    Get PDF
In the context of the accelerated globalization process, cross-language communication is becoming increasingly frequent, involving a wider variety of languages and cultural differences. This has driven a rapid growth in the demand for multilingual translation. This trend has led to the widespread application and in-depth research of large language models based on artificial intelligence in the field of translation. However, the diversity and complexity of languages present numerous challenges for these language models during their development, especially when it comes to accurately addressing cultural differences between source and target languages in translation practice. Specifically, AI translation tools often struggle to fully convey the cultural connotations and values of the source language in English translations, and may even fail to adequately address or downplay cultural differences. This can result in mistranslations or hollow translations at the cultural level

    Get PDF
With the rapid development of socio-economic conditions and the acceleration of globalization, the art education community is continually exploring methods to integrate traditional techniques with modern design education, thereby fostering innovation. This study selects representative traditional Chinese craft techniques, such as paper-cutting, blue calico printing, and ceramic painting, and examines how these skills are applied and their innovative significance in modern design teaching. The research employed in-depth interviews and case study methods, involving teachers and students from 20 renowned art institutions, and conducting detailed case studies on 5 exemplary student design works. By comparing traditional teaching models with modern design teaching models that incorporate traditional skills, this study explores the new applications and possibilities of traditional crafts in modern design education. The results indicate that the introduction of traditional crafts not only enhances the cultural significance and aesthetic value of design works but also inspires students' innovation and practical abilities. In teaching practices, the combination of traditional crafts and modern design technologies, through creative transformation and adaptation, can effectively enrich the content of art education and provide students with new means of expression and ways of thinking. This study calls for art educators to focus on the protection and inheritance of traditional craft skills and to organically combine their wisdom with modern design education to achieve cultural innovation and the modernization of education

    Get PDF
The importance and necessity to keep an archive of important records at universities is highly needed to maintain reasonable efficiency, transparency, and accuracy. This study used the life cycle and records continuum models to examine the records and archives management methods utilized at a selected Lebanese private university. The study capitalized on and explored records and archives management at the university and assessed practices considering recommendations from “The World Bank Group Records Management Guide”. The main objective was to assess current practices and procedures concerning the abovementioned guide. This work recommended a plan based on the evaluation results to control documents and archives at the university. A mixed-method research approach was used and primary data were collected using a structured questionnaire, a focus group, semi-structured interviews, and personal observations. Purposive sampling was used where 38 respondents were chosen to answer the questionnaire including staff who interacted with records daily; five members of the Information Technology (IT) team were involved in the focus group, and 11 interviewees (chosen from the 38 questionnaire respondents) were interviewed. Key findings support that the university lacked sufficient records management practices, and documents were managed informally. There was also a paucity of skilled records management professionals, which created problems with the development, circulation, utilization, preservation, and destruction of records, putting the university at risk of losing valuable information. The study recommended a procedural plan for records management system integration, reviewing the practices, and implementing new policies and procedures based on the universal and legal requirements to ensure that important records are kept and archived consistently

Objective: This article explores the influence of ultimate frisbee teaching in middle school physical education classes on the health-related physical fitness of middle school students, and provides suggestions for improving the effectiveness of middle school physical education teaching, enriching physical education curriculum content, and promoting the all-round development of middle school students' physical and mental health. Methods: Ninety middle school students in grade eight of Nanning Foreign Language School were divided into an experimental class (N=45)and a control class (N=45). The experimental class carried out ultimate frisbee teaching for 12 weeks, and the control class carried out regular physical education curriculum teaching for 12 weeks. A round of tests on various indicators of students in the two classes was conducted before the experimental intervention, and another test was conducted after 12 weeks of experimental intervention to compare the changes in related indicators such as body shape, cardiopulmonary fitness, muscle fitness, and flexibility fitness of students before and after the experiment. Results: (1)After 12 weeks of intervention, the height, vital capacity, sit-up and standing long jump scores of students in the experimental class significantly increased (P 0.05), but the increase in the stretching distance of sit-and-reach of students in the experimental class before and after the experiment was greater than that of students in the control class. Conclusion: Ultimate frisbee can significantly improve the cardiopulmonary fitness and muscle fitness of middle school students and promote the height development of middle school students. Therefore, middle school students can adopt long-term regular ultimate frisbee in their future study and life to achieve the purpose of promoting growth and development and improving health-related physical fitness

Stock Repurchases and Long-Term Investor Returns: An Empirical Investigation

    Get PDF
Stock repurchases by U.S. firms have been reported by prior studies to cause positive stock price reactions around the announcement dates. However, the question of whether an investable portfolio of repurchasing firms reconstituted at the beginning of each year outperforms a broad market index in the long run has not been addressed. This study finds that investing in the Invesco Buyback Achievers ETF (PKW), which invests in the shares of repurchasing firms, outperformed S&P 500 on a risk-adjusted basis over 5-, 10- and 15-year periods. This finding is consistent with the goal of shareholder wealth maximization, which emphasizes the return of free cash flow to shareholders
