Parteiras imigrantes: atuação, conflitos e redes de apoio no campo profissional (Porto Alegre, final do século XIX)
Full text linkThis article starts from the analysis of a criminal case from the last decade of the 19th century, which has as its defendant a European immigrant who performed the job of a midwife in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre. Conflicts between immigrants who arrived in Brazil with professional qualification was one of the aspects that marked the trajectory of those women who needed to guarantee social insertion, win customers and prestige in society. The midwives\u27 work was broad, going beyond that linked only to childbirth assistance, since they were knowledgeable about the diverse knowledge and practices that came from popular medicine and that taught in universities. One of the main objectives of the work is to indicate the possibilities of using judicial documents to advance studies related to the fields of action of immigrant women in urban realities. Thus, it starts from the analysis of specific situations to apprehend the logics that guided the behaviors, perceptions, expectations, and controls, with the nominative data being taken as conducting threads to map individual and collective paths in other documentary sources. By crossing the information extracted from different documents, it is possible to apprehend in a complex way the activities, articulations, choices, successful or failed, and performances that mark the experiences and the work of immigrant midwives in Brazil.O presente artigo parte da análise de um processo-crime da última década do século XIX, que tem como ré uma imigrante europeia que desempenhava o ofício de parteira na capital do Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre. Conflitos entre imigrantes que chegavam ao Brasil com qualificação profissional era um dos aspectos que marcava a trajetória daquelas mulheres que precisavam garantir uma inserção social, conquistar clientes e prestígio na sociedade. O trabalho das parteiras era amplo, indo além daquele ligado apenas a assistência ao parto, uma vez que eram conhecedoras de saberes e práticas diversas que vinham da medicina popular e da ensinada nas universidades. Um dos objetivos principais do trabalho é indicar para as possibilidades da utilização dos documentos judiciais no avanço dos estudos ligados aos campos de atuação das mulheres imigrantes em realidades urbanas. Desse modo, parte-se da análise de situações específicas para apreender as lógicas que orientavam os comportamentos, as percepções, expectativas e controles, sendo os dados nominativas tomados como fios condutores para mapear percursos individuais e coletivos em outras fontes documentais. Através do cruzamento das informações extraídas de documentos diversos, é possível apreender de maneira complexa as atividades, articulações, escolhas, bem sucedidas ou fracassadas, e desempenhos que marcam as experiências e o trabalho das parteiras imigrantes no Brasil

Full text linkIn this article we analyze the role played by Hotel-Schools located in Mar del Plata city in the attempts to professionalize work in the hotel sector between 1940 and 1990. Although we consider that until the last decade of the 20th century the hospitality industry would not be able to spread as a professional task, we understand that since the 1940s there were attempts that articulated interests of the business and state sectors that, although they were not always successful or had the expected scope, constituted milestones within the gradual process of professionalization of the activity. This article aims to restore the role of vocational training institutions in this process, understanding that the professionalization process was fraught with tensions and ambivalences. If, on the one hand, it was based on gender stereotypes and specific conceptions of jobs and knowledge associated with them, on the other hand, enabled certain spaces and practices that allowed them to challenge.
En este artículo analizamos el papel que ocuparon las Escuelas-Hotel emplazadas en la ciudad de Mar del Plata en los intentos de profesionalización del trabajo en el sector hotelero entre 1940 y 1990. Si bien consideramos que hasta la última década del siglo XX la hotelería no lograría extenderse como una labor profesional, entendemos que desde la década del 40 del siglo pasado hubo intentos que articularon intereses del sector empresarial y estatal que, si bien no siempre fueron exitosos ni tuvieron el alcance esperado, constituyeron mojones dentro del paulatino proceso de profesionalización de la actividad. Este artículo pretende restituir el papel de las instituciones de formación profesional en dicho proceso de profesionalización, entendiendo que este estuvo cargado de tensiones y ambivalencias. Si, por un lado, se asentó sobre estereotipos de género y concepciones determinadas de los oficios y los saberes asociados a ellos, por otro lado, habilitó ciertos espacios y prácticas que permitieron desafiarlos
La configuración de una comunidad española americana en la obra de Manuel Ugarte.: Conexiones con la Generación del 98 española
Full text linkManuel Ugarte converges with the Spanish authors of the Generation of \u2798 in the configuration of a common transnational space. The scope of the notion of a cracked block becomes more complex through possible connections with the set of Spanish intellectuals of the so-called Generation of ‘98. Lectures and books by the Argentine author are selected as sources and given the heterogeneity of Spanish Hispanic-American authors, part of the available works and articles by Miguel de Unamuno, Rafael Altamira and Ramiro de Maeztu are selected for the relevance of their contributions to the Americanist dimension of Hispanic-Americanism. The connection between the Argentinean and Spanish intellectuals, in terms of the configuration of a cultural space common to Spain and America, can be placed within the framework of the epoch of the centenary of the revolutions and of the situation of North American advance over Latin America.Manuel Ugarte converge con los autores españoles de la Generación del 98 en la configuración de un espacio trasnacional común. El alcance de la noción de “bloque agrietado” se complejiza en este trabajo a través de posibles conexiones con el conjunto de intelectuales españoles de la llamada Generación del 98. Se seleccionan como fuentes conferencias y libros del autor argentino, y dada la heterogeneidad de los autores hispanoamericanistas españoles, se seleccionan parte de obras y artículos disponibles de Miguel de Unamuno, Rafael Altamira y Ramiro de Maeztu, por la relevancia de sus aportes en la dimensión americanista del hispanoamericanismo. La conexión entre el argentino y los intelectuales españoles, en cuanto a la configuración de un espacio cultural común a España y América, puede situarse en el marco de la época del cumplimiento del centenario de las revoluciones y de la coyuntura de avance norteamericano sobre América latina
Las experiencias organizativas por la repatriación de los restos de Rosas y los orígenes de la estrella federal como símbolo de identificación colectiva (1934-1954)
Full text linkThe present work analyzes the formation of a rosista political tradition in Argentina during the first half of the XX century. To this end, we will analyze the organizational experiences that demanded the repatriation of the remains of Juan Manuel de Rosas to the national State during said cycle. Simultaneously, we will pay special attention to the fact that it was within the framework of these experiences that the estrella federal, taking into account its morphology, broke out as an eight-pointed red star; at the same time that it was used, for the first time, as a symbol of collective identification. Finally, we intend that this approach allows us to carry out a parallel reading, or else complementary, to those that have put a strictly historiographic dimension of the rosista past at the center of their analysis.El presente trabajo analiza la formación de una tradición política rosista en la Argentina durante la primera mitad del siglo XX. Para tal fin, analizaremos las experiencias organizativas que reclamaron la repatriación de los restos de Juan Manuel de Rosas al Estado nacional durante dicho ciclo. Simultáneamente, prestaremos especial atención al hecho de haber sido en el marco de estas experiencias que la estrella federal, atendiendo a su morfología, irrumpió como una estrella roja de ocho puntas; al mismo tiempo que fue utilizada, por primera vez, como símbolo de identificación colectiva. Por último, pretendemos que este abordaje nos permita realizar una lectura paralela, o bien complementaria, a aquellas que han puesto en el centro de su análisis una dimensión estrictamente historiográfica del pasado rosista
