Potential of Organic Liquid Fertilizer from Rice Washing Water and Goat Urine on The Growth of Pak Choi (Brassica rapa L. var. Chinensis) Using Hydroponic Method
Hydroponics, an emerging agricultural technology, allows cultivation without soil, but using nutrient-rich water instead. This is promising for future agriculture, as it can be applied in various locations and offers higher quality production results, thus increasing market competitiveness. In addition, waste materials such as rice washing water and goat urine can be reused as valuable organic fertilizers. Rice washing water, rich in nutrients such as vitamin B1, phosphorus, calcium, and nitrogen, serves as a liquid organic fertilizer that promotes superior plant growth. Goat urine, containing natural phytohormones, supports root and shoot development, making it a useful alternative to organic fertilizers. Research shows that liquid organic fertilizers are often preferred over synthetic options in hydroponic systems due to their higher bioactive compound content and environmental safety. This study focuses on the cultivation of Pak Choi (Brassica rapa var. Chinensis) using various nutrient treatments, including rice washing water, goat urine, and AB Mix, with measured concentrations ranging from 1000 to 1400 Part Per Millions (PPM). The results showed significant differences in growth among the treatment groups, with AB Mix producing the highest plant height, number of leaves, and leaf width, indicating the effectiveness of nutrient type on plant development
Incidence of Insomnia in Geriatric Patients at the Taliwang Health Center in 2025
Geriatric individuals frequently suffer from insomnia, a sleep problem that significantly affects their general health and wellbeing. The purpose of this study is to examine the association between older adults' age, gender, and likelihood of suffering insomnia. Validated questionnaires were distributed at the Taliwang Health Center's Geriatric Clinic as part of a cross-sectional study. The findings indicate a significant relationship between aging and sleeplessness., with individuals aged ≥ 60 years being 5.342 times more likely to experience sleep disturbance than younger individuals (p = 0.0001). Gender also plays a significant role, with older men being 1.126 times more likely to suffer from insomnia than older women (p = 0.0001)
The Preparation and Formulation of Moringa oleifera Lam. Leaf Extract in Transdermal Patch
The anti-fibrotic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial qualities of moringa leaf extracts, which are high in saponins, flavonoids, steroids, and phenols, can aid in tissue regeneration and wound healing. The aim of this study was to prepare and formulate a transdermal patch of Moringa oleifera Lam. leaf extract with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as the polymers. The study was aimed at investigating the effect of various concentrations of the extract (20%, 40%, and 80%) on the physical properties of the patch, including organoleptic properties, weight uniformity, thickness, folding endurance, pH, and water absorption. Extract was made by maceration with 96% ethanol, and patches were cast by the solvent casting method. Results showed that all formulations met the required pH range (6.62–6.68), folding endurance (>300 folds), and thickness (<1 mm). However, weight uniformity and moisture absorption exceeded desired optimum values and ranged between 17% to 23%. The 20% concentration of extract exhibited the maximum physical stability. This study highlights the potential of Moringa oleifera leaf extract in transdermal patch preparations, although it needs to be optimized to improve weight consistency and water absorption
Community Structure of Macroalgae in the Coastal Waters of Klui Beach, North Lombok
Macroalgae or also called seaweed are defined as macroscopic marine algae. This study aims to analyze the structure of macroalgae community in the coastal waters of Klui Beach, North Lombok. Samplings were conducted by using the combination of line transect and quadrat method. The macroalgae data collected were analyzed for calculating of species diversity index, eveness index, dominance index, and importance value index. The results showed that the community of macroalgae in the coastal water of Klui Beach consists of 11 species. The community of macroalgae of the coastal water of Klui Beach had species diversity index value of 1,661 (moderate category), evenness index value of 0,693 (relatively non-uniform category). However, the species dominance index value was 0,246 which indicates that there was no dominance species. Ulva intestinalis was the species with the highest importance value (81,93%). This species was also recorded as the highest density. Environmental protection efforts must be considered in the development of tourism areas for the sustainability of macroalgae community in the coastal waters of Klui Beach, North Lombok
Association of Coral Life Form with Megabenthos, Pasumpahan Island, Padang City
Pasumpahan Island is a popular tourist destination in the Padang area. Increasing tourist activity is suspected to contribute to the degradation of the coral reef ecosystem, as observed during preliminary surveys. Coral reef degradation can significantly impact associated marine organisms, particularly megabenthos species. This study examined the association between coral life forms and megabenthos types through direct field observations. A quadrat method was applied using 5×5 m² plots across nine locations. Data analysis employed 2x2 contingency tables, and association strength was quantified using the Ochiai Index. Researchers identified six coral life forms and four megabenthos types, producing 45 potential association combinations. Results indicated that 39 combinations exhibited no association. The remaining six showed associations, equally divided between positive and negative. Positive associations occurred between mushroom corals and Acanthaster planci, massive corals and Tridacna spp., and encrusting corals and Trochus spp. These relationships were identified as commensal, where species coexist without direct harm. Negative associations were found between massive and encrusting corals, encrusting corals and Tridacna spp., and encrusting corals and Diadema setosum. The Ochiai Index proved effective in detecting species interactions and supporting coral reef ecosystem assessments
The Effect of Adding Ecoenzyme to Corn-Based Trichoderma asperellum Formula on the Biomass of Rice Sprouts
Improving rice productivity is a key priority to meet the increasing national food demand. This study aims to examine the effect of ecoenzyme addition to a Trichoderma asperellum-based corn medium on the biomass of rice seedlings of the Bujang Marantau variety. The research was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five ecoenzyme concentration treatments (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%) and five replications. Parameters observed were fresh weight and dry weight of seedlings after 14 days of treatment. Data were analyzed using ANOVA at a 5% significance level and followed by Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT). The results showed that ecoenzyme application did not significantly affect the fresh or dry weight of the rice seedlings. The highest fresh weight was found at 20% concentration, while the highest dry weight was at 80%. It is concluded that ecoenzyme has not demonstrated effectiveness in enhancing seedling biomass during the early growth stage, possibly because seedlings still rely on internal food reserves. The findings suggest that ecoenzyme may be more suitable for improving soil quality rather than directly stimulating early plant growth. Further research is recommended to optimize dosage, application methods, and appropriate growth stages for maximum benefit
Agroforestry Management in Realizing Sustainable Farming Systems in Dry Lands of Dompu Regency from an Ontological Perspective
Agroforestry management in dry land in Dompu Regency is important and strategic in efforts to improve resource sustainability and community welfare, namely by combining forestry and agricultural elements to create a sustainable and adaptive farming system to environmental changes. This paper aims to: (1) describe the concept and role of agroforestry in dry land farming; (2) analyze agroforestry management in realizing a sustainable farming system in Dompu Regency from an ontology perspective, and (3) analyze agroforestry models that can be developed in dry land farming in Dompu Regency. The method used in this study is a literature review: Data is analyzed descriptively. The results of the study indicate that: (1) Agroforestry is an integrated land management approach that integrates elements of forestry, agriculture, and livestock in one system to produce ecological and economic benefits simultaneously. (2) The application of agroforestry in Dompu Regency requires a multidimensional approach based on a comprehensive ontological understanding, covering physical and biological aspects, time dynamics, socio-economics, as well as axiological and epistemological dimensions; and (3) Several agroforestry models that have the potential to be developed in the dry land areas of Dompu Regency include: alley cropping (alley planting), silvopasture (combining trees and livestock), multistrata (tiered) systems, and intensive yard gardens. The selection of the right model must be adjusted to the biophysical characteristics of the land, the socio-economic conditions of the community, and the capacity of local institutions so that its implementation can run optimally and sustainably
Morphological Characteristics of Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) Leaves under Different Environmental Conditions
Cucumber (Cucumus sativus L.) is a horticultural crop with high water content, low calories, and potential benefits as an antibiotic, lipid-lowering agent, and antioxidant. This Plant has great potential for cultivation, as it can be marketed both domestically and internationally. However, cucumber production remains relatively low and has declined from 2022 to 2023. This decrease is caused by several factors, one of which is changing environmental conditions. Therefore, the plant's ability to adapt to different environmental conditions becomes a crucial factor in the effort to develop cucumber cultivation. Based on this, the present study was conducted to investigate the morphological characteristics of cucumber leaves under different environmental conditions. This research was conducted from September 2024 to January 2025 in two different locations, namely Kota Padang and Kamang Magek. The method used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 2 treatments and 20 replications. The data obtained were analyzed using a t-test at a 5% significance level. The results showed that there were significant differences in leaf length and the number of leaf vein branches between the two research locations. The average leaf length in Kota Padang was higher, at 12.21 cm, compared to Kamang Magek, which only reached 10.42 cm. In contrast, the average number of leaf vein branches in Kamang Magek was higher, at 14.65, compared to Kota Padang, which was only 13.3. Meanwhile, no significant differences were found in leaf width and petiole length between the two locations
Correlation Between Noise Levels and Noise-Induced Hearing Loss in Ground Handling Officers at Kualanamu Airport
Airport ground handling officers are highly exposed to noise from aircraft operations, potentially leading to Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). This study aims to investigate the correlation between noise levels and NIHL among ground handling officers at Kualanamu Airport. A cross-sectional observational design was applied. Data on noise levels were obtained using a sound level meter, and NIHL was assessed with a calibrated Interacoustics audiometer AD528. Among 23 officers exposed to 95 dB, 16 (69.6%) had NIHL, and among 5 officers exposed to 100 dB, 4 (80%) had NIHL. Statistical analysis using the Kruskal-Wallis test confirmed a significant relationship between noise levels and NIHL (p<0.001). The study highlights the need for preventive strategies in noisy airport environments. The conclusion is that there is a significant correlation between occupational noise exposure and the incidence of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) among ground handling officers at Kualanamu International Airport
Literature Review : Development of Monoclonal Antibodies Using The Expression System of Nicotiana benthamiana
Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) have become a key component in modern biotechnology and healthcare, playing essential roles in the treatment of diseases such as cancer, viral and bacterial infections, asthma, and in diagnostic applications. However, conventional mAb production using mammalian cell systems is costly, time-consuming, and presents scalability limitations. To address these challenges, current technological advances have led to the development of alternative platforms using plant-based expression systems. This review aims to explore the potential and progress in producing monoclonal antibodies through the Nicotiana benthamiana plant-based expression system, which offers several advantages including rapid production, cost efficiency, greater production capacity, and reduced risk of contamination. The method employed in this review is a literature study conducted through database searches (Google Scholar, PubMed, Science Direct, and others) focusing on peer-reviewed articles from 2015 to 2024. The articles were selected and then analyzed thematically was performed to extract relevant data. The results indicate that Nicotiana benthamiana can efficiently produce functional mAbs with glycosylation profiles comparable to mammalian systems. In addition, plant antibodies have also been successfully applied in various therapeutic and diagnostic studies. Further research is needed to ensure the safety and effectiveness of Nicotiana benthamiana plant-based mAb, as well as efforts to develop production scale for wider medical applications
