November media coverage of climate change or global warming in newspapers around the globe rose 23% from October 2025. Yet, coverage in November 2025 decreased 24% from November 2024 levels. Figure 1 shows trends in newspaper media coverage at the global scale – organized into seven geographical regions around the world – from January 2004 through November 2025. In particular, stories in Latin American outlets in November 2025 increased nearly 48% from October 2025 while the United Nations Conference of Parties meeting (COP30) on climate change took place in Belém, Brazil (Figure 2).</p
"A Groping in the Dark" : The Legacy of Enlightenment Thinking in Don DeLillo's White Noise
This thesis examines how Don DeLillo’s White Noise exposes the lingering presence ofEnlightenment narratives within the cultural logic of postmodernity. Despite postmodernism’sprofessed break from rationalism, progress, and truth as upheld by the independent, thinkingsubject, DeLillo’s novel reveals how these ideals persist, according to both Emmanuel Levinas’Totality and Infinity and Horkheimer and Adorno’s Dialectic of Enlightenment, as structures ofdomination, authoritarianism, and control. By combining postmodern theorists like JeanBaudrillard, Jean-François Lyotard, and Gianni Vattimo with the very rational, Enlightenmentthinkers like Immanuel Kant and René Descartes which the postmodernists define their criticalviews in opposition of, this thesis opens up DeLillo’s work to a discussion about Otherness,regression, and patriarchy that both critics of the Enlightenment and postmodernity fail to takeinto theoretical account. Chapter One focuses on Jack’s use of catalogue in the opening chapters.I argue that Jack uses catalogue as an exercise affirming his ability to explain and constructstable meanings. Chapter Two argues that the Airborne Toxic Event acts as the disrupting eventthat throws Jack’s explanations into question, highlighting his attempts to play the patriarch andthe professor.1 Chapter Three takes the ATE’s disruption to its apex in Jack’s confrontation withWillie Mink and the nuns. Finally, in my conclusion, I compare DeLillo’s ending with NoahBaumbach’s dance credit sequence to get to some idea of what the absurd can offer in a story soresistant to resolution.</p
Evaluation of an Electrodynamic Tether as a Means of Deorbiting a Satellite in a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit
Electrodynamic tethers (EDTs) are propellantless satellite deorbit devices that showpromise for CubeSat end-of-mission disposal. EDTs use aerodynamic drag and Lorentz forceinduced by their motion through the Earth’s magnetic field to generate a ΔV. While they havebeen successfully tested in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), they have not been tested in GeostationaryTransfer Orbits (GTOs), which are highly elliptical and subject to more complex dynamics. Usingthe Python API of NASA’s General Mission Analysis Toolkit (GMAT) software, we model the orbitof a GTO satellite with a deployed EDT, and calculate the electrodynamic and aerodynamicforces it experiences throughout its orbit. Our analysis reveals that the Lorentz forces itexperiences are very small relative to its atmospheric drag. For GTO missions, EDTs have nocomparative advantage in ΔV generation over more established drag-based deorbittechnologies.</p

Foundations of High-Performance Computing Micro-credential Checklist - Mary Dixon
This micro-credentialed course provides a foundation for addressing computing-, memory-, or storage-intensive research problems using high-performance computing (HPC). Participants who complete the course will be able to navigate the Linux command line, apply data transfer protocols, find and use software on HPC, and use a scheduler to run batch and interactive jobs. Skills acquired in the course can greatly accelerate problem solving in the computational realm. </p
NEPC Review: Resource Realities: A Comparative Analysis of Charter and District School Funding in Washington, D.C. (Bellwether, November 2024)
Over the past decade-plus, charter-school advocates have raised concerns about purported funding disparities between charter schools and district public schools. This new report from Bellwether uses tabulations of funding across charter and public schools to describe the size of the funding disparities in the District of Columbia (DC) from 2022 to 2025. The report finds that the district’s public schools are more generously funded, but it fails to prove that charter schools are underfunded or that they should, in fact, be funded at parity with public schools. The report neither applies a valid method of comparison nor acknowledges these different responsibilities. Indeed, it provides no way to determine if DC charter schools are funded at the “right level” or what that level should be. As a result, it is of limited use to policymakers—except perhaps within the district as an introductory or preliminary study.</p
DEI-Informed Dialogic Practices in Math
This portfolio represents my work from the Critical Dialogic Pedagogy Micro-Credential Program, a 10-week workshop series offered by CU Dialogues at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Through a combination of in-person dialogue practice, asynchronous learning, and applied classroom activities, I engaged with core concepts of critical dialogue pedagogy and explored ways to center intersectional equity in my teaching. The micro-credential supported me in deepening my awareness of positionality and power in instructional spaces, and helped me build skills for designing inclusive, dialogically informed learning environments. The artifacts included in this portfolio—such as a positionality statement, lesson redesign, dialogic protocols, and a personal growth reflection—demonstrate my evolving understanding of equity-centered pedagogy and my commitment to fostering dialogue across differences in my role as an educator.</p
NEPC Review: Apples to Apples: The Definitive Look at School Test Scores in Milwaukee and Wisconsin for 2024 (Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty, March 2025)
The growth of school choice programs, including publicly funded private school vouchers and charter schools, raises questions about their effectiveness and cost. A WILL report analyzes Wisconsin test score data using statistical adjustments to compare public, private "choice," and charter schools. It concludes that choice schools are more effective and lower cost, offering “more bang for the buck.” However, limitations in the data, lack of fiscal analysis, and missing methodological details weaken its claims and reduce its value for informing policy.</p

New methods include tools for studying the gradient of the modulus, ∇|u|, of the complex valued solutions of (NLS) and (emNLS) nonlinear bounds for H1(RN) functions lying below the ground state, and the analysis of function spaces with nonradial symmetry.</p
