The aim of the present study was to investigate the neuropharmacological (antidepressant) activities of Evolvulus alsinoides whole plant extract in swiss albino rats. Anti-depressant activities of the methanolic extract of Evolvulus alsinoides were assessed by behavioral tests like Forced Swimming Test (FST), Tail Suspension Test (TST), and Locomotor Activity Test in male Swiss albino rats. By measuring the levels of oxidative stress markers in the rat brain homogenates, including plasma nitrites, plasma corticosterone and catalase (CAT), reduced glutathione, malondialdehyde (MDA), and superoxide dismutase, we were also able to investigate the neuropharmacological activities. Methanolic extract of the Evolvulus alsinoides plant showed significant neuropharmacological activity in Swiss albino rats. In both TST and FST, they significantly reduced the immobility duration and demonstrated dose-dependent activity (p<0.001). It demonstrated much more activity than imipramine in FST at 400mg kg-1 (p<0.001). Compared to the control group, they demonstrated a statistically significant increase in swimming time (p < 0.001). According to our research, Evolvulus alsinoides exhibited significant antidepressant properties. It appears that the primary mechanism underlying this action is catecholamine reuptake inhibition

CHURCH AS AN INSTITUTION FOR MEDIATION IN INDIA.

Mediation is an alternative method for resolving disputes, where a neutral third party assists in guiding the discussions amongst the conflicting parties to support them in achieving an agreement. Unlike in a court of law, the mediator does not provide advice or make decisions; instead, they assist the parties in communicating and finding their own solutions. Mediation differs from the legal process in that it does not impose any decisions on the parties; rather, the parties themselves determine the terms of their settlement through mutual agreement. Unlike court rulings, which often result an outcome where one side wins and the other loses, Mediation seeks to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome for both parties. "Church mediation" is a specific form of mediation where churches play a role in resolving disputes among their members. In India, this form of mediation exists as "Reconciliation" at the parish level, though it is not widely recognized, even among parishioners of the particular diocese. The concept of church mediation or reconciliation is rooted in biblical teachings that emphasize the importance of love and harmony among people. This article will explore the potential the Church\u27s function as a mediator in resolving disputes among Christian believers in India, the reasons for its limited effectiveness thus far, the challenges of implementing church mediation in a secular country like India, and the different strategies the Church can adopt to enhance its effectiveness in this role

Understanding Trochlear Nerve Palsy: Etiological Perspectives fromthe Literature

Introduction: The trochlear nerve (cranial nerve IV) innervates the superior oblique muscle and is critical for eye movement control. As the thinnest and longest cranial nerve, it has unique anatomical and functional characteristics. Trochlear nerve palsy results in paralytic strabismus and diplopia, with treatment approaches varying based on etiology.Aim: To synthesize and analyze existing literature on the prevalence and etiology of trochlear nerve palsy (TNP).Methods: Literature review of major studies examining TNP, focusing on etiological distribution, clinical presentation, and demographic patterns across different patient populations. Results: Congenital TNP prevalence varied between 8-77.45% across studies, with most common presentation in the fourth decade of life. Traumatic causes represented 20-35% of cases, predominantly affecting males (60%) in their third decade. Microvascular causes accounted for 13-24% of cases, mainly presenting in the seventh decade and associated with hypertension and diabetes. Idiopathic cases ranged from 4-23%. Rare causes included tumors (9%) and other miscellaneous conditions (15%). Diplopia was more frequently reported in acquired versus congenital cases. Conclusions: TNP presents with diverse etiologies, varying significantly across studies. Standardized diagnostic criteria and longitudinal studies are needed for better categorization and understanding of disease progression. Early recognition of underlying causes is crucial for targeted treatment strategies, particularly in patients with trauma history or systemic vascular conditions

UNUSUAL PRESENTATION OF LOW-GRADE SYNOVIAL SARCOMA AS FLEXION CONTRACTURE OF THE KNEE

Synovial sarcoma (SS) is an uncommon type of mesenchymal tumor that commonly involves the juxta-articular region, particularly around large joints like the knee. Although synovial sarcomas are usually high-grade tumors, this case highlights an instance of a low-grade variant with benign clinical features. A boy in late adolescence presented with persistent pain and progressive flexion contracture around the knee for four years. Imaging suggested a benign lesion; however, histopathology confirmed SS. Post-surgery, the patient received radiotherapy due to positive surgical margins. A year later, he exhibited a painless knee movement with a mild flexion deformity, showing no signs of recurrence. This report emphasizes the importance of molecular analysis and careful excision for low-grade SS, given the risk of recurrence despite benign appearances

Purpose:This study aims to examine the health beliefs influencing physical exercise behaviors among Chinese adolescents in Guangdong Province, applying the HBM to investigate the relationship between health beliefs and physical activity. Focusing on adolescents from eight cities within the province, this study assesses five HBM components in relation to their physical exercise behaviors. Methods: This study collects data from 3,000 Chinese adolescents aged 10–19 across eight cities in Guangdong Province, China. Using the Health Belief Model (HBM), five factors were analyzed: Perceived Risk, Perceived Severity, Perceived Benefit, Perceived Barriers, and Perceived Self-Efficacy, with Physical Exercise Behavior as the dependent variable. Results:Overall, health beliefs among adolescents were neutral (X̅ = 2.95, S.D. = 0.43). Perceived Barriers scored the highest (X̅ = 3.00, S.D. = 0.44), highlighting challenges like academic pressures. Perceived Self-Efficacy (X̅ = 2.99, S.D. = 0.44) and Perceived Severity (X̅ = 2.99, S.D. = 0.43) were also relatively high, while Perceived Benefit (X̅ = 2.89, S.D. = 0.42) and Perceived Risk (X̅ = 2.88, S.D. = 0.42) were moderate to low. Physical Exercise Behavior was neutral (X̅ = 2.91, S.D. = 0.42), with adolescents showing confidence in maintaining exercise routines but less in resisting peer pressure or performing exercises correctly.Chikan District, Zhanjiang City, showed a significant correlation between health beliefs and exercise behavior (r = 0.458, p < 0.001). Regression analysis revealed health beliefs explained 64.9% of exercise behavior variance (Adjusted R² = 0.644), with Perceived Risk being the strongest predictor (β = 0.799, p < 0.001). Conclusion:These findings highlight the need to enhance self-efficacy and address perceived barriers to promote physical activity among Chinese adolescents
