    No full text

Alexander through the Prism of Aristotle

    No full text

MACRONUTRIENT AVALIABILITY OF DIFFERENT ORIENTAL TOBACCO VARIETIES GROWN UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS

    No full text
Plants need relatively large amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. These nutrients are called primary nutrients and are commonly added as fertilizers. The other elements, the secondary macronutrients as calcium, magnesium are needed in smaller amounts. Macronutrients are essential for growth and development of all plants, including oriental tobacco. Their availability in the soil determines the overall health and growth of tobacco plants, so given the focus of sustainable agriculture, proper management of soil macronutrients is necessary while at the same time, reaching the requirement of high crop productivity and quality. In order to evaluate the macronutrient content and impact factors influencing their availability, different varieties of oriental tobacco were chosen for a field experiment (P-23, P-79, Basma and Elenski). Plants were grown under the same agrotechnical and environmental conditions, on two locations, on a colluvial-delluvial (Prilep) and fluvisol soil type (Dobrushevo). Total content of selected macronutrients was determined in the soil and leaf samples, and respectively, their mobile forms in soil samples. Availability ratios are presented by available and total content as direct measure of the potential effectiveness of the selected macronutrient in soil. Results show that availability and uptake of given macronutrients are significantly influenced by many factors. Analyzing the relationships of some soil properties and availability ratios of soil nutrients gives helpful insight in applying certain measures for specific agricultural and environmental management purpose

CONSTRUCTIVE ALIGNMENT BETWEEN OBJECTIVES, TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES, STUDENT COMPETENCIES AND ASSESSMENT METHODS IN HIGHER EDUCATION

    No full text
A high-quality learning process in higher education properly and constructively aligns essential elements: study programs and course objectives, learning outcomes, content, student workload, teaching and learning activities, assessment methods and acquisition of student competencies, which is known in the literature as constructive alignment (CA). In essence, CA is bringing into alignment the predetermined competencies, the learning and teaching activities, and the assessment types. Furthermore, CA is an outcomes-based approach to teaching in which the learning outcomes that students are intended to achieve are defined before teaching takes place. The success of students at all levels of study primarily depends on constructive alignment as one of the most significant and influential principles in higher education. Detailed knowledge of this principle and consistent application is the basic obligation of teaching staff in higher education. To develop a "constructively aligned" course unit, a teacher should start from the intended course-specific competencies, after which they should choose the most appropriate learning, instructive and teaching activities, and assessment methods for these specific competencies. The paper explains in more detail the essence of CA between student workload expressed through ECTS, study programs, course and unit objectives, learning outcomes, theoretical and practical contents, teaching and learning methodology, formative and summative assessment methods and effective acquisition of student generic and course-specific competencies. Keywords: constructive alignment, student workload, objectives, learning outcomes, learning and teaching activities, assessment, competencie

    No full text
The aim of this study was to evaluate the yield and yield components of spring barley varieties cultivated in the Republic of North Macedonia using multivariate analysеs. Five spring barley varieties (Makedo, Xanadu, Josefin Variety, Gladys Variety and Scarlet Variety) were used as an experimental material. Makedo is Macedonian variety and the other barley cultivars were introduced. The experiment design was randomized complete block with three replications, carried out on the field areas in Probistip, Republic of North Macedonia. Makedo variety showed the highest value for grain yield (6 844 kg/ha), number of spikes per m2 (668), number of grains per spike (22) and hectoliter weight (68.5 kg/hl). Using Principal Component Analysis two main components were extracted, accounted for 82.46% of the entire variability among the barley varieties for all investigated traits. The first principal component explained 59.92% of the variance and factor loading for number of spikes per m2 (0.49), grain yield (0.48) and number of grains per spike (0.47) were the most important traits positively contributing to the PC1. The second PC accounted 22.53% of the variation and the factor loading for 1 000 grain weight (0.84) was the main highly positively trait contributing to the PC2. From all spring barley varieties only Makedo had positive values by both major components. Grain yield was positively correlated with the number of spikes per m2 (r = 0.795), from the one side and from the other side, with the number of grains per spike (r = 0.632).   &nbsp

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF MADŽUN (grape molasses) PRODUCED FROM VRANEC GRAPE VARIETY BY TRADITIONAL AND INDUSTRIAL TECHNIQUES

    No full text
Grape molasses is one of the most popular and traditional food in North Macedonia, mostly used in the past decades. Mainly it’s produced using a traditional protocol (technique) of preparing the molasses, commonly known as "Madžun". The present study summarizes data for characterization of some physical and chemical properties of grape molasses (Madžun) from Vranec grape variety. Comparative analyses have been conducted for samples produced using traditional (four samples) and industrial (one sample) techniques. The water-soluble dry mater contents of the samples were determined in the range from 61.67% to 75.17%. Total sugar contents of the grape molasses (Madžun) samples were determined in the range from: 47.27%) to 72.42%. Furthermore, the content of sucrose in all samples was at low levels (<0.1%), which indicates that no sugar, additionally has been added in the production of grape molasses (Madžun). The total phenols (gallic acid) were identified in five samples and significant differences were observed between samples. Sensory analysis of the samples was carried out by a committee consisting of 7 members. All committee members were females with long-term experience in sensory evaluation of plant-based foods. The following parameters were evaluated: color, smell, taste, sweetness, acidity, texture and aftertaste. Based on the sensory evaluation data, the highest score of 17.92 points (maximum referent declared value is 20 points) was obtained for V3 sample - the best grape molasses (Madžun) produced using traditional technique. &nbsp

TESTING LOWI\u27S POLICY TYPES ON CROATIAN PUBLIC POLICIES

    No full text
The public policy classification developed by Theodore Lowi is one of the most frequently referenced, utilized, and debated frameworks in political science. This paper delves into the question of whether the concepts of distributive, redistributive, regulatory, and constitutive policies can be applied to the context of Eastern Europe. To explore this issue, a subnational comparative research design was developed to examine six Croatian public policies (economic policy, social policy, education, gender equality, media, and culture). The primary method of data collection involved expert reports, akin to Lowi\u27s original research approach. The characteristics of sampled sectors were summarized through open coding conducted at three levels, allowing for a comparison with Lowi\u27s policy types. The findings indicate that the fundamental idea of this seminal taxonomy, which highlights the variation in links between policy and politics within a single country, remains relevant. Additionally, the analysis revealed that policy goals, policy instruments, non-state actors, and their relationships with state actors are fundamental features upon which classification should be based. Future research endeavors should aim to construct a robust methodological framework with clear indicators for selected features corresponding to each policy type. This would enhance the sophistication and empirical applicability of the theory, allowing for a more nuanced understanding of policymaking dynamics in diverse contexts

SOCIOPEDAGOGICAL ASPECTS OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION OF PREADOLESCENTS AND ADOLESCENTS AS A FUNCTION OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

    No full text
This paper deals with the topic of sociological and pedagogical aspects of young people’s education in the pre-adolescent and adolescent age in the function of sustainable development. The aim of our research is, from sociological and pedagogical aspect, to: Define the categories of ecologically sustainable education; Observe and categorize the forms of ecological education present in our contemporary practice; Analyze the contents of ecological education aiming to realize sustainable development; Measure the effects of school - as the most spread and most organized form of education – on attitudes of those being educated; Instead of a conclusion to offer hypotheses for modernizing ecological education in the function of sustainable development. In accordance with the abovementioned aims, we will be faced with a number of research methods. During defining the categories, we will combine the descriptive with the method of critical observation, and the usage of fundamental concepts in everyday life. It seems that such a combination is the most adequate one for a thorough understanding of the contents and influence of education on people as ecological beings.                Using the contents analysis, we want to point at the school curricula for educating young generations about ecologically sustainable development. Comparisons and combinations will not only help us to clear up the complexity of ecological education, but also to point at a hypothetical possibility of overcoming some stereotypes in our manner of work so far. &nbsp
