In Good Company:When Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Acquire Multiplex Knowledge from Key Commercial Partners
This study explores the specific conditions under which key strategic alliances of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with commercial partners can become multiplex in knowledge exchange. Using survey data from a sample of 150 Spanish SMEs in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry, we find that trust creates an appropriate context for the concurrent acquisition of technological, market, and managerial knowledge. When the SME and its key commercial partner exhibit significant strategic, technological, and market differences, however, the SME’s ability to acquire different types of knowledge diminishes considerably, reducing the positive impact of trust on knowledge multiplexit

Offense type as determinant of revenge and forgiveness after victimization:Adolescents’ responses to injustice and aggression
Victims of injustice and aggression may have strong feelings about the perpetrator(s) that may impede their efforts to cope with the victimizing experience. We examined to what extent adolescents' interpersonal responses to victimization in terms of revenge and forgiveness depend on offense type. Of 455 Dutch students from various educational levels, 379 participants reported being victimized by incidents of injustice, aggression, or violence. These incidents were categorized according to type and related to respondents' self-reported revenge, avoidance, and benevolence toward the perpetrator. Victims of criminal offenses (physical and sexual violence, theft, and threat) reported less forgiving motivations than victims of noncriminal transgressions (bullying, ostracism, and other forms of indirect aggression). Sexual violence primarily elicited avoidance, rather than revenge. Gender differences in responses to victimization depended on offense type, too. Hence, to enhance our knowledge about revenge and forgiveness after victimization, future studies may need to take offense characteristics into account.</p

Rapid Naming and Phonemic Awareness in Children with or without Reading Disabilities and/or ADHD
Employing a large sample of children from Dutch regular elementary schools, this study assessed the contributing and discriminating values of reading disability (RD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) to two types of phonological processing skills, phonemic awareness (PA) and rapid automatized naming (RAN). A second objective was to investigate whether comorbidity of RD and ADHD should be considered as an additive phenomenon as to RAN and PA. A total of 1,262 children, aged 8 to 13 years, were classified as RD (n = 121), ADHD (n = 17), comorbid (RD+ADHD; n = 16), or control (n = 1,108). Phonological processing was assessed by standardized tests of PA and RAN. Disability groups were compared to each other and contrasted to the control group. Although results indicate substantial effects for all three disability groups on both types of phonological processing, and the RAN/PA compound measure in particular, effect sizes were considerably larger for the RD groups, as compared to the ADHD-only group. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed
Do India's activities in Africa liberate and strengthen Africa's position in the Euro-African relation?
This research will analyze the economic relationship between India and Africa byanalyzing trade, investments, aid and trade agreements. Moreover, this study willinvestigate whether there is substitution effect for the economic relationship betweenEurope and Africa and compare the results to China. The engagements of India appearto be stronger in resource rich countries and prove no substitution effect for therelationship of Europe and Africa. Moreover, India is also behind China in terms oftrade. However, while India’s engagement might be smaller than China’s and Europe’sengagement, it might be more beneficial to Africa as the exports provide Africa with atrade surplus, whereas China and Europe do not. Therefore, the trade between Indiaand Africa is a positive development for Africa, especially as Africa manages to reinvestthis surplus into the development of its own econom
Remittances and household expenditure patterns in India and selected states
This paper examines the role of remittances in the livelihoods of households in developing countries. Previous studies have shown that remittances are mostly utilized for investment in estates, agricultural inputs or education; however, remittances may also be useful for smoothing consumption by poor rural households. Hence, we estimated the differences in consumption patterns for macronutrients and micronutrients between remittance recipients and non-recipients using data from Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. An instrumental variable strategy was adopted in econometric estimations of nutrient consumption to address issues of self-selection and endogeneity of net income and remittances. Furthermore, the instrumental variable quantile regression method was used to estimate the distributional effects of remittances. A major finding was that remittances increased investment in intake of nutrients such as proteins, vitamin A, vitamin C and calcium; these are nutrients that are vitally important for physical development of children and for improving the health of adults. Remittances did not have a significant effect on consump-tion of macronutrients such as carbohydrates and fats, or total calories
