Bangor Hydro Electric News: December 1937: Volume 6, No.12 -- Christmas Issue
Sample paragraph:
Such a panaramic picture brings to mind the inevitable comparison of today and yesterday. Of the advances made by civilization, from the time of that first Xmas illuminated by that brilliant star. From then until a comparatively few years ago, illuminated decoration was accomplished with wax candles. Hundreds of lives every year was the price exacted by sudden fires. Then the color scheme was a pale yellow shingin on green wreaths or glass ornaments. Now we get any effect that we desire by proper choice of colored light bulbs. The flexibility and safeness of electricity not only for Christmas lighting but as a household servant cannot be over-emphasized. And as yet we know comparitively little of what electricity can be made to do.https://digicom.bpl.lib.me.us/bangorhydro_news/1027/thumbnail.jp

The Silver Aisle: The Appalachian Trail in Maine
Sample paragraph:
The proposal of The Appalachian Trail was originally advanced in 1921 by Benton MacKaye of Shirley, Massachusetts. Forester, philosopher and dreamer, MacKaye, from his wanderings in the New England forests, had conceived the vision of a trail, which for all practical purposes should be endless. He gave expression to his plan in an article, The Appalachian Trail: An Experiment in Regional Planning, in the October 1921 issue of the Journal of American Institute of Architects. MacKaye\u27s proposal aroused interest among the outing clubs in the east and The Appalachian Trail Conference was formulated to transform this dream into a reality.https://digicom.bpl.lib.me.us/books_pubs/1105/thumbnail.jp
