Improvement of a face image detection method by genetic algorithm
This paper describes a face image detection method which is executed by image processing
immediately. Face image detection is one of the most mature studies in computer vision and has been gradually advanced practical use. But it has been still left room for studies on detection accuracy and processing speed. In our study, we applied an improved genetic algorithm into template pattern matching which is one of pattern recognitions, and we detected a face area in static images rapidly.
In comparison with the template face image and a subject image, this algorithm increase comparison
pixels as the generation in genetic algorithm increase. Furthermore, we adopt YCrCb color system for our face detection system in order to detect face images with relatively accuracy. As a result, we could mplement our face detection algorithm in motion movies. Finally, this paper reports the detection rate and the detection time for our face detection system

Cymbals are thin domed plates used as percussion instruments. When cymbals are struck, they vibrate and radiate sound. Cymbals are made through spin forming, hammering, and lathing. The spin forming creates the basic shape of the cymbal, which determines its basic vibration characteristics. The hammering and lathing produce specific sound adjustments by changing the cymbal's vibration characteristics. In this study, we study how hammering cymbals affects their vibration characteristics. The hammering produces plastic deformation (small, shallow dents) on the cymbal's surface, generating residual stresses throughout it. These residual stresses change the vibration characteristics. We perform finite element analysis of a cymbal to obtain its stress distribution and the resulting change in vibration characteristics. To reproduce the stress distribution, we use thermal stress analysis, and then with this stress distribution we perform vibration analysis. These results show that each of the cymbal's modes has a different sensitivity to the thermal load (i.e., hammering). This difference causes changes in the frequency response and the deflection shape that significantly improves the sound radiation efficiency. In addition, we explain the changes in natural frequencies by the stress and modal strain energy distributions

Regarding the Relation between the Western Margin of the Fukui Plain and the Sabae Fault
The Fukui Earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.1, occurred on June 28, 1948. This earthquake occurred at the eastern margin of the Fukui Plain. The major active fault, named Fukui Heiya Touen Dansoutai, is present in this area. However, a clear indication of an active fault does not exist at the western margin of the Fukui Plain. We investigated the possibility of an active fault. As a result, we concluded that the Sabae Fault may be connected to the western margin of the Fukui Plain

本研究の目的は,Reasons modelに基づき,「母乳育児をしたい,もしくはしたくない」という『母乳育児の意思』に及ぼす影響の枠組みを『母乳育児の意思の構造』と定義し,その構造と関連要因を明らかにすることである。産後1ヶ月の母親214名(初産婦・経産婦107名ずつ)に質問紙調査し,パス解析を行った結果,初産婦・経産婦ともに,母乳育児の一般的な利点や,授乳によるトラブルや制限では『母乳育児の意思』は左右されず,母乳育児に対する感情に関連する理由が『母乳育児の意思』を決定づける最も重要な要因になっていた。また,初産婦と経産婦での相違をみると,初産婦は母乳育児に対する『負担感』が強いことにより,母乳育児を継続すると

Structuring Control Systems for Normalization of Optical Intensity with AVR Microcomputer : To Reduce the Spurious Signal on Photoreflectance
We describe microcomputer-based implementation of the PI-control system for normalization of the dc reflectance part from the photoreflectance data. Our technique uses a stepping-motor-driven variable neutral-density filter which keeps the dc component of the detecting signal constant by varying the light flux impinging into the specimen under test. This enabled extremely facile a-posteriori subtraction of the spurious component of the photoreflectance, which has been often problematic for the precise measurements.
