ABSTRACTWith the ease of obtaining soy beans many people who open a business by producing soybean tofu, any business engaged in the field of production will be affected by raw material inventory, storage capacity of raw materials will certainly pay attention to both the raw materials to be used. Therefore, the determination of the appropriate amount of raw materials can reduce the things that can inhibit the production process to find out how much raw materials needed for a business within a certain period, the amount of tofu production depends on the amount of raw material required. The formulation of this research problem is: 1. Is the planning of raw materials inventory at home industry know in Raman Aji Village, North Raman District has been done economical? 2. How does the use of EOQ method in determining raw material inventory in home industry know economical? The results of this study are 1. Home industry know in the raw material inventory planning has not been done economical, because based on the calculation by EOQ method of ordering raw materials far more economical compared to home industry policy. 2. Based on the calculation using the EOQ method home industry knows can calculate the ordering of raw materials are economical. Home industry know also can know the order in the month of December, and ordering cost, storage cost, then calculate total cost of inventory using EOQ method. Home industry can know during the waiting time requires raw material inventory. So it can be concluded that by using EOQ method cost and time of raw material inventory more economical. Keywords: Raw Material Inventor

    Border effects among Catalan dialects

In this study, we investigate which factors influence the linguistic distance of Catalan dialectal pronunciations from standard Catalan. We use pronunciations from three regions where the northwestern variety of the Catalan language is spoken (Catalonia, Aragon and Andorra). In contrast to Aragon, Catalan has an official status in both Catalonia and Andorra, which likely influences standardization. Because we are interested in the potentially large range of differences that standardization might promote, we examine 357 words in Catalan varieties and in particular their pronunciation distances with respect to the standard. In order to be sensitive to differences among the words, we fitted a generalized additive mixed-effects regression model to this data. This allows us to examine simultaneously the general (i.e. aggregate) patterns in pronunciation distance and to detect those words that diverge substantially from the general pattern. The results revealed higher pronunciation distances from standard Catalan in Aragon than in the other regions. Furthermore, speakers in Catalonia and Andorra, but not in Aragon, showed a clear standardization pattern, with younger speakers having dialectal pronunciations closer to the standard than older speakers. This clearly indicates the presence of a border effect within a single country with respect to word pronunciation distances. Since a great deal of scholarship focuses on single segment changes, we compare our analysis to the analysis of three segment changes that have been discussed in the literature on Catalan. This comparison revealed that the pattern observed at the word pronunciation level was supported by two of the three cases examined. As not all individual cases conform to the general pattern,

Severity of Illness and Adaptive Functioning Predict Quality of Care of Children Among Parents with Psychotic Disorders:A Confirmatory Factor Analysis

OBJECTIVE:Parenthood is central to the personal and social identity of many people. For individuals with psychotic disorders, parenthood is often associated with formidable challenges. We aimed to identify predictors of adequate parenting among parents with psychotic disorders.METHODS:Data pertaining to 234 parents with psychotic disorders living with dependent children were extracted from a population-based prevalence study, the 2010 second Australian national survey of psychosis, and analysed using confirmatory factor analysis. Parenting outcome was defined as quality of care of children, based on participant report and interviewer enquiry/exploration, and included level of participation, interest and competence in childcare during the last 12 months.RESULTS:Five hypothesis-driven latent variables were constructed and labelled psychosocial support, illness severity, substance abuse/dependence, adaptive functioning and parenting role. Importantly, 75% of participants were not identified to have any dysfunction in the quality of care provided to their child(ren). Severity of illness and adaptive functioning were reliably associated with quality of childcare. Psychosocial support, substance abuse/dependence and parenting role had an indirect relationship to the outcome variable via their association with either severity of illness and/or adaptive functioning.CONCLUSION:The majority of parents in the current sample provided adequate parenting. However, greater symptom severity and poorer adaptive functioning ultimately leave parents with significant difficulties and in need of assistance to manage their parenting obligations. As symptoms and functioning can change episodically for people with psychotic illness, provision of targeted and flexible support that can deliver temporary assistance during times of need is necessary. This would maximise the quality of care provided to vulnerable children, with potential long-term benefits

Methods for meta-analysis of pharmacodynamic dose-response data with application to multi-arm studies of alogliptin

Standard methods for meta-analysis of dose-response data in epidemiology assume a model with a single scalar parameter, such as log-linear relationships between exposure and outcome; such models are implicitly unbounded. In contrast, in pharmacology, multi-parameter models, such as the widely used Emax model, are used to describe relationships that are bounded above and below. We propose methods for estimating the parameters of a dose-response model by meta-analysis of summary data from the results of randomized controlled trials of a drug, in which each trial uses multiple doses of the drug of interest (possibly including dose 0 or placebo). We assume that, for each randomized arm of each trial, the mean and standard error of a continuous response measure and the corresponding allocated dose are available. We consider weighted least squares fitting of the model to the mean and dose pairs from all arms of all studies, and a two-stage procedure in which scalar inverse-variance meta-analysis is performed at each dose, and the dose-response model is fitted to the results by weighted least squares. We then compare these with two further methods inspired by network meta-analysis that fit the model to the contrasts between doses. We illustrate the methods by estimating the parameters of the Emax model to a collection of multi-arm, multiple-dose, randomized controlled trials of alogliptin, a drug for the management of diabetes mellitus, and further examine the properties of the four methods with sensitivity analyses and a simulation study. We find that all four methods produce broadly comparable point estimates for the parameters of most interest, but a single-stage method based on contrasts between doses produces the most appropriate confidence intervals. Although simpler methods may have pragmatic advantages, such as the use of standard software for scalar meta-analysis, more sophisticated methods are nevertheless preferable for their advantages in estimation.</p

Where Worlds Collide:A typological and compositional analysis of the copper-alloy mounts from Viking Age Walcheren

    No full text
This article presents a combined compositional and typological analysis for a group of ninety Viking-Age mounts found in Walcheren, the Netherlands. This new analysis is supported by data gathered using Handheld X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (HHpXRF). The new data sheds light not only on the character of the technology available at the time, but also allows us to formulate a new hypothesis of their purpose and cultural associations within a Viking-Age, North Sea world. Similar mounts have been found in other coastal areas of the southern North Sea, but not in great numbers, suggesting that production was more likely to have been local. Their compositional and typological characteristics matched those of certain forms of Viking-Age equestrian gear, but the relatively small size of these mounts allowed for the possibility that these items were more likely used on personal equipment. Although a question over the exact dating remains, the styles suggest that close ties existed between the Frisian, Viking, and Anglo-Scandinavian worlds between the ninth and eleventh centuries. This expression of identity should be considered in a context of continued intensive relations between Frisians, Vikings, and Anglo-Saxons.<br/
