Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) and its determinant factors in the Thai non-profit sector
Thesis (Ph.D. (Development Administration))--National Institute of Development Administration, 2022The purpose of this study was to examine the extent to which strategic human resource management (SHRM) has been implemented in Thai non-profit organizations (NPOs) and therefore investigate the determinants influencing the application of SHRM in the sector. The study draws hypotheses by employing the factors from institutional and organizational levels to investigate the pivotal personnel management approach, namely strategic human resource management in the Thai non-profit sector. Besides, the study targets organization as a unit of analysis and investigation while administering the sampling methods to ensure that the study result is statistically representative.
The research methodology is a mix of qualitative and quantitative approaches. A survey questionnaire and semi-structured interviews were conducted to obtain adequate information to answer key research questions. Prior to that, a literature review of past research and studies has been thoroughly studied and, therefore, the conceptual framework and hypothesis model derived for analyzing the strategic human resource management (SHRM) practices. Following the proposed variables of this study systematically defined and operationalized, a survey questionnaire was then conducted in the target population. Finally, in-depth interviews were conducted with select organization leaders following the survey questionnaire to enhance understanding of the research findings.
Research results suggest that five out of eight determinants exhibited for hypothesis testing have a statistically significant relationship and impact on SHRM applications. These determinants are the dependence on external funds, leaders' competence, organization's culture, organization's size, and use of technology. Additionally, a firm conclusion on factors affecting the application of strategic human resource management in Thai non-profit organizations can be made regarding a government fund with supporting evidence from qualitative results. Both qualitative and qualitative analysis information indicated that funds are vital for non-profit organizations to consider when developing an organization's strategy, goal, and human resource plan. The study reveals that non-profit organizations with higher revenue or funding support tend to implement more comprehensive human resource activities than organizations with less funding support. On the contrary, limited funding support tends to adversely impact personnel management in non-profit organizations. To overcome limitations in applying SHRM, the government should consider improving relevant policy and provide essential funding support to non-profit organizations, especially associations and unregistered organizations.
Ultimately, due to limited available information on the population size and unclear definition of non-profit organizations in Thailand, the "non-profit organization" definition was grounded with the Social Welfare Promotion Act, BE 2546, which determines the population size of this study. Nonetheless, this might be slightly discrepant from the actual population size of non-profit organizations this study attempts to investigate. Therefore, future studies on relevant topics should acquire more updated and accurate information of the population size, resulting in enhancing the explanatory power of research to pursue predictive power and generalization
Acceptance of recruiting chatbots: an empirical study on the recruiters' perspective
Thesis (Ph.D. (Management))--National Institute of Development Administration, 2022In economic history, there have always been changes and disruptions within market structures and established infrastructure. One eruptive technological development is the automation of business processes. Chatbots offer a way to automate processes in an interactive-laden way via dialogues with the human inquirer. The study at hand investigates factors influencing recruiter-sided chatbot acceptance within the recruiting process. The recruiting process step of candidate interviewing serves as a high-involvement use case for the target group of the quantitative survey: Participants are recruiters in human resource departments in companies from Germany (main focus), Austria and Switzerland with candidate interviews in their recruiting processes. The first chapter contains an introduction to the topic, states the objective of the study and shows the structure of the dissertation. In the second chapter, the recruiting process is being outlined and brought together with the aspect of digitization and automation before regarding the role of chatbots in recruiting. Acceptance research and the topic of chatbot acceptance are presented in the third chapter. The fourth chapter is about the formation of the research model: Based on research on acceptance and specifically the technology acceptance model (TAM), the Human-Robot Collaboration Model (HRCAM) is transformed into the novel Human-Chatbot Collaboration Model (HCCAM) for the non-physical case of chatbots and expanded via the chatbot-relevant constructs of perceived system transparency and inertia regarding chatbot technology. Main focus of the quantitative recruiter survey is the investigation of the antecedents of recruiting chatbot acceptance according to the HCCAM model, specifically regarding job-related automation concerns. It incorporates (1) the validated TAM2 (Venkatesh & Davis, 2000) items subjective norm, job relevance, result demonstrability, and output quality, (2) the validated TAM3 (Venkatesh & Bala, 2008) items self-efficacy, perceptions of external control, and chatbot anxiety, (3) the ethical, legal and social implications (ELSI) and technology affinity items as introduced by Bröhl et al. (2019), (4) perceived system transparency (e.g., Peters et al., 2020) as well as (5) inertia (e.g., Polites & Karahanna, 2012) items adapted from related literature. The fifth chapter is about the quantitative survey for assessing the factors related to recruiters’ chatbot acceptance presenting the methodological approach. Subsequently, the empirical study results are presented in the sixth chapter. Subjective norms and perceived usefulness are found as most relevant significant acceptance criteria for chatbots in recruiting. Overall, 13 significantly influencing factors are yielded, amongst them perceived system transparency and inertia. The dissertation concludes with a discussion of the findings, a display of the theoretical and practical contributions, a conclusion section, an examination of the limitations of the study, and an outlook on future research

At present, the use or possession of cryptocurrencies among the general public are, yet, without any legal control mechanisms, and as such the abuse or illegal acquisition of such currencies could lead to catastrophic ramifications of the overall economic system and the society. According to the study of the relevant legislation and criminal measures, key issues on this topic include: the ambiguity of the legal status of cryptocurrencies, incomprehensible offences under the law which does not cover theft of cryptocurrencies and abuse of another person’s computer resources, as well as the issue relating to international cooperation. As a result, the appropriate measures in response to those issues have been explored and concluded that there should be explicit substantive legislation on the matter to ensure standardized enforcement of the laws, along with the effective implementation of mutual legal assistance in criminal matters consistent with international principles. Internal laws, domestic laws, instrument of mutual legal assistance in criminal matters will be analyzed. Also, qualitative research will be conducted by various means i.e., documentary research and gathering of information from different literature, including books, researches, statutes, textbooks, magazines, articles, and the Supreme Court decisions.
The proposal of this thesis consists of legal suggestions i.e., the legal status of cryptocurrencies should be specifically given, with enactment of additional statutory provisions to fulfill the current loopholes of the law so that certain acts are criminalized. Also, as for other suggestions, it is proposed that there should be activities for relevant officers to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise required to prevent and suppress crimes relating to cryptocurrencies. In addition, there should be outreach activities for the general public on how to securely use and own cryptocurrencies. Practical guidelines on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters via both formal and informal channels should also be gathered. This is to ensure effective control of crimes relating to cryptocurrencies under the scope of criminal law
Organizational communication management related to cycling activities during the covid-19 situation
This research aims to study: 1) Communication processes in the crisis of COVID-19 related to cycling activities, 2) Factors influencing participation in new normal cycling activities during the COVID-19 situation, and 3) Develop and verify the causal model of factors affecting acceptance and participation in new normal cycling activities during the COVID-19 situation. The study was conducted by mixed-method research using qualitative research methods, namely document analysis and in-depth interviews with key informants from three groups: senior management, experts, and operational staff, totaling 16 people. Additionally, quantitative research was conducted through a survey of a sample group of 400 people.
The study found that communication processes varied among communication groups or receivers, which can be divided into two groups: internal communication within the network group (both formal and informal communication) and external communication to the public (communication through traditional media and online media). Factors influencing participation in new normal cycling activities during the COVID-19 situation include 1) Reference group influence, 2) Communication channels, and 3) Attitudes, which affect information acceptance, leading to participation in activities and disseminating information to network groups or the general public.
The causal model of factors affecting acceptance and participation in new normal cycling activities during the COVID-19 situation is found to be congruent with the empirical data, as the indices meet the established criteria, as follows: x2/df = 2.656, GFI = .940.3, CFI = .935, NFI = .902, TLI = .900, and RMSEA = .064. Regarding the direct, indirect, and total effect of variables in the structural model analysis, it is found that only the variables of communication channels for cycling activity information and attitudes towards participating in cycling activities have a positive direct effect on participation in cycling activities at the 0.01 statistical significance level

Marketing strategies of community-based tourism for Generation Y Chinese tourists the case of Andaman cost, Thailand
Thesis (Ph.D. (Integrated Tourism and Hospitality Management))--National Institute of Development Administration, 2022The sustainable development of community-based tourism or CBT requires a dynamic balance between supply and demand sides. There are rich CBT resources on the Andaman Coast of Thailand, but not many Chinese tourists come here to visit. The Generation Y Chinese tourists who have grown up in the digital age may create new market opportunities for the development of CBT on the Andaman Coast. This poses a challenge to innovative marketing strategies for CBT. Therefore, the purpose of this study is 1) To study the current marketing strategy of CBT on the Andaman Coast; 2) To examine the travel motivation and behavior of Generation Y Chinese tourists towards CBT on the Andaman Coast; 3) To investigate the marketing mix affecting Generation Y Chinese tourists to CBT on the Andaman Coast; and 4) To propose appropriate marketing strategies of CBT on the Andaman Coast for Generation Y Chinese tourist.
The theories on CBT, marketing, innovation, tourist behavior, and related researches about the Andaman Coast have been reviewed through the literatures, and a conceptual research framework has been established to study the appropriate marketing strategies of CBT for Generation Y Chinese tourists.
The mix research method is used in this study. During February 2018–February 2019, 426 questionnaires were distributed to collect quantitative data from Generation Y Chinese tourists; meanwhile, semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect qualitative data from 30 residents and stakeholders on the Andaman Coast of Thailand, as well as 30 Generation Y Chinese tourists who are interested in CBT. Content analysis is used for qualitative research, while descriptive statistics and inferential statistics are used for quantitative research.
The results found that 1) Tourism products can be developed by the community on the Andaman Coast based on the concept of CBT and the local lifestyle. The principle of fair trade is followed in pricing, channel strategies e.g., online, offline, and partners are implemented, and word-of-mouth promotion is valued. However, the disadvantage is that there is homogenization of tourism products between communities, the pricing mechanism is not flexible enough, omni-channel marketing has not yet been established, and there are few Chinese tourists and no impressive “brand character” have been established. 2) Generation Y Chinese tourists mainly go to CBT based on experiencing local culture, eager to gain new knowledge and broaden their horizons. They like a casual atmosphere, are willing to feel nature, and enhance their relationship with relatives and friends by participating in activities together. They want to know more deterministic information before making travel decisions, attach importance to participatory interactive experiences and digital social relationships during the travel process, and have a high willingness to revisit and recommend CBT after their tours. 3) Appropriate marketing strategies are conducive to stimulating the willingness of Generation Y Chinese tourists to travel to CBT. In terms of products, “capacity”, “authenticity”, and “customized” or “value proposition innovation” are emphasized; in terms of prices, “flexible pricing” and “value for money” are approved; in terms of channels, “easily access”, “easily search”, “easily booking” and “encourage sharing” are emphasized; in terms of promotion, “digital marketing”, “affiliate Marketing”, “branding”, “converge online and offline”, “friendly relationship with local”, “word-of-mouth” and “discount” are valued. 4) The appropriate marketing strategies of CBT on the Andaman Coast for Generation Y Chinese tourist includes improvement strategy, insight strategy, fit strategy, appropriate product strategy, appropriate price strategy, appropriate place strategy, and appropriate promotion strategy
