Electrochemical Modeling Applied to Intercalation Phenomena Using Lattice Kinetic Monte Carlo Simulations: Galvanostatic Simulations
In the present work, we address the theory of the lattice-gas model to the study of intercalation materials by using a novel kinetic Monte Carlo (kMC) algorithm for the simulation of an electrochemical method of everyday use in R&D laboratories: constant-current chrono-potentiometric measurements. The main aim of the present approach is to show how to use these atomistic simulations to study intercalation materials used as electrodes in alkali-ion batteries under galvanostatic conditions. The framework can be applied to related areas. To accomplish this, we explain the electrochemical background, linking the continuum scale with the microscopic events of discrete simulations. A comprehensive theoretical approach developed in a previous work is used as a reference for this aim. The galvanostatic kMC algorithm proposed is explained in detail and is subject to validation tests. The present work may serve as a basis for future implementations of kMC under galvanostatic conditions to study phenomena beyond the applicability of simulations on the continuum scale.Fil: Gavilán Arriazu, Edgardo Maximiliano. Use of space during the final Pleistocene in site Casa del Minero 1, Argentine Patagonia. An analysis from the perspective of fauna processing practices
En este trabajo se realiza el estudio distribucional del conjunto arqueofaunístico de la unidad 4 del sitio Casa del Minero 1 –Meseta Central de Santa Cruz, Patagonia argentina– para comprender las formas de organización social de los espacios reparados durante el poblamiento temprano de la región en el Pleistoceno final. Los resultados apoyan la idea de que en el sitio se dio una sucesión de ocupaciones humanas cortas y poco intensas. La distribución y concentración de huesos en correspondencia con las estructuras de fogón y las mayores densidades de artefactos líticos sugieren una preferencia y redundancia en el uso del espacio sudeste de la cueva, donde se habrían articulado la mayoría de las actividades domésticas de procesamiento y consumo faunístico. La distribución de restos de tres especies de camélidos con marcas antrópicas señala que casi todas las actividades se realizaron en un mismo espacio alrededor de los fogones, donde también se ubican los instrumentos líticos que procesaron fauna. No obstante, el descarne de un miembro de guanaco se habría realizado lejos de los fuegos. Finalmente, la comparación del patrón distribucional con el de otros sitios arqueológicos de la región muestra similitudes y diferencias entre ellos.This article presents a distribution analysis of the archaeofaunal assemblage from Unit 4 of the Casa del Minero 1 site– located in the Central Plateau of Santa Cruz, Argentine Patagonia– to understand the social organization of sheltered spaces during the early human occupation of the region during the Final Pleistocene. The results support the idea that the site experienced a succession of brief and low-intensity human occupations. The spatial distribution and concentration of bones, in association with hearth structures and higher densities of lithic artifacts, suggest a preference for and redundancy in the use of the southeastern area of the cave, where most domestic activities related to fauna processing and consumption likely took place. The distribution of remains from three camelid species with anthropogenic marks indicates that almost all activities were carried out around the hearths, where lithic tools used for processing fauna were also located. However, the defleshing of a guanaco limb appears to have occurred away from the fire. Finally, a comparison of the spatial pattern at Casa del Minero 1 with those from other archaeological sites in the region reveals both similarities and differences.Fil: Valiza Davis, Catalina. What If We All Appear? Audiovisual Workshop in Schools Located in the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires
The outcomes of research conducted through audiovisual workshops in two public state schools located in urban poverty contexts of the Metropolitan Region of Buenos Aires reveal the manner in which students “appear” as protagonists and narrators of lives that are typically portrayed by others. The authors’ hypothesis is that this methodological approach facilitates the inclusion of students living in impoverished contexts, providing alternative perspectives on contemporary ways of life. In this context, the authors understand inclusion as the possibility of their bodies to “appear” and the creation of an alternative narrative regarding precarious circumstances. Their bodies and narratives are often silenced, and they are usually portrayed as symbols of resilience, danger or sensationalism. Their narratives are useful to discomfort the audience about social inequalities. Within this framework, the authors demonstrate how the audiovisuals by the students offer different avenues for making a presence in the political landscape, distinct from the conventional ways in which individuals experiencing poverty and precarity are conventionally depicted.Fil: Bonilla Muñoz, Marco Antonio. How well CMIP6 models simulate key boundary conditions affecting South American climate? Insights for regional modeling efforts
South America is a large continent with a wide diversity of weather and climate features, including tropical, subtropicaland extratropical regimes interacting within a complex landscape. Simulations by global climate models, as well as theirdownscaling through regional circulation models or statistical methods, are important tools, particularly when assessing theimpacts of climate change in the continent. This work evaluates 57 models of the sixth phase of the Coupled Model IntercomparisonProject (CMIP6) in their simulation of various spatial patterns and circulation features over South America. Ourevaluation aims to provide useful input for the selection of climate models to force regional simulations in South America.Therefore, we focus on spatial fields that are relevant for regional simulations, such as horizontal winds, sea level pressure,sea surface temperature (SST), and moisture and energy fluxes across the domain boundaries. Additionally, we evaluateddifferent circulation features influencing the regional climate of South America that have not been widely evaluated in thesemodels. Several indices are studied to assess the main low-level and upper-level continental-scale circulation patterns, theregional Walker and Hadley cells, the subtropical highs and the boundary SST patterns. Our results show that no singlemodel performs best across all evaluated features, highlighting the importance of in-depth model evaluation for the regionconcerning the features of interest.Fil: Arias, Paola A.. The influence of Covid-19 on mental health of employees and its impact on the work culture in the textile sector has been investigated. The objective has been to study the influences of Covid-19 on mental Health of workers and to assess the impact of mental health on organizational Work Culture. Available literature has been reviewed. It was concluded that there is a significant impact of Covid-19 on the mental health of employees. Employees faced mild to severe symptoms of depression, anxiety and distress due to prolonged working hours, change in work dynamics, isolation etc. The impact of mental health of employees also affected the work culture in organizations to some extent. A shift in work culture dynamics has been observed due to work from home and virtual mode of communication during Covid-19 pandemic. Mixing, preaching, telling stories: Three recurring literary practices in pre-service teacher education
Este artículo presenta una parte de los resultados de una investigación concluida recientemente sobre las prácticas de lectura y escritura de un grupo de estudiantes del Profesorado de Educación Primaria de un instituto de formación docente ubicado en el oeste del Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires. A fin de comprender de qué modos las estudiantes responden a las demandas de lectura de la bibliografía académica que se les plantea desde la institución formadora, combinamos una perspectiva sociocultural de la lengua escrita en uso —proveniente de los Nuevos Estudios de Literacidad— y algunos conceptos de la lingüística sistémico-funcional. A partir del análisis de un corpus integrado mayormente por trabajos escritos de las estudiantes producidos en el marco de cuatro materias del profesorado, identificamos tres prácticas letradas recurrentes: las amalgamas entre autores, las lecturas prescriptivas de la bibliografía académica y las narrativizaciones. Ofrecemos una descripción de ellas y sostenemos que cada una podría ser comprendida como el resultado de una dificultad para captar adecuadamente alguna de las tres dimensiones que, desde el enfoque de la lingüística sistémico-funcional, constituyen el contexto semiótico en el que se solicita a las estudiantes que interpreten los textos académicos y presenten los contenidos de las materias.This article presents a part of the results of a recently concluded investigation on the literacy practices of a group of students of a Teacher Training College located in the west of the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires. In order to understand how these students respond to the reading requirements of academic bibliography that are posed to them in the teacher training program, we combine a sociocultural approach to literacy adopted from the New Literacy Studies with some concepts of systemic functional linguistics. Based on the analysis of a corpus made up mainly of written works produced by the students in four undergraduate subjects, we identified three recurrent literary practices: amalgamations between authors, prescriptive interpretations of academic bibliography, and narrativizations. We offer a description of them and maintain that each one could be understood as the result of a difficulty in adequately grasping one of the three dimensions that, according to systemic functional linguistics, constitute the semiotic context in which students are asked to construe academic texts and present the contents of the courses.Fil: Improvola, Maximiliano Javier. Exploring the tritrophic interactions between Araujia hortorum, Puccinia araujiae, and a mycoparasitic Cladosporium: implications for the biological control of moth plant
Tritrophic interactions involving host plants, fungal pathogens and mycoparasites play an important role in the dynamics of natural ecosystems. In this work, we investigate the impact of the rust fungus Puccinia araujiae on the growth of Araujia hortorum plants in the presence/absence of a mycoparasitic Cladosporium species identified here as Cladosporium sphaerospermum, supported by both morphological and molecular studies. The capacity of the latter to grow and reproduce at the expense of teliospores of the rust was confirmed through microscopic observations. P. araujiae is added to the list of hosts of C. sphaerospermum. An experiment was carried out to assess the impact of rust infection on host plant biomass and whether C. sphaerospermum affected the outcome of the interaction. Plants were subjected to three treatments: inoculation with the rust alone, inoculation with both the rust and the mycoparasite, and uninoculated controls. Rust-infected plants (both with and without the mycoparasite) exhibited 50–60 % reductions in biomass, primarily in root tissues, with premature senescence and leaf abscission contributing to overall decline. However, rust-infected plants in the absence of the mycoparasite produced 10 % less biomass than those in the treatment where it was present, showing that C. sphaerospermum is capable of exerting a detrimental effect on the rust which in turn reflects on a better performance of the plant host. Glomalin-related soil protein produced by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi: its role in Pb stabilization at heavily contaminated sites
Glomalin-related soil protein (GRSP), produced by arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), plays a key role in stabilizing potentially toxic elements. This study evaluated the impact of Pb contamination on GRSP content in rhizosphere soil and its contribution to Pb binding at heavily contaminated sites. AMF colonization, spore density, and AMF species richness and diversity were also assessed. Additionally, methodological tests were conducted to evaluate the suitability of protocols for quantifying the amount of Pb bound to GRSP. Soil and root samples were collected from three dominant plant species at 20 locations near an abandoned Pb smelter, along with three uncontaminated locations. A Pb concentration gradient (149.28-77,588.77 mg kg 1 GRSP, classified into easily extractable (EE-GRSP: 0.46–1.75 mg g 1) was identified.) and total (T-GRSP: 1.22–3.89 mg g 1), was detected at all sites. GRSP content was not directly affected by Pb contamination, but showed a positive asso ciation with AMF richness and diversity. The abundance of the morphospecies Acaulospora rehmii, A. scrobiculata, Entrophospora infrequens, Funneliformis geosporus, and Racocetra fulgida correlated positively with T-GRSP. Reliable quantification of Pb bound to GRSP required protein precipitation followed by dialysis. Pb bound to T-GRSP (2.03–548.54 mg g 1) increased with soil Pb, while the percentage of soil Pb retained by GRSP decreased (23.13–1.04 %). Libertários e progressistas: uma abordagem da relação entre políticos e influenciadores na Argentina
En las últimas décadas, el ciberespacio y las redes sociales se han posicionado como espacioscapaces de producir y reproducir identificaciones, grupos de pertenencia, formas de “ser” y de “estar”. Y es en el marco de estas cuestiones que planteamos nuestro trabajo.Nos preguntamos por la relación entre los influencers y la política argentina con el objetivo de comparar dos casos pensando en la construcción de su público en torno a su figura/imagen, contenido y sus prácticas específicas. Elegimos dos casos que, en la coyuntura local actual, se presentan, siguiendo su discurso, desde un antagonismo político: @lilialemoine, diputada oficialista (libertaria), y @muypute, comunicador que se identifica con una fracción de la oposición al gobierno actual. A través de su trabajo en redes han construido un contenido para un público determinado: Lilia Lemoine en el universo del cosplay con tinte liberal y Muy Pute en el de la comunidad LGBTIQ+ orientado a ideas progresistas.Atendiendo a la contraposición política discursiva, realizamos un recorte temporal para analizar laspublicaciones de Instagram y sus repercusiones en el mes de marzo de 2024, haciendo foco en el día 24 de dicho mes, al ser una fecha en la que se ponen en juego dos valores cuestionados por la fuerza gobernante contemporánea: los Derechos Humanos.In recent decades, cyberspace and social networks have positioned themselves as spaces capable of producing and reproducing identifications, groups of belonging, ways of “being” and “being.” And it is within the framework of these questions that we raise our work. We wonder about the relationship between influencers and Argentine politics with the aim of comparing two cases, thinking about the construction of their audience around their figure/image, content and their specific practices. We choose two cases that, in the current situation, are presented, following their speech, from a political antagonism: @lilialemoine, pro-government deputy (libertarian), and @muypute, a communicator who identifies with a fraction of the opposition to the current government. Through their work on networks they have been building content for a specific audience: Lilia Lemoine in the universe of cosplay with a liberal tinge and Muy Pute in that of the LGBTIQ+ community oriented towards Peronism. Taking into account the discursive political opposition, we make a temporal cut to analyze Instagram posts and their repercussions in March 2024, focusing on the 24th of that month, being a date on which two values questioned by the contemporary ruling force come into play: Human Rights.Nas últimas décadas, o ciberespaço e as redes sociais posicionaram-se como espaços capazes de produzir e reproduzir identificações, grupos de pertencimento, modos de “ser” e “estar”.
