    Get PDF
Only a small number of U.S. businesses have adopted the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The purpose of this multiple case study was to explore strategies that executive business leaders use to implement the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. The study population consisted of six business executives and two organizations in the U.S. state of Texas, all with experience in implementing the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. The theory of high performance work systems provided the conceptual framework for the study. Data were gathered from interviews and record reviews that were conducted within the organizations. Inductive analysis was used to identify words, phrases, ideas, and actions that were consistent among participants and organizations as well as patterns and themes. Triangulation of sources between the interview and record review data was used for consistency. Three main themes emerged from data analysis: organizations embedded the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence into native work models; they also used robust strategy deployment systems with accountability for action plans to spread the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence; and, rather than specifically create goals to align with the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, they identified actions to reach organizational strategic goals that were molded using the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence as a business model

    Get PDF
In higher education, research on quality assurance is one of the prominent fields at present. The National Qualifications Framework (NQF) is an important element in accreditation and quality assurance system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is designed by National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA) to ensure that the quality of higher education is equivalent to high international standards. In Saudi Arabia, quality assurance is still a relatively new concept and the Saudi universities seem not to effectively implement it because of certain obstacles. Curriculum development using NQF is one of the core and challenging contexts in quality assurance. This paper presents an application of Qualification Framework in curriculum development for system analysis and design course at Jazan University in Saudi Arabia. The objective of the research shall be to present a model course after applying NQF standards. The research shall begin with identification of the problems, finding out the reasons and to present a model curriculum. The research shall include a literature review. The method of research shall be descriptive, empirical and qualitative approach. Document analysis – mainly NCAAA guides and brainstorming interactions with the educators shall be used as a research instrument. The paper is expected to help educators in better planning of their course learning outcomes and most importantly helps in mapping the assessment methods and questions. This will also help to assess and ensure that the graduates’ knowledge level and skills acquired are as defined in the learning outcomes in the curriculum.  The educators can use this paper as a model to apply NQF for the curriculum development of other courses at higher education level

The paper examines the determinants of Total Factor Productivity (TFP) of Libyan banks by employing Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) based Malmquist Productivity Index (MPI) and Ordinary Least Square (OLS) estimation regression model for the period 2004 – 2010. For estimate TFP and determinants in this study we used DEAP 2.1 software and we used Evies 7 software for estimating determinants. The results showed that our variables which used in this study are not significant related to TFP

The descriptive analysis, correlation techniques and parametric statistics like t-test, F-test and multiple regression analysis carried out to arrive at the conclusions. To measure the reliability of the scale used for this study, and internal consistencies of the survey questionnaire, the reliability static Cronbach’s alpha (C-alpha) and Spearman-Brown split-half reliability statistics were estimated. The overall C-alpha is 0.89 whereas the Spearman-Brown split half statistic is 0.83. The C-alpha values ranged from 0.62 to 0.76 for Men and 0.60 to 0.74 for Women, for all the 6 independent and one dependent factor. The results of the study indicate that the medium level occupational stress exists at the workplace in general, effecting the performance moderately. Get PDF
This paper examines the varying impact of the Import and Export on the impulsiveness nature of the Exchange Rate in four EU (European Union) economies such as Austria, Germany, France and Italy for a period of 56 years from 1960 – 2015. In achieving an accurate result for testing this competing null hypothesis, variables are pooled by regression and the computation of random effects model is found to be rational upon which, the ultimate conclusion is drawn. The statistical results obtained from random effects model show that export is not a significant variable to impact the exchange rate while the import is found to be significant to impact the impulsiveness of the exchange rate across the economies over the concerned period of time. The validity and non-existence of cross sectional independence is further documented by statistical results obtained from the Hausman test
