SORCE-SOLSTICE TSIS1-SIM Irradiance Calibration Ratio (SOLTICR) V2.0
TSIS1-SIM Recalibration of the SORCE-SOLSTICE Absolute Irradiance Scale: V02This is version 2.0 (V02.0) of the SORCE-SOLSTICE to TSIS-SIM Irradiance Calibration Ratio (SOLSTICR). This data product uses the temporal overlap of the Solar Radiation and Climate Experiment (SORCE) SOlar Stellar Irradiance Comparison Experiment (SOLSTICE) and the Total and Spectral Solar Irradiance Sensor (TSIS-1) Spectral Irradiance Monitor (SIM) instruments to create an alternate SORCE-SOLSTICE irradiance calibration. This update to the SORCE SOLSTICE irradiances is an improvement in the 200nm to 310nm range due to the better accuracy of the TSIS-1 SIM irradiances (Richard et al., 2024) as compared to the SORCE SOLSTICE irradiance accuracy that depends primarily on its pre-flight calibration accuracy and in-flight stability from 2003 to 2018 (Snow et al., 2022). A similar correction was previously obtained for the SORCE-SIM instrument (STICR) (https://doi.org/10.25810/22v9-9s08) and the analysis code used for STICR was adapted to handle SOLSTICE data to generate SOLSTICR.The SOLSTICR is the mean TSIS-SIM/SOLSTICE irradiance ratio during the temporal overlap between the two missions (2018-03-23 to 2020-02-25). The high resolution (0.1nm) SOLSTICE data (sampled at 0.025nm) was convolved to the TSIS-SIM resolution to produce the high resolution SOLSTICR_hires data product from 200.0nm to 310.0nm. The low resolution SOLSTICR_lowres interpolated the SOLSTICR_hires data to the 1.0nm sampling of the publicly available SOLSTICE data product. The SOLSTICR, SOLSTICE and TSIS-1 mean spectra, plus all ancillary data needed to understand how this ratio was determined are contained in this data product. SOLSTICR (V02.0) was used to create V02.0 of the SORCE-SOLSTICE TSIS-1 Adjusted Values (SOLSTICE_TAV) irradiance data product. In simple terms:
SOLSTICE_TAV (irradiance) = SOLSTICE (irradiance) * SOLSTICRSOLSTICR V02 and SOLSTICE_TAV V02 use TSIS-SIM V13 and SOLSTICE V18 publicly available data releases. The SOLSTICR V2.0 data products are housed at CU Scholar – a collaborative service of the University of Colorado Libraries, and are available in ASCII and IDL SAVfile format at: https://doi.org/XXX .The SOLSTICE_TAV V02 appear in two locations, in NetCDF and IDL SAVfile formats for the high resolution data product, and additionally in ASCII format for the low resolution version:

A NetCDF version of SOLSTICE_TAV V02 is also available at https://lasp.colorado.edu/lisird/. An IDL file reader (http://lasp.colorado.edu/data/sorce/file_readers/read_lasp_ascii_file.pro) is available which will read the ASCII files and return an array of structures whose field names and types are defined in Section 2. The SOLSTICR IDL SAVfile contains all the information in the ASCII file, plus additional information such as the specific days during the SORCE and TSIS-1 temporal overlap which were used in the determination of the SOLSTICR. The IDL SAVfile is described in Section 3.Version V02.0 of SOLSTICR differs from V01.0 in using version 13 instead of 12 of the TSIS-1 SIM data release. The TSIS-1 ground calibration error estimate has been removed from the TSIS_UNC column and placed into the TSIS_CAL_ERR column. This provides a better representation of the actual uncertainty of TSIS-1 SIM, in TSIS_UNC, as it represents only the observed on-orbit performance. </p
