“Perimetri” di sistema. Riflessioni e critiche sul mondo dell’asilo in Italia

    No full text
Authors describe, through a multidisciplinary model, the needs of applicants/beneficiaries, of international protection. Particularly, how their health narratives are correlated with the lack of suitability of the Italian asylum system. From experience at NIHMP mental health clinic since 2011, they used the ethnography method to highlight the connection between the issues observed in Italian forced migration policy and the experiences of suffering, violence, alienation, and helplessness lived by both patients and health workers

Les formes de l'action politique dans la révolution tunisienne

The outbreak of the “Arab revolutions” took the whole world by surprise. These were nothing like earlier revolutions. They made no demands in the name of religion or ideology. They had no apparent leaders, sponsors or charismatic figures. In this contribution, I would  like to address the following questions: How did the erstwhile “disorganized” and “subjugated” Tunisian multitude discover its power and reclaim its capacity to act? How did it transform itself into a historical subject? How the different voices cooperated in order to elaborate new organization forms? My answers are sustained by a field research I have developed in a recent publication (Kilani 2014)

La demarcazione religiosa del territorio nel Bhutan

    No full text
This paper deals with the symbolic organization of space in the traditional Bhutanese society on the background of the Buddhist religion. The author argues that there are different semantic networks whose ‘knots’ are monasteries, temples, stupa (mound-like structures containing Buddhist relics) and holy places. Every network consists of a specific kind of buildings or places, has both a peculiar symbolic meaning and a relationship with a facet of the religious system: theocracy, cosmology, ancestors cult.

Crescere nella migrazione. Generi e sessualità fra gli adolescenti di origine straniera

    No full text
How do the children of immigrants define and represent themselves in the Italian society? How do they build and negotiate their own subjectivity of women/men and experience their sexual bodies in adolescence? In what way their everyday experiences are different from (or similar to) those of Italian teenagers?Grounded on an ethnographic work carried out in the context of Bologna and surrounding area, the paper investigates the symbolic construction of gender and sexuality among the teenagers of foreign origin. Exploring their multiple biographical trajectories, the research reveals a pattern of resources, subjective desires, imaginaries largely shared with the younger generations, but also their multiple attempts to negotiate and challenge both parent’s expectations and Italian society’s request of “assimilation”. Giving voices to the children of immigrants, the empirical data helps us to deconstruct, through the lens of sexuality, gender and bodily practices, essentialist ideas and stereotypical representations attached to the so-called second generations as well as to discuss the role play by structural inequalities and exclusionary processes in shaping their experience of being adolescents.

Vendetta. Theory and practice of conflicts resolution

    No full text
Taking as ethnographic material the blood feud in Albania in the twentieth century, this article aims to show that both the blood feud and the feud are manifested through the exercise of violence and according to the defense of moral or material interests of a group. Nevertheless, they respond to a  different logic. The general assumption of this study is that the values of the feuding paradigm are negotiable; as such, they can be at play and can be constantly modified even in contexts functionally renewed

    No full text
This contribution is focused on the two different models of communal management of integration existing in Tunisia respectively in the North and in the South of the Country. It is firstly ascertained the existence of models of integration based on the idea of the pre-eminence of the “extraneousness” in the South and on the antiquity of the autochthony in the North. It is after given some answers to questions concerning the exactness of the geographical division itself, the margins of negotiation differently emerging in the two models, the social implications of these forms of communal management of integration and the meaning to give to the change in status of the “extraneousness”

Crisi identitaria e speculazione panarabista nella Tunisia post-rivoluzionaria: che ne facciamo della tunisianità e della lingua tunisina?

    No full text
This text speaks about two very important problems existing in Tunisia, after revolution: identity and language. The problem about Tunisian identity is very present in Tunisia, because the article 38 of constitution speaks about Arabic-Muslim identity, but that, it is not correspond to the reality, because we have to talk about  a specific identity character of the country. “Tunisianity”, it’s the wright answer to the article 38.Second important question is the language. Always the article 38 of the constitution voted by the Islamic party at that time at the power, says that the national language is Arabic. Even that not correspond to the linguistic reality of the country, because classical Arabic is not spoken in Tunisia. People speaks Tunisian Arabic. So the text analyses the dangers of the article 38 about the real Tunisian identity and Tunisian language

La vita è altrove? L'autunno mediterraneo dei pensionati italiani in Tunisia, tra conflitti e crisi.

    No full text
This text summarizes an ethnographic research started recently in Tunisia, aimed at the recognition of a migratory phenomenon that concerns the Italian retirees. Such exodus involves some questions: is it just a phenomenon which refers to the crisis without precedent of the Italian welfare system? Can we bring this new flow to the dissatisfaction of people who no longer recognize the world in which they lived and who lost their freedom of action and dignity of membership? Can we apply also in this case the canonical meaning of migrant as “atopos”, “displaced”, hybrid, which exists only for defect in the community of origin and for excess in that of reception? With the first data collected, we will attempt to outline some provisional answers and to bring out the anthropological sense of the phenomenon

L’economia occulta dei “soldi facili” tra i minatori di diamante della Sierra Leone

    No full text
The idea of earning “easy money” is one of the reason that attracts diamond seekers in the mines of Sierra Leone. Only few miners, however, are successful and actually enrich themselves. In this paper I deal with the issue of how to make sense of those ritual practices and religious ideas that arise among miners to explain the wealth acquired by colleagues through non-trasparent and occult means

Sistemi di dono-reciprocità nel sistema economico capitalista: utopia o coesistenza feconda? Il caso dell’Economia di Comunione nella libertà

    No full text
This article analyzes the Economy of Communion in Freedom (EoC), an economic phenomenon that was born in 1991 in Brazil and is nowadays widespread worldwide , with some 860 companies informing their actions towards the primary objective to create a society without poverty, in order to achieve a more general aim: “make humankind one family”. Hypothesis of this article is that the EoC, due to his embeddedness in a particular cultural practice, inserts into capitalist system typical  elements from a gift-reciprocity system, similar to the one observed by anthropologists in archaic and traditional societies,  able to create “reciprocity” and “properly social bonds” beside the instrumental and powerfull relationships. To investigate this hypothesis the EoC is seen as a process, paying attention to the forms of exchange implemented, and as a sociological  place focusing the analysis on the actions and relations system, targeting in particular three groups of actors: 1. entrepreneurs, 2. poors that are aid recipents, and 3. management committees that are centrally or locally responsible of the distribution of such aid. The research has been informed by data collected through an on-the-field observation period in Brazil, with qualitative techniques and tools (documents and interviews) and having as theoretical perspective the Paradigm of gift of the M.A.U.S.S. (Mouvement Anti-utilitariste dans les Sciences Sociales)
