In line with the Conscientious Objection, the Voluntary Civilian Service (Italian Law 64/2001) comes as a means of Civil disobedience and nonviolent defence. It aims to promote solidarity, cooperation and education to peace through the mediation of the conflicts. Lately it’s becoming to be rather perceived as a means of countering the youth unemployment and "staff shortages" of different institutions. After a brief historical overview, the paper focuses the analysis on people recently holding their Service abroad. Special attention is devoted to a sort of anthropological dimension that seems positively characterize this experience in recent years
L’immagine come arma.
The Euormaidan’s photos are known all around the world; this event has been described through a myriad of photos and videos. Throughout the exploration and analysis of the major Russian and Ukrainian journals’ websites, online TVs, social networks and blogs, we have gathered a large amount of visual documents. Intentionally we focused on the images produced by the protesters and the journalists that supported the protest. We decided to divide the analyzed photos into four categories: conflict, pain, memory and symbols. These categories reveal specific investments made on the photos, roles and functions bestowed to them with the purpose of bolster and strengthen the Euromaidan’s themes
Intangible cultural heritage increasingly becomes a conflict/mediation field among different issues and global/local hierarchies of value. Here the author outlines the first results of an ethnography in South-Central Italy about a group of ceremonials involving animals, recently questioned by animal rights movement associations for suspected mistreatment and its very recent legal solution
In this paper, I present the results of two studies carried out in the neighborhood of Balzac, located in Vitry-sur-Seine, in the banlieue of Paris. From 2007, the town was affected by the program, Agence Nationale de Renovation Urbaine (ANRU). I analyze the social and economic context and the role played by social workers of the Centre Social Balzac (CSB) during the plan of urban regeneration. The study of the network of migrant women (and specially the residential path of two sisters)shows that urban program reflects the social and cultural assignments and affects the local social relations of gender and family

In November 2009 the renewed display of the Museum “Cesare Lombroso” opened to visitors in Turin. A “No Lombroso” cartel of Neo-bourbon and other Southern political associations moved to protest against the Museum. They went to demand the repatriation of the brigand’s Villella skull for burial in his birthplace Motta Santa Lucia (CZ). In September 2012, I entered the No Lombroso Facebook group to conduct my online participant observation. The involvement in the day-to-day Facebook interactions highlights the performative construction of the aggressive solidarity into the web communitas
In 2007, I conducted research in the area of Bethlehem(OPT) to understand the changes caused by the construction of the security barrier on the daily life of this community. Living in a Palestinian Christian family I could share this ordinary life everyday and I was trying in my work to participate in non violent protests on Friday morning, organized by Palestinian and Israeli activists against the construction of the barrier. Palestinian and Israeli associations participate every Friday for almost ten years to the protests. Moving to the other side of the wall, in the summer of 2011 the protest inflamed, following the heels of the Occupy movement, against the rising of the price of the "cottage cheese" and especially of housing, particularly in the economic capital ofIsrael, Tel Aviv, where property’s prices have reached staggering proportions. Right here the movement has attracted the interest of scholars, especially for the ferocity with which "the movement of the tent" (or July 14) has been repressed. Apparently these two movements have nothing in common. It does not seem to agree Zvi Shuldiner, expert of Israeli policy, reflecting on how the common basis of these movements is the conflict, in all its paradoxical implications, from one side to the other of the wall. From ground clashes it evolves into the ground of meetings, where Israelis and Palestinians seek solutions from below through the movements themselves
Conflitti del lavoro, lavoro in conflitto. Trasformazioni aziendali globali e nuove forme di fragilità e precarizzazione
The paper focuses on the issue of conflict in contemporary metal-mechanic work and inside the traditional site of blucollars conflict, the factory. Based on an ethnographic research on the Fiat-Sata factory of Melfi (founded in 1993), it shows the progressive change of the line of conflict between workers and owners towards a more subjective and existential conflict between time of work and private and familiar life.As some scholars think, the ‘old fashioned’ conflict has not totally disappeared, rather it has changed its sense and value, flowing towards a different configuration. The work reduction, started in Melfi from 2011, when the factory began the decline of its production and resorting to layoffs, has radically changed the work condition and the perception of the future. The sense of the recruitment in FIAT, for the lucky ones who were hired in 1993 and 1994, was such as an existential turnabout, compared to a very contrary past; more recently, the long period of CIG (Cassa Integrazione Guadagni, from the end of 2011 to 2014), and then the new configuration of the multi-national enterprise FCA, has increased uncertainty, precariousness, fear to loss the job. In this scenario, the conflict should appear as already exceeded, or simply we have to rethink our idea of class conflict, in the current era of manufacturing production, as a new win of the upper classes.
