Kuder-Richardson 20 (K-20) formula was used to estimate the reliability of the instrument and a reliability index of 0.81 was obtained. Mean and standard deviation were used for answering the research questions while Analysis of Covariance was used to test the null hypotheses. The findings of the study revealed that students who were taught data processing using jigsaw instructional strategy recorded better achievement than their counterparts who were taught with the lecture teaching method. The test of hypotheses also showed that the mean difference in achievement was significant, in favour of the students in the experimental group. In view of the findings, the study recommended among others that non-governmental organizations should encourage ongoing professional development for teachers to refine their skills in implementing the Jigsaw strategy effectivel
DETERMINING THE EFFICACY OF CONTEXT-BASED INSTRUCTIONAL METHOD OF TEACHING CHEMISTRY ON STUDENTS’ RETENTION IN AGBANI EDUCATION ZONE, ENUGU STATE
This study focused on determining the efficacy of context-based instructional method of teaching chemistry on students’ retention in Agbani Education Zone, Enugu State. This method recognized the need for student centered, it also helps students develop creative and critical learning skills. Context-based instructional method (CBIM) was assigned as experimental group and exposition method was assigned as control group. Two research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The researchers adopted a quasi-experimental research design for the study (pretest, posttest non-equivalent control group) intact classes were used. The population for the study comprised all public co-education senior secondary school one (SSS1) which were tree thousand, five hundred and five (3,505). Sample size of three hundred and twenty (320) was purposively sampled; 155 males and 165 females. The researchers developed basic chemistry retention test (BCRT) as the instrument for data collection. The instrument was validated by experts and the reliability of BCRT was determined using Kuder Richardson’s formular 20 (K-R20). Reliability coefficient of 0.85 was obtained. The BCRT was administered to both groups (experimental and control group) as pretest, posttest and retention test. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer research questions while two-way analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The findings showed that experimental group recorded higher retention than the control group when taught kinetic theory and gas laws. Female students had higher mean retention scores than their male counterparts. It was recommended among others that context-based instructional method (CBIM) should be given more emphasis in the training and re-training program of secondary school chemistry teachers

Unilateralism and the Challenges of Covid-19 Vaccine Distribution in Africa: A theoretical Discourse
The study examines how the unilateral actions of States regarding purchase and distribution of Covid-19 vaccine undermined Africa’s effort to effectively secure the vaccine for its citizens. The study hypothesised that due to unilateral decisions and actions of great powers, Covid-19 vaccine distribution in Africa has been grossly inequitable, viz a vis that of Asia, Europe and America. Unilateralism and Vaccine Nationalism on one hand; and Multilateralism and Cosmopolitanism on the other hand are two broad categories of theories used to unearth the philosophical foundations of States’ actions regarding the acquisition and distribution of covid-19 vaccine. Documentary method of data collection from secondary sources was adopted to gather relevant data for the study; while qualitative descriptive method was used to analyse the data obtained. The study therefore concludes and recommends that Africa needs to rely on Africa to proffer solutions to its problems without relying so much on external powers. To do this, African Vaccine Acquisition Task Team (AVATT) must be strengthened financially and materially to deal with not just covid-19, but future viral pandemics that the continent might be entangled in

STRATEGIES, CHALLENGES AND RECOMMENDATIONS of PROMOTING COMMUNITY PARTICIPATORY APPROACH TO SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
: The paper assesses the factors constraining community participation in solid waste management and provides a way for enhancing participatory management of solid waste. The paper leverage on findings from empirical data of key stakeholders in solid waste management in Lwengo Town Council, Uganda. Methodologically, the study adopted a case study design with a mic of qualitative and quantitative data. The analysis first utilized descriptive statistics to describe the public participation practices as well as solid waste management. Qualitative data was analyzed using content analysis. Findings indicated that community mobilization, sensitization and information dissemination were inadequately or inappropriately done. The community members lacked a sense of responsibility for waste management among community members and lacked clarity on the roles and responsibilities. The town council staff lacked skills for effective mobilization, sensitization and information dissemination. The town council had limited funding among other challenges. The study recommends management and leadership of urban authorities strengthen awareness and knowledge about solid waste management through intensive mobilization, sensitization and information dissemination to the communities. In addition, the community should be trained on sustainable management of solid waste management strategies such as recycling waste for use to pull interest of the community in waste management due to associated economic gains.
