Dono ed economie altre: per un nuovo contratto sociale
The article focuses on the recent debate, about gift and the non-market economies, born especially around the new lecture of classical texts of Marcel Mauss and Karl Polanyi. The article is meant to show that the renewed interest is rooted in the contemporary crisis of relationships, of social ties, and in the effects of commodification of the utilitarian market economies. The theme of the gift is a narrative and theorethical tool to rethinking about the exchange and the social relationships throughout, both from the affective and private point of view than economical and collective too
Bricolage, spreco ed economia della festa
The issue of ceremony can be analyzed in terms of “cultural bricolage”: it consists of using different pieces made free by shattering and recombining them in a broader conceptual arena. Ceremonies, in fact, involve both tradition, parts of different rituals, and collective representations. In doing this, they succeed in their aim: identify new meanings which fit perfectly with contemporary lifestyles. Cultural bricolage, however, can also be investigated in terms of game and fun: in this respect two particular ceremonies will be analyzed: the battle of the oranges, characterizing the Historical Carnival of Ivrea, and the Tomatina of Buñol. The common point between the two ceremonies is waste. As we will see, waste is functional to the success of the ceremonies themselves, as they feature an exaggerated use of food, respectively oranges and tomatoes which are thrown to the public during the “battles”, in a sort of ritualized aggression
Santería e "salvezza". Un approccio olistico al benessere e alle relazioni interpersonali
Drawing from a series of interviews to a contemporary dancer in Havana, who was initiated few years ago in the Regla de Ocha, this essay focuses on the complex relations between religion and health, intending the latter as the result of an achieved harmony between body and psyche. This theme is addressed taking into account relevant tendencies in contemporary society, which is arguably characterized by a strong and lacerating contrast – emerging in multiple variants – between utilitarian mechanistic and holistic conceptions
Sostenibilità e partecipazione in due aree rurali marginali: una comparazione di progetti di sviluppo locale
The aim of this research is to study attempts of transition to sustainability in marginal rural area of the Italian mountains, comparing two cases characterized by distinct historical, geographical and cultural contexts. The San Martino and Stura valleys are compared and contrasted regarding their investments on local sustainable agriculture and ecomuseums. In both cases, local associations and institutions value heritage and landscape conservation. However, collaboration and communication between local networks and administrations is notable in one case and absent in another. Secondly, both the experiences - which to a point represent a bottom-up and a top-down sustainability initiative – suffer from a lack of democratic decision-making in their internal governance

Il dono di Keynes per l’ordine economico internazionale
The rediscovery, in the times of the crisis, of John Maynard Keynes’s proposals for postwar reform of the international economic order invites historians of economic thought to clarify the purposes of Keynes’s international diplomacy. Drawing on categories borrowed from the sociological and anthropological literatures (particularly the gift), the article proposes an original, interdisciplinary view of Keynes’s diplomacy, allowing a revival of Keynes’s peculiar vision of the complexity of international economic relations for the analysis of the current global and European economic disorder
Tra locale e globale. Sostenibilità ed empowerment nelle retoriche delle esperienze di microcredito
Muhammad Yunus (Nobel Peace Prize 2006) success in Bangladesh, has made microcredit a globally widespread practice. Since the early nineties, microcredit has been adopted by international development organizations as the privileged strategy not only in the struggle against poverty, but also in the promotion of women’s empowerment. The paper critically explores the rhetoric underpinning the discourse on microcredit, sustainability and the impact on local communities of microfinance programs. Special attention is devoted to the case studies concerning the relationship between access to credit by women and empowerment processes

La merce-dono. Etnografia della Vendita: promozioni, omaggi, fiducia
The retail surface is the result of an institutional frame who rules the way by which people interacts with commodities. It is therefore a source of information about social dynamics, an anthropological source, who must be understood on the field. This paper shows that linking goods to free gifts, a well-known sales strategy, works through the basic relational value of “trust”, usually considered far from the typical habitus of trade relations but instead fundamental to let selling good express theyr own “commodity candidacy”
Ripartire dai territori: il ruolo dell’artigianato artistico napoletano
This paper analyzes some practices to enhance and promote the artistic Neapolitan handicraft, specifically the jewelry production, historically situated in Naples, inside an area specifically called, just because of its economic activities, “Borgo degli Orefici”. Handicraft is a form of technical know-how, a set of acquired and embedded skills, binding a product to specific social and cultural contexts and distinguishing it from industrial production. The artistic handicraft is a proper production of prestige goods, but this production is often in trouble with UE policies and internationalization processes, lacking of organization and synergies. The paper therefore analyzes the actions promoted by the Comune di Napoli and the Consorzio Antico Borgo degli Orefici, with the specific aim of overcoming the isolation and making a network among different social involved actors. Finally, the paper focuses the practices that aim on one hand to enhance and promote the productive resources in the area, on the other hand to build and redefine the image of the place and Neapolitan jewelry art. This can happen not by preserving the old craft forms, but enabling the processes of revision and re-functionalization of the assets, in relation to the social and cultural context of the historical center
