THE EFFECT OF SUMMARIZING TECHNIQUE ON READING ACHIEVEMENT
This article is a report of experimental conducted at the second year students of SMA Kanjeng Sepuh Sidayu Gresik. This study was conducted to measure the effect of summarizing technique on reading achievement. The instrument used for collecting data was test. The data analysis showed that mean of pretest was 37,94 in experimental group and 33,68 in control group. The result of t-test of pre-test was 2,444 and t-critical was 1,684 in level of significant .05. And the mean of post-test was 74,52 in experimental group and 68,39 in control group. The difference between the two mean score is 6.13. The mean of the control group is lower than the experimental one. In which the highest score was 52 and the lowest score was 20 in control group and experimental group. From the data analysis, the writer got findings. The mean score of experimental group was 74.52 and the mean score of control group was 68.39. after applying the ANCOVA formula, it indicates that F-value was 4.117 and the critical value with the level of significance .05 was 4.00. The finding shows that students’ achievement of reading in posttest (after treatment) of experimental group was higher than control group. It was found out that summarizing technique was effective in reading achievement
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF “GHOST DEFINITION” IN TEACHING VOCABULARY
This research aimed to find out whether ghost definition is effective or not in teaching vocabulary at the first semester of FPBS IKIP Mataram in academic year 2013/2014”. The research design used was experimental research by using post-test design only. The population of this research was 80 students, which consist of 3 classes. Then, the researcher took only 2 classes or 52 students as the sample. In collecting the data, the researcher used the data obtained from the posttest given after treatment. By analyzing the data, researcher can find out the differences between the result of post-test of the control group and the experimental group before and after the treatment. The analysis of results may be subdivided into descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The finding show that the mean score of experimental group was higher than control group (X1 73.28 > X2 62.66) while, the score of t-test was 2.16 and t-table was 2.00856 (t-test 2.16 > t-table 2.00856) with 50 degree of freedom and the confidence level of 0.05%. Thus, conclusion of this research showed that ghost definition was effective in teaching English vocabulary. It can be concluded that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Based on the findings, it is suggested that the lecturer expected to apply ghost definition in teaching English vocabulary at any time and then the students always practice to be more active in memorizing new words
Mindfulness Based Intervention To Increase Self-Disclosure In Broken Home Children
The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of mindfulness interventions in increasing self-disclosure in broken home children in MTS N 1 Bandar Lampung. This type of research is an experimental study with the Single Subject Research (SSR) method. The subject is 14 years old grade IX student. The research design used is multiple baseline A1-B-A2. The instrument used is a scale developed from Devito's theory, which includes five dimensions, namely amount, valence, accuracy/honesty, intention, and intimacy. The study used interrater reliability to display the reliability of the data findings.The results showed an effective mindfulness intervention to increase self-disclosure in broken home children. The results of the study provide new knowledge about mindfulness interventions in broken home children to increase self-disclosure so that it can be a reference for other research or individual institutions in the provision or application of mindfulness to help improve self-disclosure.
Mengembangkan Kemampuan Sosial Anak Usia 4-5 Tahun Melalui Permainan Kartu Bergambar di TK Al Hamidy Mataram
The purpose of this study was to develop the social abilities of children aged 4-5 years through pictorial card games at TK Al Hamidy Mataram. This study uses a classroom action research method with the subjects of the study were children of group A1 with the age of 4-5 years at TK Al Hamidy Mataram in the amount of 10 people. The research instrument used in the study was the observation sheet and documentation. Data analysis in this study uses descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results of this study indicate that the picture card game has been able to develop social abilities of children aged 4-5 years at the TK Al Hamidy Mataram, which before the picture card game activity was carried out the average value of the child's social abilities was 62.8%, and after carrying out the activities games with pictorial cards have increased their average score to 81.6%
PENGARUH BIMBINGAN KELOMPOK TERHADAP KETERBUKAAN DIRI SISWA
Abstrak: tanpa self disclosure atau keterbukaan diri, individu cenderung mendapat penerimaan sosial kurang baik sehingga berpengaruh pada perkembangan kepribadiannya. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh bimbingan kelompok terhadap keterbukaan diri siswa. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pre-eksperiment dengan rancangan one group pretest posttest design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas X di MAN 2 Praya sebanyak 35 orang yang terindikasi memiliki keterbukaan diri rendah. Lebih lanjut instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesionerketerbukaan diri. Sedangkan analisis data menggunakan rumus t-tes. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan terhadap keterbukaan diri siswa dengan rata-rata peningkatan 28,457. Hasil uji dua sampel berhubungan (Paired sample t-test) didapat nilai t = 18,271 dengan p = 0,000 < 0,05 berarti signifikan sehingga kesimpulannya ada pengaruh positif dari bimbingan kelompok terhadap keterbukaan diri siswa.Keyword: Bimbingan Kelompok, Keterbukaan Dir
ENHANCING THE STUDENTS’ PRONUNCIATION USING SHADOWING TECHNIQUE AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Establishing students’ pronunciation needs a promising instructional method. One of the teachers’ efforts to develop students’ pronunciation is applying the shadowing technique. The shadowing technique was able to facilitate students to practice pronunciation skills. This study was categorized with a quasi-experimental study with the non-equivalent control group design. The samples were taken randomly using a purposive random sampling. The samples consist of 70 students that were divided into two classes, namely the experimental and control classes. The data were collected through interview, multiple-choice test, and record. Here it used descriptive and T-test analysis to find the ways they learned and the results. Finally, the researchers considered that shadowing technique is very good to be applied by the teachers and lecturers in class. The most surprising aspect of the findings are; 1) the students were motivated as long as teaching and learning conducted; 2) their response mostly positive to the way they learned; 3) and they got significant change on their pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. This change can be seen from their ability in expressing their ideas and 4) inferential statistic results; t-test was 4.077 and t-table was 2.021 with degree of freedom (df) 44 and the level of significance (0.05) in 95%
THE EFFECT OF TEAM PRODUCT TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ CREATIVITY IN WRITING AT SMPN 1 JONGGAT
This study investigated the effect of team product to improve students’ creativity in writing at the 8th-grade students of SMPN 1 Jonggat, Central Lombok in the academic year 2018/2019. The research was designed as quasi experiment research. The students were divided into the experimental group and control group. The experimental group was treated using the team product method while the control group was subjected to a conventional method. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. The data in this research was taken from the mean scores of students’ achievement and the score percentages. The subject of this research was the 8th-grade students of SMPN 1 Jonggat, which consisted of 54 students. The instruments of this research were tests and questionnaires. The mean score of students’ creativity in the experimental group was 75 and the writing skill was 76. It was higher than the students in the control group. It can be concluded that the team product had a positive effect on students’ writing skills in relation to creativity at SMPN 1 Jonggat
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO MASTER ENGLISH LISTENING SKILLS FOR NON-ENGLISH MAJOR STUDENTS
Technology plays an important role in people’s day-to-day life and various aspects of life including education also use technology. Artificial Intelligence is regarded as an example of the advancement of technology. The purpose of this study is to investigate students’ perceptions of using Artificial Intelligence mobile applications to improve English listening skills. It was under phenomenological qualitative research characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, mainly education and technology. The online interview was used to gain information from students’ on the specific theme of artificial intelligence mobile applications in improving English listening skills. The survey consists of seven questions which become category such as 1. The Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence; 2. The Knowledge of Tune In, Joox Music, VOA Learning English Listening every day, and Netflix; 3. The Use of the Applications; 4. The Reason to Use the Applications; 5. The Use of Applications in Improving English listening Skills; 6. The Influence of the Applications toward The Users; 7. The Most Effective and Efficient Applications to Improve English Listening Skills. This survey was conducted at the Faculty of Psychology in Universitas Sarjanawiyata took part in this study. Participants were three females and two males. The results showed that the most effective and efficient Artificial Intelligence mobile application to improve English listening skills is Netflix
PENGEMBANGAN INSTRUMEN PENILAIAN KINERJA UNTUK MENGUKUR KOMPETENSI LABORATORIUM MAHASISWA DALAM KEGIATAN PRAKTIKUM FISIOLOGI TUMBUHAN
This study aims to: 1) determine the appropriateness of practicum performance appraisal instruments; and 2) find out whether there are differences in competency of laboratory skills among students. The instrument development procedure refers to the 4-D model with a research trial design using one shoot case study. Before the performance appraisal instrument was applied to 77 semester IV students Department of Biology Education, FSTT, Mandalika University of Education, a validation test was first conducted by an expert. Data collection techniques using validation, testing, and observation. The instruments used in this study were instrument validation sheets, observation sheets of action laboratory skills and tests of thinking laboratory skills. Data analysis using the one way ANOVA test continued with the LSD test. The results showed that: 1) the feasibility of performance evaluation instruments developed in the valid and reliable categories; and 2) there were significant differences in laboratory skills in the three groups at ɑ = 5% in the sufficient category. The conclusion of this research is the performance assessment instrument developed can be used to train student laboratory skills. The implications of this research are expected to contribute to improving the quality of practicum assessment instruments in learning in the laboratory
Analisis Kesulitan Siswa Berdasarkan Kemampuan Pemahaman Matematis dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Cerita Pada Materi SPLDV
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kesulitan siswa berdasarkan kemampuan pemahaman matematis nya dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita pada materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel(SPLDV). Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Sasaran dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VIII SMP/MTs sederajat sebanyak 10 orang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan berdasarkan lembar tes kemampuan pemahaman matematis dan wawancara tidak terstruktur. Subjek penelitian yaitu 3 orang siswa dengan hasil tes kemampuan pemahaman matematis terendah. Berdasarkan hasil tes dan wawancara dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat kesulitan pada siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal SPLDV dalam bentuk cerita berdasarkan pada kemampuan pemahaman matematisnya. Hal ini dapat kita lihat dari hasil skor rata-rata nya yaitu sebesar 57% yang termasuk ke dalam kategori kurang. Adapun kesulitan-kesulitan yang di alami siswa yaitu belum memahami apa yang di tanyakan dalam soal, kesulitan mengubah soal cerita ke dalam simbol matematika, siswa masih kurang mampu memisalkan istilah karena masih kesulitan dalam mengklasifikasikan objek yang diketahui dalam soal, kesulitan menerapkan konsep penyelesaian secara algoritma dengan metode yang tepat, dan kesulitan mengaitkan berbagai konsep dalam penyelesaian soal
