The Băile Figa geosite (Bistriţa-Năsăud County).Geomorpho-cultural assessment and tourism valorization
Baile Figa is an important tourist location in Bistrita-Nasaud County, known for its salty waters. In 2005, archaeological works in this area have brought to light numerous ancient remains from the Bronze and Iron Age relating to the exploitation and use of salt. In 2009 the City Hall of Beclean opened in Baile Figa an entertainment complex that attracts important tourist flows, given the proximity of the National Road 17 (E 58) and cities Dej, Beclean and Bistrita. In this context, this paper has proposed a geomorpho-cultural assessment of the Baile Figa geosite, to establish its attractive potential and to develop some strategies for planning, valorization and management thereof
Considerations on the hydro-geological characteristics of the surface aquifers from the Jijia-Prut confluence area
Denudational Processes and Geomorphic Characteristics of the Kaliani River Basin (Assam, India)
Denudation relates to the removal of loosened material from a rock surface . Denudation is initiated by climatic factors and leads to specific geomorphic features in particular climatic regions. Thus the landform features formed in arid regions will differ from those in an humid region on a macro scale. However, some features may be common or almost similar to both regions on a micro scale e.g., mesa like features are common in some fluvially eroded landscapes as well as long as there are alternate bands of softer and harder rocks. Both endogenetic as well as exogenetic processes have played a crucial role in the character of landforms in the study area. The Kaliani River Basin (Diphu subdivision), Karbi Anglong district in Assam has been selected for identifying and studying the regions which are affected by denudation and the simultaneous geomorphic features formed. The basin is the result of past tectonic activity which has resulted in folding and faulting . Volcanic activity in the region has been known to occur in post Cretaceous times. The denudation processes in operation have imparted a unique geomorphic characteristic to the region giving it uneven and inaccessible terrain in some parts. The study area forms a part of the Karbi Anglong plateau comprising of a Precambrian platform . This feature has been significantly dissected and graded. An attempt has been made to study the geomorphic characteristics as a result of the denudational processes operating within the study area.
In the group of emerging countries, Brazil is a figure apart: having no inclination to "big brother" to smaller neighbors and not part of the communist blockade traditionally opposed to the capitalist, Brazil would came out through successive presidential terms (2003-2010) Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who led the country on a new path. This international outlook is confirmed by the fact that Brazil has been entrusted the organization of two major sporting events: the World Cup in 2014 and the Summer Olympic Games in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. The challenge is how to manage urban insecurity generated by the favelas and internal disparities
Plant distribution by water gradient in Carpathian and Subcarpathian sectors of Râmnicu Sărat hydrographic basin
The railroad represents the first great attempt to free people from the tyranny of the places that used to tie them to their land and to confine them to the small reality of their place of birth. The railroad gave rise to one of the first greatest geographic networks, developing a multiplicity of possible connections and thus creating an infinite number of relations. Highways take such development a step further. Networks give rise to a geometry which favours points and lines while disregarding surfaces: our way of inhabiting is therefore conditioned by the mobility of people, of things and capital. It might now be time to rethink the meaning of our roots based on the interactions that the modern industrial society bequeathed to us
