Shallots are one of the horticultural commodities that are highly expected to be cultivated intensively. The need for shallots nationally increases from year to year. These needs cannot be increased by increasing national production. One thing that can be done to make shallots available is to use good varieties and provide growth regulators with auxin using botanical seeds (True Shallot Seed) as a seed source. This study aims to determine the effect of the interaction between varieties with auxin concentration on the growth and production of shallots. This research was carried out in the Exfam Land, Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University, Makassar, South Sulawesi Province, from August to November 2021. This study used a Split plot design which consisted of two factors, the first factor as the main factor being different plant varieties, namely Lokananta, Maserati, and Sanren. While the sub-plot is the concentration of Auxin consisted of 4 levels, namely 0 mg L-1,100 mg L-1, 200 mg L-1, and 300 mg L-1 . The experimental results showed that the red onion variety using the variety with a concentration of 200 mg L-1 gave the best results on the fresh weight of shallots (123.80 g), the dry weight of shallots (93.77 g), the tuber weight of (86.63 g/plot), tuberproduction (4.51 kg/plot), and productivity (19.50  ton ha-1). The treatment of shallot varieties using the Sanren variety gave the best results on the parameters of the number of bulbs (1.89 bulbs). The application of auxin at a concentration of 300 mg L-1 gave the best results on the tuber diameter parameter of 28.42 mm

This study aimed to evaluate the potential of combined indigenous antagonistic bacteria against Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cepae by in vitro. These bacteria were originated from coffee plant litter in UB Forest and already known their ability as a single biocontrol against F. oxysporum. The research was conducted at the Plant Disease Laboratory, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Brawijaya University. The methods consisted of isolate preparation, pathogenicity test and in vitro antagonistic test using a modified multiple culture method. The study was conducted with eight treatments and four replications.  Based on this study, there were four best treatments in inhibiting the mycelia growth of F. oxysporum more than 50% compared to the control. The highest inhibitory was Bacillus mycoides and Alcaligenes faecalis which were able to inhibit F. oxysporum up to 67,46%. This study proves the potential of a new combination of indigenous antagonistic bacteria to inhibit fusarium wilt disease

Identification of Lines Inducing Male Sterility in Hybrid Maize

Efficiency and effectiveness in controlling crossbreeding are pivotal in yielding superior hybrid varieties with desired traits such as genetic purity and high productivity. Cytoplasmic Male Sterile (CMS) is a crucial component in hybrid variety assembly. This study aims to identify the genotypes that can induce male sterile lines based on genetic diversity and the level of pollen sterility in the prospective male sterile genotypes tested, consisting of seventeen genotypes. The research findings revealed that the genetic diversity among the seventeen observed male-sterile candidate genotypes tends to vary in quantitative traits. Among the quantitative traits, JHD14 exhibited indications of being a male sterility inducer compared to the other genotypes observed, demonstrating a value of 0.00 g in terms of pollen weight. This is further substantiated by the microscopic examination of JHD14 pollen grains, which displayed 100% sterility.Â

Chinese Foreign Trade Policy within GATT-WTO: Parallel or Shadow Institutionality?

The discussion of China's rise as a global economic and political power in recent decades has been fueling various theoretical discussions based on the evolution of its foreign trade policy. Hence, empirical research method is proposed in the field of international law involving the study of institutions, norms and procedures based on academic evidence. In this sense, this article analyzes the underlying reasons why this country, despite its late insertion into the Multilateral Trading System, has a relevant influence in the present. In fact, this influence from China has generated a scenario of regionalism both in the Asia-Pacific and with other strategic partners. All this, in addition to also evidencing a progressive "shadow institutionalism". Thus, this whole previous situation means that exist a real primacy achieved by China at world nowadays which also tends, in certain circumstances, to tarnish and even undermine the role of the GATT-WTO paradigm and its logic of multilateralism. Accordingly, this implies a particular scenario that suggest a whole parallel model of authority that affects the dynamics of international relations

A TYPOLOGY TO EXPLAIN FACTORS AFFECTING THE ADOPTION OF AGRI-ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES: A CASE STUDY IN JAPAN

Like the governments of many other countries, the Japanese government is encouraging transitions to more environmentally sustainable agricultural schemes. However, there have been numerous debates around the world about what kind of farmers are willing to participate in agri-environmental practices, and no clear consensus has yet to emerge. Towards that end, some studies have used quantitative analysis to identify the demographic characteristics that affect the adoption of conservation practices, while others have used qualitative analysis to clarify the cognitive values farmers employ in their daily lives as social beings. In this study, to investigate farmers' motivational heterogeneity from the viewpoints of values and demographic characteristics, quantitative research was conducted in a rural community in the North-eastern region of Japan, where environmentally friendly agricultural practices have been used for more than 15 years. In this survey, 81 rice farmers responded to a variety of questions regarding their intentions to grow environmentally friendly rice and related demographic characteristics. Examining this data using factor analysis revealed that farmers were motivated to continue conservation practices due to three primary factors: stewardship, self-interest, and social networks. Contrary to previous studies, the stewardship factor was correlated with the self-interest factor, that indicates the emergence of a new type of environmentally friendly farmers. Also, as opposed to other studies that emphasized the importance of the stewardship and the self-interest, this study showed by cluster analysis that some farmers continued their practice solely due to the social networks. In addition, this study bridged the gap between previous qualitative and quantitative approach by indicating the relation between farmers value orientation and their demographic characteristics. To further encourage transitions to agri-environmental systems, policies that deal with farmer heterogeneity will need to be implemented. Â
