his rejection as king. This study analyzes both aspects Saul's leadership background and his disobedience using Hebrew accent and syntax methodology to explore the theological implications. The Hebrew accent methodology aids in exploring the linguistic emphasis within the text, while Hebrew syntax examines the sentence structure that provides insights into Saul’s character. The analysis reveals that although Saul experienced notable military success, his disobedience to God’s commands was the primary factor in his downfall. There is a clear connection between Saul’s reliance on human strength and his inability to fully submit to God's will. The study concludes that Saul’s rejection was not solely due to disobedience but also reflected a lack of trust in God. These findings are relevant in theological and leadership studies, emphasizing the importance of obedience to God and warning contemporary leaders of the dangers of relying on human strength

A Sociological-Ideological Approach to Interpreting 1 Corinthians 7:1-11: The Perspective on Marriage in the Corinthian Church

This article discusses the sociological-ideological interpretation of 1 Corinthians 7:1-11, where Paul responds to the Corinthians' questions regarding marriage and celibacy. In this analysis, the social and ideological context of Corinthian society serves as the basis for understanding Paul's views. By considering the moral conditions and social structure of Corinth, the article examines how the local worldview influenced the interpretation of the text, as well as how the biblical text impacts the social life of the church. The research findings indicate that Paul's decisions about marriage and celibacy were not based on absolute principles, but rather on the specific sociological circumstances in Corinth at the time. Paul's perspective on marriage is also closely related to the Christian teaching on the sacred relationship between Christ and His church. This article emphasizes the importance of considering the social context when interpreting biblical texts, particularly in understanding issues related to family and personal relationships within the church community

God Fights to Save the Nation of Israel: A Historical-Critical Review of Exodus 15:1-21

In the context of Israel’s liberation from Egyptian slavery, God is depicted as the victor who defeats Pharaoh through the drowning of the Egyptian army in the Red Sea. God's power, surpassing that of Egypt, underscores that this deliverance was entirely the result of His might, without direct intervention from the people of Israel. Through the narrative of Exodus 15:1-21, the author highlights the relationship between the song of salvation sung by Moses and Miriam and the destruction experienced by Egypt. This song is an expression of gratitude for the victory granted by God, showing His favor towards the Israelites. The author hypothesizes that the destruction of the enemy is a manifestation of God’s glory as a Divine Warrior, who fights against sin and brings salvation to His people. The theoretical framework includes an etymological and terminological analysis of the concepts of warfare, salvation, and song in the biblical context. Warfare is seen as a divine act to display God's glory through victory over enemies. Salvation is understood as liberation from both physical and spiritual oppression, ultimately fulfilled in the name of Jesus Christ. Song, as an expression of thanksgiving, reinforces the theme of salvation in the Exodus narrative, where the Israelites celebrate their deliverance by praising God. Overall, this study affirms that the event of Israel’s liberation is central to the Old Testament’s salvation history, with God serving as the Savior and Warrior who brings victory to His people
