Enhancing Students’ Spiritual Awareness through Understanding Human Physiology in Biomedical Science Course

The increasing amount of information among the younger generation is not directly correlated with the enhancement of their spiritual awareness. This is due to the fact that science education emphasizes cognition rather than emotion and fails to include Islamic principles into its curriculum. This study seeks to examine the enhancement of students’ spiritual consciousness following their comprehension of human physiology in the Basic Biomedical Sciences course. This qualitative study purposively chose informants from among instructors and students. Data were gathered by observation, interviews, and documentation methods. The gathered data were examined by descriptive analysis methods, and their validity was assessed utilizing triangulation procedures. The study's findings demonstrate that Islam (Qur’anic verses) pertains to the concept of human physiology. Comprehending the subject of human physiology in conjunction with Islamic studies helps enhance students’ spiritual consciousness. This study underscores the significance of assembling a curriculum development committee comprising specialists in education, Islamic studies, and human physiology to create an integrated curriculum. Instructors must also be capable of utilizing the subject of human physiology to demonstrate the Greatness and Omnipotence of Allah swt

Intellectual intelligence and multiple intelligences have produced very sophisticated artificial intelligence. The progress of the artificial intelligence sector has implications for an educational paradigm that prioritizes cognition so that the ethical-spiritual dimension of education is increasingly eroded. This study aims to analyze the importance of developing heart education (human intelligence) in 21st-century education. The discussions in this literature study are focused on human intelligence, artificial intelligence, and the ethical-spiritual dimension of 21st-century education. Documented data from books, journals, and articles was then analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results show that artificial intelligence is developed in a value-free and uncontrolled manner. The impact is an increase in the number of unemployed (job automation), privacy violations, and even weapons automation. This must be controlled from an early age, both through collective awareness of ethical-spiritual values and through the development of humane, dignified, and spiritual artificial intelligence creativity. This research has implications for the importance of developing the ethical-spiritual dimension of 21st-century education, which not only fills the void in values in education but also helps educators, students, and other concerned parties find and know God

The concept of Islamic education began to be oriented towards Western theory, and the study of the Quran as a source of Islamic education began to diminish. This research examines (1) the meaning of the term fitrah in the Quran and (2) its implications for the concept of Islamic education. This literature review study uses tafsir maudui (thematic interpretation) and pedagogical approaches in analyzing the data. The data sources consist of Quran, commentary books, and several relevant books and journals. The results of the research show that fitrah in the Quran is the default factory setting for humans. Fitrah is a divine chip implanted by God in humans so that they are ready to believe in monotheism, purify themselves, and worship God. Humans who carry out their fitrah have three characteristics: accepting and practicing Islam, being sincere, and having a strong faith. Actualization of the concept of human fitrah in Islamic education can be carried out by (1) making fitrah a basic human potential that needs to be developed, (2) making education the main path in developing fitrah, (3) creating a conducive educational environment (helping the development of fitrah), and (4) cultivating a work ethic in which there is harmony and balance between the depth of religious appreciation and activities that lead to increased welfare

Literary works are often considered mere entertainment. In fact, these works can be used as educational messages, especially related to the phenomenon of transformation—tending towards decadence―of students' morals and characters amidst changing times. Educational values have shifted. Inappropriate attitudes towards teachers in the past have become commonplace today for various academic and theoretical reasons. These values are reflected in the poem Qum li al-Mu‘allimi Waffihi al-Tabjīlā by Ahmed Shawky. This poem emphasizes the importance of respect for teachers as symbols of wisdom and sources of knowledge. This research aims to reveal the meaning of Islamic education values in the poem through Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic approach. The main focus of the research is the idea of Islamic education, and the poem is the material object. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a semiotic analysis of the three main elements in Peirce’s theory: icons, indexes, and symbols. This analysis is used to interpret the representation of the values of faith, worship, and morals in the poem. The results show that the values of Islamic education in this poem are knowledge is an important part of faith; respecting teachers is part of worship, even the law is obligatory as obligatory as worshiping Allah; and learning must be based on good ethics. This study implies that respect for teachers is more important than knowledge itself. Because noble morals are a sign of the blessing of knowledge and student success
