Experimental Study on Effect of Quantity of Cotters on Precast Reinforced Concrete Core Walls
Precast core walls are considered effective for construction because they can be built more quickly than cast-in-place core walls. In this study, lateral loading tests were conducted on wall columns simulating the corner and the area near the corner of an L-shaped core wall with horizontal tied rebars. The specimen consisted of four square-section precast columns. The vertical joints between the precast columns were grouted with high-strength mortar. Each precast column had cotters at the vertical joint,and horizontal tied rebars were concentrated at the second and third floor levels, and the mid height level of the first story. Based on the results of lateral loading tests, the effect of quantity of cotters was clarified
Environmental Education Based on Cooperation between University and Community - Activities Involving Rainwater Harvesting and Green Wall Cultivation -
In recent years, climate change has been due to global warming, and it has been predicted that there are various influences from all Representative Concentration Pathways’ (RCP) scenarios. Global warming has been caused by human activity worldwide, and clearly by our daily lives. To resolve this problem, it is therefore necessary to raise personal environmental awareness, in which environmental education for the general public plays an important role. In this study, we introduce an environmental education trial for local residents using a rainwater harvesting tank and green wall previously provided to elementary and junior high schools. We also describe the role of the university in environmental education for resolving global environmental problems
Basic Study on BWR Plant Behavior under the Condition of Severe Accident (2)
In this paper, we report on the results using the BWR plant simulator about the plant behavior under the condition of the two types of severe accidents that LOCA occurs but ECCS fails the water irrigation into the reactor core and SBO occurs and at the same time the reclosed failure of SRV occurs. The simulation experiments were carried out for the cases that LOCA has occurred in the main feed-water piping. As for the results about the relationship between the LOCA area and the time from LOCA occurs until the fuel temperature rise start, the effect that RCIC operated was extremely big for small and middle LOCA area. In the case of main feed-water system LOCA, the core water level suddenly decreased for large LOCA of 2000cm2 area, however, if the irrigation into the reactor core was carried out 30min after LOCA occurrence, the core had little damage. In addition, the H2 concentration in the containment vessel did not exceed both limits of H2 explosion nor detonation. The pressure of the containment vessel was around 3kg/cm2 of design value, so the soundness of the containment vessel was confirmed. On the other hand, for the accident of SBO with reclosed failure of SRV, it has been shown that the accidents continue to progress rapidly as compared with the case of normally operating of SRV. Because SRV has the function that keep the inside pressure of reactor core by repeating opened and closed in response of the inside pressure and prevent the decrease of water level inside reactor core. However, if the irrigation into the reactor core was carried out 30min after SBO occurrence, the core had little damage and also the H2 concentration in the containment vessel did not exceed limits of H2 explosion. Further, as for the accident of reclosed failure of SRV, it has been shown that there are very good correspondence with the simulation results of main steam piping LOCA of area 180cm2 corresponding to the inlet cross-sectional area SRV installed on the piping. Therefore, the accident of reclosed failure has been also shown that can be regarded as small LOCA accidents of main steam piping
The Relationship between the Meaning of NR Predicates and the Position of Not
It is well known that in English the entence like I {think/believe} he will come may be negated either as I don't {think/believe} he will come (main clause negation, henceforth MCN) or as I {think/believe} he won't come (subordinate clause negation, henceforth SCN) with no difference of cognitive meaning. Many linguists argue that MCN is strongly preferred to SCN. The computer-aided analysis of the CNN Transcripts Corpus, however, reveals that that is not the case when such verbs as suppose and suspect are used as the main clause predicate. It is claimed that the difference in the frequency of appearance mentioned above originates from the differences in the degrees of confi dence conveyed by think, believe, suppose, and suspect , all of which are NR predicates. It is also claimed that the functions of I {think/believe} [ ¬ p] are signifi cantly different from those of I {suppose/suspect} [ ¬p]; the former conveys the speaker's strong inclination toward [ ¬p] while the latter conveys the speaker's weak nclination toward [ ¬p], which is also conveyed by I guess [ ¬p]
Performance Evaluation in Right and Left Alternation Turning of Small Race Cars
The basic motions of a car are "run", "turn", and "stop". Among these performances, turning performance affects the running speed and the competition results of the race car. In previous research, driving tests were conducted by a circumference road turning using the small race car to confirm the influence on the turning performance caused by the change in the tire inflation pressure and the damping force of its shock absorber mounted on the suspension. And appropriate tire inflation pressure for running the race cars with a little load movement was clarified. However, the turning speed influenced by the change in the damping force of the shock absorber was little. In this research, the turning performance by a slalom run of the small race car with the load movement for right and left alternation was evaluated, and the influence of the damping force was confirmed
地域地質素材を活用した初等教育教材の開発 : 福井県の石ころ観察
学習者が身近な地質に興味を持つ契機となる教材開発を目指し,著者らは福井県内の河原・礫浜に分布する多様な岩質の礫を題材とした「石ころ鑑定シート」を作成した.本教材の内容は,各礫種の鮮明な写真,岩石分類名および特徴の解説である.この教材を用いた観察実習を考案し,児童館において計60名の小学生を対象とした石ころ鑑定体験実習を実施した.参加者への事後アンケート調査結果は,本教材を用いた実習を通じ,児童らが県内の石や土地のなりたちにっいて興味を持っようになったことを示した
