Conspecto das principais interpretações da Metafísica de Aristóteles – dos primórdios a Paul Natorp e Eduard Zeller
No full textThe Metaphysics contains a number of formulas that supposedly refer to the science which occupies the top of the hierarchy of philosophical disciplines. But there is great disagreement among scholars over the possibility of effectively reconciling these different formulas. Thus, one of the most important issues which the reader of the Metaphysics has to deal with is to determine whether the work is concerned with a single preeminent science or if it contains different projects of preeminent science. In this paper we discuss the views of some of the most important interpreters, paying particular attention to two authors from the German Aristotelian tradition: Eduard Zeller and, specially, Paul Natorp.A Metafísica contém diversas formulações que supostamente fazem referência àquela ciência que ocuparia o topo da hierarquia das disciplinas filosóficas. Há, porém, grande divergência entre os estudiosos acerca da possibilidade de se compatibilizarem efetivamente essas diferentes fórmulas. Sendo assim, uma das questões mais relevantes que se impõe ao leitor da Metafísica é determinar se a obra se ocupa de uma única ciência preeminente ou se, ao contrário, ela contém diferentes projetos de ciência preeminente. Neste trabalho, analisamos criticamente as posições de alguns dos mais relevantes intérpretes, dedicando atenção especial a dois autores da tradição aristotélica alemã: Eduard Zeller e, principalmente, Paul Natorp

O problema do humano em Emmanuel Lévinas
No full textThis text aims to investigate the relationship between two great civilizational logics: the logic of the “worry on being” or logic of the worry with himself , and the logic of the care of the other . We follow, for one side, the critical analysis that Lévinas does about the Occident and its Humanism; for another side, we follow the logic of the Holy Scripture and the indication of another civilizational process, other Humanity. We intend to show, as expected results, these two logics tensioned constitute the “razor’s edge” of Lévinas proposal; putting them closer having ahead the notion of Subjectivity is, in Lévinas, to walk over the razor’s edge. The methodology used is a bibliographic research conducted under the inspiration of Critical Hermeneutics of Paul Ricoeur.Este ensaio investiga a relação entre duas grandes lógicas civilizatórias, a lógica da “preocupação em ser”, ou lógica da preocupação consigo mesmo, e a lógica do cuidado do outro. Acompanhamos, por um lado, a análise crítica que Lévinas faz do Ocidente e de seus Humanismos; por outro, acompanhamos a lógica da Escritura Bíblica e a indicação de outro processo civilizatório, de outra Humanidade. Pretendemos mostrar, como resultado, que essas duas lógicas, em tensão, constituem o “fio da navalha” da proposta de Lévinas; aproximar essas lógicas, a partir da noção de Subjetividade, é, em Lévinas, andar sobre o fio da navalha. A metodologia que utilizamos é a pesquisa bibliográfica aplicada a obras centrais de Lévinas e conduzida sob inspiração da Hermenêutica Crítica de Paul Ricoeur

McTaggart e o problema das séries infinitas
Get PDFThe objective of this paper is to show that, if infinity is conceived as unfinishable, McTaggart's paradox could not be applied to an infinite series. Furthermore, I also intend to show that there are textual evidences for the attribution of this concept of infinity to the author. The main point I want to address is that (if the series is infinite and we conceive infinity as unfinishable) we would never reach the perspective in which all the terms of the series would have simultaneously the three incompatible characteristics (past, present and future). Presentness would run through the events of the series successively (diachronically), without ever reaching the end of the series. Thus, we would never reach the first step of the paradox, of the simultaneous incompatibility of the three characteristics (avoiding also the second step of the paradox, which would take us from circularity to an infiniteregress). For McTaggart, the characteristics (present, past and future) are only incompatible when they are simultaneous, but there is no contradiction in the fact that each term of the temporal series has them successively.O objetivo deste artigo é mostrar que há ao menos uma concepção de infinito que tornaria problemática a aplicação da argumentação presente no paradoxo de McTaggart às séries infinitas. Pretendo também mostrar que há evidências textuais para a atribuição de tal concepção ao autor. A tese central que pretendo sustentar é que, se a série for infinita, e o infinito for concebido como interminável, nunca alcançaríamos a perspectiva na qual todos os termos da série teriam simultaneamente as três características incompatíveis (passado, presente e futuro). A presentidade percorreria cada um dos eventos da série de maneira sucessiva (diacrônica), sem nunca alcançar o término da série (que, por princípio, seria interminável). Assim, nunca chegaríamos ao primeiro passo do paradoxo, da incompatibilidade simultânea das três características (evitando também o segundo passo do paradoxo, que nos levaria da circularidade ao regresso ao infinito). Para McTaggart, as características (passado, presente e futuro) são apenas incompatíveis quando são simultâneas, mas não há contradição no fato de que cada termo da série temporal as tem sucessivamente
A Criticism of Kripke’s Semantic for Intuitionistic Logic
Get PDFThis note aims to examine critically Kripke’s semantics for propositional intuitionistic logic. Kripke’s semantic is extensionally correct with respect to propositional intuitionistic logic, that is, the calculus is sound and complete with respect to the semantics. The fragment of propositional intuitionist logic containing disjunction and implication is also sound and complete with respect to the respective semantical clauses. However, we´ll argue, Kripke semantics is intensionallymisleading, since Kripke’ssemantical implication clause is intensionallymisleading. And the problem can be exemplified when we consider the fragment with disjunction and implication.Uma crítica à semântica de Kripke para a lógica intuicionista
Nesta breve nota, pretendemos examinar criticamente a semântica de Kripke para a lógica proposicional intuicionista. A semântica de Kripke é extensionalmente correta com relação à lógica proposicional intuicionista, isto é, o cálculo é correto e completo com respeito à semântica. O fragmento da lógica proposicional intuicionista contendo a disjunção e a implicação também é correto e completo com respeito às respectivas cláusulas semânticas. Entretanto, como procuraremos argumentar, a semântica de Kripke é intensionalmente enganadora, dado que a cláusula semântica de Kripke para a implicação é intensionalmente enganadora. Penser la notion de fonction en logique au XXe siècle (1900-1950)
Get PDFDo the understanding of a notion and the ability to define it necessarily suppose to grasp the nature of the object that this notion designates? Some concepts fail to be defined for themselves, and some objects also fail to be understood without a context. If we consider a notion denoting an object usually understood for what it does more than for what it is, these difficulties both converge. Such a notion will occupy us in this article: the notion of function in logic in the 20th century. By setting a link between the works of Frege, Schönfinkel and Church, I indentify some ways that show a possible manner to define the notion of function.

Será que a compreensão de uma noção e a capacidade de defini-la deve necessariamente supor a compreensão da natureza do objeto que essa noção designa? Alguns conceitos não se deixam definir por si próprios e alguns objetos também não conseguem ser entendidos sem um contexto. Se consideramos uma noção que denote um objeto, geralmente entendida mais pelo que faz, do que pelo que ela é, essas dificuldades convergem. Tal noção nos ocupará neste artigo: a noção de função na lógica no século XX. On Graphical Calculi for Modal Logics
Get PDFWe present a graphical approach to classical and intuitionistic modal logics, which provides uniform formalisms for expressing, analysing and comparing their semantics. This approach uses the flexibility of graphical calculi to express directly and intuitively the semantics for modal logics. Apresentamos uma abordagem gráfica para as lógicas modais clássica e intuicionista, capaz de fornecer formalismos uniformes para expressar, analisar e comparar suas respectivas semânticas. Tal abordagem utiliza a flexibilidade dos cálculos gráficos para expressar, direta e intuitivamente, a semântica das lógicas modais.
