    Gauge preservation in renormalization for Yang–Mills and gravity theories

    In the present work, multiplicative renormalization procedure for Yang-Mills theories is reviewed. While this subject is not new, it is suggested that a clear understanding of these methods leads to a systematic way for interpreting the counter terms needed for non multiplicative renormalization (Dixon and Taylor in Nucl Phys B 78:552, 1974) of quantum gravity, for models such as well known Stelle Model. Some of these models are renormalizable, however they contain apparent instabilities leading to possible unitarity loss. The systematic procedure discussed along the text may be interesting, especially in the modern context, since there are efforts for avoiding with those apparent instabilities by employing variants of the standard quantization methods.Fil: Santillán, Osvaldo Pablo.     Oxygen vacancies driven filamentary resistive switching in oxide-based memristive devices

    The control and manipulation of filamentary resistive switching is essential for practical applications in fields like non-volatile memories and neuromorphic computing. However, key aspects of the dynamics of conductive filament formation and their influence on device resistance remain incompletely understood. In this work we study the dynamics of oxygen vacancies (OVs) and their role in forming low-resistance paths that facilitate the transition between high and low global resistance states in binary oxides-based memristors. We reveal that the mere formation of an OV percolation path is insufficient to induce a transition to a low-resistance state. Instead, an OV concentration exceeding a critical threshold across all sites in the filament is required to generate a low-resistivity conducting path. Furthermore, we simulate the impact of static defects -which block OV migration and would correspond to voids in real porous samples-, on filament formation. We show that there is a range of defect density values where OV percolate through the sample, leading to the formation of OV filaments, but conductive paths remain absent. Additionally, a small concentration of defects can reduce the final value of the low-resistance state, thereby increasing the ON-OFF ratio. These findings provide valuable insights into optimizing defective nanomaterials with memristive properties, which are crucial for advancing in-memory and neuromorphic computing technologies.Fil: Leal Martir, Rodrigo Ernesto.     Shapin and Shaffer´s book offers a socio-historical approach that highlights the inseparable relationship between the processes of producing "true" knowledge and the constitution of the epistemic community that produces and legitimates that knowledge and takes responsibility for it. Such legitimacy and authority are being discredited by phenomena characterized under the label of “post-truth.” The authors present their book as a study that characterizes the debate between Boyle’s “experimentalism” and Hobbes’s demonstrative method, as a response to the problem of assent and social order in the context of the Monarchical Restoration following the Civil War. I find an opportunity to reflect on the foundations of the acceptance of knowledge provided by the natural and social sciences in the current context of the post-truth phenomenon. The strategy is to follow our authors in the issue that has guided their research: How does a (scientific) community that works tirelessly to produce consensus around knowledge describe the knowledge achieved as given, rather than produced? The book reveals an interweaving between truth and trust. This will lead us to discourage dichotomies such as the given and the constructed, individualism-holism, fact-value, and move toward a consideration of “epistemic responsibility” within a communal framework.Fil: Tozzi, María Verónica.     Las heroínas de las tragedias euripideas Medea e Hipsípila coinciden en numerosos aspectos: se vincularon con Jasón, tuvieron hijos con él, se encuentran en una tierra extranjera sin la supervisión de su kýrios y están lejos de su oîkos natal. Mi objetivo consiste en analizar cómo se representa en cada drama el vínculo entre estas mujeres, sus tutores y sus casas paternas. Para ello, estudio en detalle el momento en el que se alejan de sus padres y hogares buscando definir si esos modos dispares de separación anticipan el futuro de sus propios oîkoi y herederos.The heroines of the Euripidean tragedies Medea and Hypsipyle agree on many aspects: they bonded with Jason and had children with him, they are on a foreign land without the supervision of their kyrios and away from their natal oikos. My aim is to analyze how each drama depicts the links between these women, their tutors and their parental homes. For that reason, I study in detail the moment when they drive apart from their fathers and their familiar houses attempting to define whether the different modes of separating foresee the future of their own oikoi and their heirs.Fil: Gallegos, Luciana.     Bridging the Nervous-Endocrine System and Immune Response, in Human Chagas Disease Pathology

    Chronic Chagas disease can affect multiple organs, most notably the heart and gastrointestinal tract, and in some cases, the nervous system. However, the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms of this parasitic infection remain incompletely understood. Evidence from studies in both mice with acute Trypanosoma cruzi infection and in patients with Chagas disease has revealed a range of immune-neuroendocrine alterations and metabolic disruptions.     A new theory of tensor-scalar gravity coupled to Aharonov—Bohm electrodynamics

    Tensor-scalar theories of gravitation are commonly employed as extensions of General Relativity that allow to describe a much wider phenomenology. They are also naturally generated as low energy limits of higher-dimensional or unified theories, and the gravitational scalar components can represent quantum corrections to the Einstein theory. The coupling of the scalars to an e.m. field does not introduce any relevant new physics if the e.m. action has the usual Maxwell form, implying a vanishing trace of the e.m. energy–momentum tensor. In the case of the extended Aharonov–Bohm electrodynamics, some interesting new situations are possible, which in this work are analyzed in the gravitational weak-field approximation and for a basic version of tensor-scalar gravity involving only a Brans–Dicke field plus another scalar. Since Aharonov–Bohm theory differs from Maxwell theory only in the presence of anomalous sources with local violation of charge conservation, which is thought to be possible only at a quantum level, the resulting formal framework can be useful for modeling interactions between gravitational and physical systems with macroscopic quantization. The theory contains some unknown parameters, the most important being the vacuum expectation value (VEV) ψ0 of the second gravitational scalar and the level γ of violation of local charge conservation in the e.m. sector. An attempt is made to relate these parameters to some experimental constraints. However, presently there is much space left for uncertainty.Fil: Minotti, Fernando Oscar.     Contribution of Learning in the Origin of New Niches. How Learning Can Compensate for Climbing Skills in a Non‐Specialized Amphibian

    During the origin of new niches, animals face novel situations and must adapt to access new resources. Innovative individuals may develop strategies and behaviors to take advantage of these resources, although these individuals often lack striking adaptations for the new niche. In these individuals, adequate performance must be achieved, even in cases where behaviors are not typical or usual, which does not necessarily imply optimal performance in terms of energy or speed, but rather the flexibility to choose a different scenario to pursue a biological purpose. Through experience, animals can improve their ability to perform complex movements and adapt to new conditions. We evaluated the existence of additional locomotor skills in a widespread anuran amphibian, Rhinella arenarum. This toad has a terrestrial niche, probably the ancestral condition within the genus. Therefore, it allows us to know the limits of these capacities to execute novel behaviors. Specifically, we analyzed whether the climbing abilities demonstrated by this terrestrial toad can be improved through learning. Adult male and female toads were tested in a climbing device during eight daily sessions. After training, animals improved climbing performance, measured by climbing latency, climbing speed, and stride frequency. The improvement by learning the ability to climb could thus represent an adaptation that allows the exploitation of arboreal niches. Our results indicate that it is possible that innovative individuals who manage to acquire and perfect the ability to climb could expand their range of available niches and, potentially, give rise to new evolutionary lines.Fil: Muzio, Ruben Nestor.     Identifying Highly Relevant Entries in Datasets: A Relevance-Based Classification

    In this paper, we present a methodology to classify dataset entries in datasets, based on theirrelevance for answering different specific queries. It employs a repeated individualized inference approach to identify entries with significant Shapley values, contributing with accurate answers to queries about other entries in the dataset. This information is captured in three matrices: a general relevance matrix, a Shapley value matrix, and a significant Shapley value matrix. Since usually the information in datasets is non-homogeneously distributed, relevance is often concentrated in a few entries.     Characterization of the Cerrito Banco de Arizaro formation and its relationship with Cenozoic magmatism in the Southern Puna

    La Formación Cerrito Blanco de Arizaro forma parte del extenso volcanismo cenozoico de la región de la Puna Austral. Comprende tres domos lávicos (Domos 1, 2 y 3) de morfología subcircular a ligeramente elíptica, emplazados sobre pendientes suaves. Los Domos 1 y 2 se localizan al este del volcán Aracar, mientras que el Domo 3 se ubica al este de la Vega de Arizaro. El Domo 1 está compuesto exclusivamente por lava coherente, mientras que los Domos 2 y 3 presentan tanto facies de lava coherente como de autobrechas. Petrográficamente, las rocas contienen cristales de plagioclasa, cuarzo y biotita, inmersos en una mesostasis vítrea. Los tres domos exhiben foliación de flujo, evidenciada por variaciones en la abundancia y distribución de vesículas, lo que indica un emplazamiento bajo condiciones de flujo laminar. Desde el punto de vista geoquímico, se clasifican como riolitas de alta sílice con una firma calcoalcalina y características que sugieren afinidad magmática de intraplaca. Su composición rica en sílice y el bajo enriquecimiento en elementos de tierras raras (REE) implican un fraccionamiento avanzado de fases como hornblenda, piroxeno y minerales accesorios. En comparación con otros cuerpos riolíticos de la región, estos domos se distinguen por una leve anomalía negativa en europio y relaciones moderadas de Sm/Yb, compatibles con cristalización a profundidades intermedias en la corteza.The Cerrito Blanco de Arizaro Formation is part of the widespread Cenozoic volcanism in the Southern Puna region. It comprises three lava domes (Domes 1, 2, and 3) with subcircular to slightly elliptical shapes, emplaced on gentle slopes. Domes 1 and 2 lie east of the Aracar volcano, while Dome 3 is located east of the Vega de Arizaro. Dome 1 consists solely of coherent lava, whereas Domes 2 and 3 display both coherent lava and autobreccia facies. Petrographically, the rocks contain plagioclase, quartz, and biotite crystals within a glassy groundmass. All three domes exhibit flow foliation, marked by variations in vesicle abundance and distribution, indicating emplacement under laminar flow conditions. Geochemically, the domes are high-silica rhyolites with a calc-alkaline signature and features suggesting intraplate magmatic affinity. Their silica-rich composition and low rare earth element (REE) enrichment imply advanced fractionation of phases such as hornblende, pyroxene, and accessory minerals. Compared to other rhyolitic bodies in the region, these domes are distinguished by a subtle negative Eu anomaly and moderate Sm/Yb ratios, consistent with crystallization at intermediate depths in the crust.Fil: Rosenfeld, Hernán Gabriel.
