No full textThe aim is to add a reflection on the theme of this edition, based on practical cases, that is, with publications on already-constructed works.
Projects were selected from studios operating in a Mediterranean environment, with one exception that can still be placed within the geographical limits set out in the call for articles, despite its location outside the Mediterranean basin and its harsher climate.
The selection criteria implied a focus on buildings which are unique in character; when published together, they offer a comprehensive and complementary response to the questions raised in this issue of Joelho, namely the urgent need for a move towards sustainable architecture. This response can be found in the architectural language of each case, arising from specific considerations at the stage of designing and building in each setting:

No full textIn the first half of the 16th century, happened, in the city of Lyon, the emergence of a new German printer, a member of Greyff family from Reutlingen, Sebastianus Gryphus, who has edited an important number of books in Latin, Greek and Hebrew languages. We present here some of the most appreciated phases in his life and typographic career. We analyse, also, the principal Roman and Greek titles he has printed till the end of his life, in 1556.Na primeira metade do século XVI emergiu, na cidade de Lyon, um novo impressor germânico, um membro da família Greiff, originária de Reutlingen, de nome Sebastianus Gryphus, que publicou um significativo número de livros em latim, grego e hebraico. Apresentamos aqui algumas das mais apreciadas fases quer da sua vida, quer da sua atividade tipográfica. Serviços ecossistêmicos de provisão na zona de amortecimento do parque estadual mata do Pau-Ferro, Areia – PB, Brasil: mapeamento e conflitos entre oferta e demanda
Get PDFNatural forests provide products to populations around them all over the world. In Brazil, the Buffer Zone of the Mata do Pau-Ferro State Park is an important area that offers ecosystem services, but it has faced conflicts between supply and demand. Given this, the present work aimed to map the provisioning ecosystem services provided by the forest ecosystems of the zone and identify the conflicts that occur. For the mapping of services and identification of conflicts, the matrix method was adopted, enabling the cross-referencing of supply and demand data. The results showed that supply capacity varies from high to not relevant, while demand varies between high and low. Conflict between supply and demand was observed in at least three services: nutrition from wild plants and animals, and energy from wild plants. It is clear that the agriculture and livestock farming that developed in the region before the creation of the Conservation Unit led to a reduction in fragments and an increase in demand from the population.Translator

As florestas naturais fornecem produtos para as populações situadas em seu entorno em todo o mundo. No Brasil, a Zona de Amortecimento do Parque Estadual Mata do Pau-Ferro apresenta uma importante área prestadora de serviços ecossistêmicos, porém, tem enfrentado conflitos entre oferta e demanda. Diante do exposto, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo mapear os serviços ecossistêmicos de provisão prestados pelos ecossistemas florestais da zona e identificar os conflitos que ocorrem. Para o mapeamento dos serviços e identificação dos conflitos, foi adotado o método da matriz, possibilitando o cruzamento entre dados de oferta e demanda. Enquanto resultados, verificou-se que as capacidades de oferta variam entre alta e não relevante, ao passo que a demanda varia entre alta e baixa. Observou-se conflito entre oferta e demanda em pelo menos três dos serviços: nutrição a partir de plantas e animais selvagens, e energia a partir de plantas selvagens. Verifica-se que, a agropecuária desenvolvida na região antes da criação da Unidade de Conservação levou à redução dos fragmentos e aumento da demanda por parte da população
Análise de ocorrências de incêndios florestais a partir dos mapeamentos de focos de calor e de suas áreas mais suscetíveis
Get PDFForest fires have been occurring each season with greater complexity and intensity, making the management of this disaster difficult and increasing damage and losses. This article intends to analyse 1,105 hot spots compared with the responses to the 1,559 forest fire incidents attended by the Military Fire Brigade of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) between 2015 and 2022. A positive relationship was noted between the records of occurrences/hot spots, which was stronger in the wet season and weaker in the dry season. The results suggest that as the number of hot spots increases, the number of vegetation fires also increases. The statistically significant correlation reflects the intricate interaction of climatic, anthropogenic, and geospatial variables. It was concluded that there is a need to build a new mapping that is convergent with the corporation's response actions and the pressing demand for public policies that regulate land use in a more conscious way, aiming at preventive education of the population to reduce risk of this disaster.Os incêndios florestais têm se apresentado a cada temporada com maiores complexidades e intensidades, dificultando a gestão desse desastre e aumentando danos e prejuízos. O artigo pretende analisar 1.105 focos de calor confrontados com as respostas às 1.559 ocorrências de incêndios florestais atendidos pelo Corpo de Bombeiros Militar do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) entre 2015 e 2022. Notou-se uma relação positiva entre os registros de ocorrências/focos de calor, sendo mais forte no período úmido e mais fraca no período seco. Os resultados sugerem que à medida que aumenta o número de focos de calor, também aumenta o número de ocorrências de incêndios em vegetação. A correlação estatisticamente significativa reflete a intrincada interação de variáveis climáticas, antropogênicas e geoespaciais. Concluiu-se que existe a necessidade de construir um novo mapeamento que seja convergente com as ações de resposta da corporação e a premente demanda por políticas públicas que regulem a utilização do solo de maneira mais consciente, visando a educação preventiva da população para a redução de risco desse desastre

Nikias of Nikopolis, a doctor from the school of Erasistratus, accuses Plato in front of the grammarian Protogenes, Mestrus Florus and Plutarch himself of stating that fluids pass through the lungs and of not speaking about the glottis, but indicating a chest cavity that can distinguish the rational part of the soul from the irascible part. After a quotation from Homer, Plutarch, encouraged by Florus, takes the floor in a speech defending Plato. He highlights not only the role of the lungs, but also that of the stomach/ oesophagus, trachea and bladder. The Master’s lengthy defence, while rebuking Nicia’s arrogance, also suggests that the actions of creative nature are impenetrable.Filosofia e medicina s’intrecciano nella Quaestio convivalis 7.1, dove Nicia di Nicopoli, medico della Scuola di Erasistrato, accusa Platone - in presenza del grammatico Protogene, di Floro e dello stesso Plutarco - di aver affermato che i liquidi passano attraverso i polmoni, di non aver parlato di epiglottide, ma di aver indicato una cavità del torace che fosse in grado di distinguere dell’anima la parte razionale da quella irascibile. Dopo la citazione di Omero, Plutarco, incitato da Floro, prende la parola in una ‘arringa’ in difesa di Platone, evidenziando non solo il ruolo dei polmoni, ma pure quello dello stomaco/esofago, della trachearteria, della vescica. La lunga difesa del Maestro, se da un lato tende a biasimare l’arroganza di Nicia, dall’altro suona come un’ammissione dell’impenetrabilità delle azioni della natura creatrice
