Serotonergic activity estimated by EEG loudness-dependent auditory evoked potentials as a predictor of sexual SSRI side effects
BackgroundSexual disturbance is a common symptom of major depressive disorder (MDD) and may be aggravated by selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs), potentially due to elevated serotonergic activity. Loudness Dependence of the Auditory Evoked Potential (LDAEP), an EEG-based biomarker inversely linked to serotonergic activity, may help predict sexual side-effects. We investigated whether pretreatment LDAEP is associated with SSRI-related sexual side-effects and pretreatment sexual function in unmedicated patients with MDD.MethodLDAEP was obtained from 90 unmedicated patients with MDD (aged 18–56, 73 % female) before eight-week treatment with escitalopram. Sexual function was measured before and after treatment, together with sexual SSRI side-effects. We used linear and logistic regressions adjusted for age, sex, and pretreatment depressive sexual disturbances.ResultsLDAEP was negatively associated with the degree of SSRI-related orgasmic dysfunction at week eight (ß = −0.27, 95 % CI [-0.53; −0.014], p = 0.039) and predicted orgasmic dysfunction with 87 % accuracy (AUC = 0.85, 95 % CI [0.74; 0.97], p = 0.009). LDAEP was also marginally negatively associated with the degree of SSRI-related decreased libido (ß = −0.23, 95 % CI [-0.45; 0.00], p = 0.050) but did not significantly predict reduced libido (AUC = 0.83, 95 % CI [0.68; 0.98], p = 0.086). LDAEP was not associated with pretreatment sexual function.ConclusionLow pretreatment LDAEP, indicating high serotonergic activity, was associated with increased SSRI-related sexual side-effects, predominantly difficulty reaching orgasm. With further validation, LDAEP could be a useful biomarker to guide antidepressant treatment to minimise sexual side-effects
Social science contributions to the global action plan on antimicrobial resistance
Since the adoption of the Global action plan on antimicrobial resistance in 2015,1 notable progress has been made in combating antimicrobial resistance. In 2024, 178 countries had developed multisectoral national action plans, with many drawing directly on the global action plan. However, only 20 of these countries have dedicated funding for implementation, 93 have a functioning multisectoral coordinating mechanism and 121 are implementing them.2 Furthermore, very few national action plans address inequities in adverse health and social consequences of antimicrobial resistance, including from gender, disability and human rights perspectives.Current efforts to curb antimicrobial resistance have stalled.3 Without faster implementation of effective interventions, including antimicrobial stewardship, water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure, therapeutics and vaccines, antimicrobial resistance is estimated to reduce global life expectancy by 1.8 years by 2035.2The landscape of global health governance has changed dramatically since the action plan was established. Several cross-border public health crises have occurred, including a pandemic; unprecedented diplomatic challenges for multilateral organizations; and the alteration of the health funding landscape. Nonetheless, public health institutions have strengthened in many parts of the world, and the global health architecture for antimicrobial resistance is maturing through the establishment of institutions such as the Global leaders group on antimicrobial resistance and the AMR multi-stakeholder partnership platform.2 The international health community increasingly recognizes that antimicrobial resistance is not only a human, biomedical and regulatory issue, but also a social, animal, ecological and economic one.Social science research on antimicrobial resistance has gained traction in the last decade, employing a diverse set of theoretical perspectives to better understand topics ranging from antimicrobial stewardship to political coordination.4 As the action plan commitments will be updated in 2026, an opportunity exists to employ a broader social science scope to accelerate national antimicrobial resistance interventions.In January 2025, the Global strategy lab convened leading antimicrobial resistance social scientists from a variety of disciplines to determine which new ways of understanding antimicrobial resistance could catalyse and incentivize action. Three conceptions stood out as important to revisions of the action plan:2 antimicrobial resistance as socio-ecological dynamics;3 antimicrobials as essential infrastructure;4 and antimicrobial resistance as collective action problems.5In this article, we propose that these three social sciences conceptions can be applied to global action plan revisions to improve how problems are defined and their solutions implemented. These three concepts can also engage important new partners to ensure antimicrobial resistance policies are sufficiently equitable, sustainable and multisectoral

IGN har været en del af en tværfaglig forskergruppe, der fulgte Collective Impacts initiativ ”Fremtidens Bæredygtige Landskaber”. Her blev der bl.a. peget på nødvendigheden af bedre muligheder for at kombinere jordfordeling og tilskudsordninger samt tydeligere nationale mål og rammer for de lokale processer, hvis de skal løse store samfundsudfordringer inden for eksempelvis natur og klima.Dette Videnblad giver et kort overblik over baggrunden for og de foreløbige erfaringer med multifunktionel jordfordeling. Afkolonisering, boliger og kvindeforeninger i Grønland ca. 1945-1970
Housing was one of the most fundamental areas of change in Greenland after World War 2. Politicians, experts, and officials established programs aimed at nothing less than replacing all Greenlandic housing facilities. When Greenlandic women's associations began to engage with the issue in the mid-1960s, housing also became an important mobilization point for Greenlandic civil society.This article shows, firstly, that the high modernist ideas of efficient and rational planning of housing and social life in Greenland did not take hold until the 1960s, when multi-storey housing gradually became dominant. Secondly, in addition to the aim of improving health and living conditions in the country, housing planners operated on the assumption that the new housing could facilitate Greenlanders’ adaption to 'modern life'. Housing was thus a key reform tool. Finally, the analysis shows that housing projects had a far-reaching effect on Greenlandic society in terms of mobilization. The debate raised by the women's associations shows different attitudes and desires in relation to housing and lifestyles. On the one hand, many wanted modern housing with up-to-date facilities. On the other hand, they wanted influence on the development and for the housing to be adapted to a Greenlandic context
Quasinormal modes of black holes embedded in halos of matter
We investigate the (axial) quasinormal modes of black holes embedded in generic matter profiles. Our results reveal that the axial quasinormal modes experience a redshift when the black hole is surrounded by various matter environments, proportional to the compactness of the matter halo. Our calculations demonstrate that for static black holes embedded in galactic matter distributions, there exists a universal relation between the matter environment and the redshifted vacuum quasinormal modes. In particular, for dilute environments the leading order effect is a redshift 1+U of frequencies and damping times, with U∼-C the Newtonian potential of the environment at its center, which scales with its compactness C.</p
Direct current memory effects in effective-one-body waveform models
The direct current (DC) memory is a nonoscillatory, hereditary component of the gravitational wave (GW) signal that represents one of the most peculiar manifestations of the nonlinear nature of GW emission and propagation. In this work, by transforming the results provided in harmonic coordinates and quasi-Keplerian parametrization by Ebersold et al. [Phys. Rev. D 100, 084043 (2019)10.1103/PhysRevD.100.084043], valid for nonspinning eccentric binaries, we provide the DC memory in terms of the effective-one-body (EOB) phase-space variables, up to the second and a half order in the post-Newtonian expansion and up to the sixth order in the small-eccentricity expansion. Our results are then implemented in TEOBResumS-Dalí, thus providing the first EOB model with DC memory contributions. This model is then used to assess the impact on the waveform and themain features of the DC memory, also addressing its dependence on the eccentricity of the binary system at its formation.</p

Cleft-constructions in Danish (det var ikke mig der gjorde det – ‘it was not me that did it’) have been shown to vary in quantity and function between styles and genres. This study reports the findings of a corpus linguistic study of a corpus of 143 Danish clefts authored by the working-class Copenhagener Ole Kollerød in his narrative Min historie (1840). Results show that clefts in this corpus are more frequent (8.8 clefts in 10,000 words) than in edited, normalized written Danish but less frequent than in both formal and casual spoken Danish. The study also finds a surprisingly high share of adverbial clefts. I suggest that the distribution is correlated with the genre of everyday narratives.The adverbial clefts function as a way to disentangle temporal references to ‘real world time’ from deictic temporal references of the narrative. <br/
Tunable Emission in Cu(I)/Mn(II) Codoped 2D Hybrid Cd Chloride Perovskites for White Light-Emitting Diodes and Anticounterfeiting
Low-dimensional halide perovskites have recently attracted considerable attention as promising candidates for single-component white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs). However, it remains challenging to achieve highly efficient white light emission in 2D systems. Herein, white light emitting Cu+/Mn2+ codoped 2D (PPDA)CdCl4 perovskites are synthesized via a facile fabrication method. The host is weakly emissive. However, Cu+ and Mn2+ doping can lead to strong green and orange-red emission, respectively. Spectroscopic characterizations show that there are two independent emission centers, the Cu+-induced extrinsic self-trapped exciton (STE), which leads to the green emission, and the isolated Mn2+ ion which results in orange-red emission via the inherent 4T1(G)→6A1(S) transition. Interestingly, by optimizing the ratio of Cu+ and Mn2+, the codoped sample can exhibit tunable white light emission with variable correlated color temperatures and high photoluminescence quantum yields of 45.2%–51.1%. In addition, the codoped samples can also exhibit interesting excitation-dependent emission properties. This work opens up new opportunities for the development of high-performance 2D perovskite luminescent materials.</p
