Tendencies in the Use of the -tte Sentence-Final Quotation Form in Real-Life Conversations and Conversations in Novels
Get PDF国際交流基金日本語国際センターThe Japan Foundation Japanese-Language Institute, Urawa本稿では，「ッテ」文末引用文を例に，現実会話と小説内会話といった異なるレジスターの会話であれば，引用文の使用傾向にも違いが出てくるのかについて考察した。調査の結果，「ッテ」文末引用文は両会話ともに使用が最も多かったが，使われ方は異なっていた。また「ダッテ」文末引用文に関しては，小説内会話では「ダッテ」の文末に「？」のついた「ダッテ？」文末引用文が多かったが，現実会話では「？」にあたる上昇調の「ダッテ」はほとんどなく，多くが下降調のイントネーションであった。これらの調査結果からレジスターが異なれば引用文の使用傾向が異なることが明らかになった。なぜこのような結果になったのか考察したところ，両会話の特性が「ッテ」文末引用文の出現傾向に影響していることが考えられた。つまり，作者の意図の影響がなく，話者同士の相互作用で成り立っているという現実会話の特性と，作者の意図が存在し，登場人物だけではなく読者の存在も意識しなければいけない小説内会話の特性である。これらそれぞれの会話の特性が「ッテ」文末引用文に影響を与えているため，レジスターが異なる会話では，「ッテ」文末引用文の使用傾向が異なるのではないかと考えた。In this paper, we examined whether the use of the -tte sentence-final quotation form differed by register, focusing on real-life conversations and conversations in novels. Our survey found that the use of the -tte sentence-final quotation form was the most common type of quotation form in both types of conversations. Additionally, the sentence-final quotation form in -datte? (with a question mark) was common in conversations in novels, but very few instances of -datte pronounced in a rising intonation were found in real-life conversations. A closer examination of this difference in the tendencies of quotation use by register showed that the characteristics of the conversations affected the tendency to use the -tte sentence-final quotation form. This is because real-life conversations consist of interactions between independent speakers, while conversations in novels reflect the author's intention and need to consider not only the characters but also the readers.
