ATTITUDES OF BUSINESS UNDERGRADUATES TOWARDS ENGLISH-MEDIUM INSTRUCTION FOR THEIR ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL CAREER ASPIRATIONS: A CASE STUDY
English is not only the official language of Pakistan but also the medium of instruction in higher education. Although English is often the third or fourth language for a student in Pakistan, key stakeholders have positive attitudes towards English-medium instruction. The present study was conducted to explore the attitudes of business undergraduates towards English-medium instruction for their academic and professional career aspirations. Guided by the Interpretivism research paradigm, qualitative approach was used for collection and analysis. Nineteen business students were purposively sampled from an undergraduate writing course and open-ended questionnaires were used to collect data from them. Thematic analysis technique was used to analyze the data from the written responses of the participants. The findings revealed that participants view EMI favourably because they believe it helps them to achieve both academic and professional career goals. The participants believed that they improved their chances of enrolling in universities abroad by improving their language and analytical skills, increasing their self-confidence in the classroom and excelling in extracurricular activities. Thus, EMI may help them advance in their academic careers. The research participants also considered EMI as a way to penetrate the global employment market, showcase their abilities, and leave a lasting impression on the employers. Despite offering valuable insights into Pakistani students\u27 attitudes toward EMI, the current study\u27s findings are not generalizable. Future studies should strive for larger samples and extensive nationwide surveys which will assist scholars in creating a comprehensive account of undergraduates\u27 attitudes of EMI. The findings of this study has implications for students, teachers, university administrations, and policymakers.

MANAGEMENT OF WHITEFLY (Bemisia tabaci) IN BRINJAL THROUGH INTERCROPPING
In Bangladesh, brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) is suffering from a huge loss of yield caused by whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) which sucks the sap from the plant and transmits viruses. Farmers often use chemical insecticides which leads to pest resistance and harm to the environment. Intercropping is another sustainable alternative that can control pest spread and benefit the ecosystem. An experiment was carried out at the Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Jamalpur during three winter seasons (2022-2025) involving brinjal intercropped with onion, calendula, coriander, garlic, chilli and a control with brinjal only. Research findings revealed that intercropping significantly suppressed the population of whiteflies in comparison to the control. The brinjal-coriander intercropping showed the greatest efficacy against whiteflies, reducing the pest count by 58-59%. Moreover, the intercropping significantly augmented the yield by 64-66%. The lowest whitefly density was recorded at 13.3-14.2 per leaf. Chilies were the least effective on whitefly incidence whereas onion, calendula and garlic slightly reduced it. Regression analysis showed that there was a strong negative correlation between the whitefly population with yield (R2 = 0.94). Intercropping of brinjal with coriander is a low-cost and sustainable management measure to control whitefly and enhance brinjal yield.
DYNAMICS LAGOON MODELING USING DETAILED TIME-SERIES DIGITAL TERRAIN MODEL
A lagoon is a natural feature formed at the mouth of a river due to the dynamics of river sedimentation, currents, vertical deformation, waves, and tides. Lagoons are dominated by soft soil, so their topography is dynamic. Segara Anakan Lagoon (SAL) is an area that experiences dynamic topography caused by rapid sedimentation. Changes in the dynamics of the delta topography can be tracked in the past with the Digital Terrain Model (DTM) time series extracted from the latest DTM, vertical deformation, and sedimentation data. The observation period was 1978–2021. This study aims to model topography dynamics (1978–2021) in SAL according to DTM, vertical deformation, and sedimentation data. This dynamics topography modeling uses (1) parameters of sedimentation rate and volume obtained from river basin center – Balai Besar Wilayah Sungai (BBWS) 2012, (2) DTM 2021 extracted from ALOS-2 (2017) and integrated with vertical deformation from Sentinel-1 (2017–2021) using the Differential Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (D-InSAR) method. The DTMs (1978, 1991, 2001, and 2010) are extracted using a geospatial forensics approach based on topography modeling of DTM 2021, vertical deformation (2017–2021), and rapid sedimentation data. We use the sediment rate entering SAL from the Citanduy River (8.05 million tons/year), Cimeneng River (0.87 million tons/year), and Cikonde River (0.22 million tons/year), with a total sediment supply of 9.14 million tons/year. The DTM 2021 has a spatial resolution of 1 m and has been validated in its vertical accuracy test (+17.6 cm) and its height difference test (~0 m) with a confidence level of 95 % (1.96 σ). The average vertical deformation value is –0.0240 to –0.0320 m. The results obtained are dynamics topography information (1978–2021). The DTMs (1978–2021) visualize dynamics topography changes in SAL. They are carried out by checking the dynamics of shoreline changes and cross-section profiles to determine the suitability of shapes and patterns (lagoon and delta). Sedimentation is the most significant parameter that influences the topography dynamics in SAL
RIGHT TO INFORMATION IN MISDEMEANOUR PROCEEDINGS - ANALYSIS OF PRACTITIONERS` EXPERIENCE IN CROATIA
The paper presents the results of a study on the experiences of practitioners with the right to information in misdemeanour proceedings in the Republic of Croatia. The research was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews with three groups of practitioners: prosecutors, adjudicators and defence attorneys. The research focused on three groups of rights that substantively constitute the right to information in accordance with the Directive on the right to information in criminal proceedings and the practice of the ECtHR: the right to information concerning procedural rights, the right to information concerning accusations and the right of access to the case file. Following the previously conducted theoretical-normative research, which pointed out certain inconsistencies in the current legislation on misdemeanours, the empirical research aimed to verify the results of the theoretical research and to determine the compliance of the legal framework and practice with the Directive on the right to information in criminal proceedings. The study of practitioners\u27 experiences in misdemeanour proceedings revealed the weaknesses of the current legislation and paved the way for future research and the creation of a comprehensive and coherent legal framework
INTERPRETATIVE DECISIONS OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF NORTH MACEDONIA IN THE FUNCTION OF PROTECTING HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS
The paper examines the “tense” relationship between the Constitutional Court and the Assembly through the prism of two significant innovations in constitutional judiciary in the Republic of North Macedonia. The first concerns the introduction of what, in European constitutional judiciary, is called an “interpretative decision”. Pursuant to Article 36 of the Act of the Court, the Court can conduct an initial review of constitutionality, can express doubts and instituted proceedings, and in the resolution can set out its legal positions, but defers the final decisions and prescribes a time-limit for the adopter to bring the regulation into conformity, under the repressive “threat” of a repealing or annulling decision. The purpose of this innovation is for the Court to preserve the integrity of the legal order while granting the body that adopted the contested regulation one further (time-limited) opportunity to correct itself and return to the sphere of constitutionality, thereby preventing legal vacuums that could have serious implications for the order.
The paper will analyze the objectives, the legal nature and the effect of this type of “repressive interpretative decisions”, the grounds for their introduction, and their impact on the “tense” and complex interaction between the Constitutional Court (as a negative) and the Assembly (as a positive legislator).
The second innovation consists of the introduction of the possibility for the Court to monitor the implementation of constitutionality, legality, and the rights and freedoms of individuals and citizens as guaranteed by the Constitution, and, at its own discretion, to adopt a special report indicating the need for measures to be undertaken for their realization and protection, which shall be submitted to the competent authority.
ON A CONSTITUTIONAL AND NATIONAL IDENTITY OF THE EU MEMBER STATES: SAME BUT DIFFERENT?
This article examines whether the concepts of national identity and constitutional identity in the European Union’s legal framework can be used interchangeably. By tracing the historical evolution and travaux préparatoires of Article 4(2) TEU, the paper demonstrates that the drafters consistently employed the term national identity as an autonomous concept of EU primary law, deliberately omitting any reference to constitutionality. Building on the theoretical framework proposed by Elise Cloots, the article develops a teleological and interpretative argument showing that the interchangeable use of these terms lacks textual and historical support. It then examines how Member States’ constitutional courts, particularly the German Federal Constitutional Court have constructed a doctrine of constitutional identity review rooted in national constitutional law. This jurisprudence distinguishes constitutional identity as an absolute, domestically defined limit to European integration, while national identity under Article 4(2) TEU functions as a principle of respect constraining the exercise of Union competences. The article concludes that conflating these two notions risks both conceptual confusion and constitutional deadlock within the EU. A clear differentiation between national and constitutional identity is therefore essential for maintaining a coherent balance between national sovereignty and the primacy of EU law
CHAT GPT
