    The Construction of the Subjectivity of Chinese Culture in the Context of Generative Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities, Risks, and Responses

    The rapid development of technology is driving the continuous progress of artificial intelligence, with generative AI models like ChatGPT emerging as one of the most innovative and explosive technological forms of the 21st century. The application of this new technology in the cultural field is gradually revealing its enormous potential and value, offering new opportunities for the construction of Chinese cultural subjectivity. Its content generation helps break information monopolies, deepening and strengthening the construction of Chinese cultural subjectivity; its dissemination methods help break echo chambers, enhancing the effectiveness and warmth of cultural subjectivity construction; and its access routes are beneficial in bridging the information gap, expanding the breadth and accuracy of Chinese cultural subjectivity construction. However, the inherent characteristics of generative AI technology and its practical applications also pose various potential risks. Algorithmic bias can increase the difficulty of constructing Chinese cultural subjectivity, cultural hegemony can diminish the core influence of Chinese cultural subjectivity, and profit-driven motives can lead to an imbalance in the construction process. Therefore, it is crucial to actively explore appropriate ways to regulate these risks through optimizing algorithm design, strengthening value guidance, and improving institutional frameworks, so as to assist in the construction of modern Chinese civilization

    The Importance of Nursing Education for Bangladeshi Nursing Teachers

    Can we take the purpose of nurse education for granted, and, more importantly, should we? That is the issue at stake in this paper. The question of purpose is absent in the nursing literature; our aim here is to urge that it not be overlooked by demonstrating its importance to the future of nursing. The nursing profession in Bangladesh has undergone a remarkable development over the recent years.  But nursing teachers still faces different types of challenges. The reasons for the contradiction have become a complex interaction between socioeconomic and cultural factors, which are related to the conflicts between British curriculum, with an emphasis on basic care activities, social and gender norms, and discrimination against nurses at educational institutions. This paper aims to look at nurses’ views about nursing care and their profession, to depict how nursing education has been an empowering tool, and to analyze how nurses’ socioeconomic background, personal experiences and life stories have influenced their professional careers. Therefore, nursing education is found to empower nursing teachers in terms of knowledge, independence, and self-realization

    15 Years of Research on Second Language Development in the DST Perspective in China- A Visual Analysis Based on the Literature from 2010-2024

    This study takes the research literature on second language development in the context of dynamic systems theory (DST) included in the China Knowledge Network (CNN) during 2010-2014 as the data source, and uses the visual analysis tool of CiteSpace to systematically sort out the research lineage in this field during the past 15 years, and to explore the research hot spots, cutting-edge themes, and their evolutionary trends. The results of the study show that the research on second language development under the perspective of DST in China has gone through the process from theoretical exploration to application expansion, and the research content has gradually extended from focusing on the theory itself to the various dimensions of second language development, including individual differences, learning environments, and instructional interventions, etc., and has shown the trend of multidisciplinary integration. The results of this research have promoted the in-depth development of second language development research under the framework of DST theory

    A Study on the Correlation between the Reading Proficiency and the Digital Reading Strategy Use of English Majors in Local Normal Universities in China

    Based on Gagné's Information Processing Theory (IPT), which stresses staged processing and the transfer of learning to real-world tasks, this study takes 677 English majors as participants from a local Chinese normal university, who were administered two digital reading tests and a Survey of Digital Reading Strategies (SODRS), with a view to explore the profile of the digital reading strategies, the correlation between reading proficiency and digital strategy use as well as the differences in the application of digital reading strategies between the high proficiency learners and the low proficiency learners. The research results show that: (1) The majority of students use digital reading strategies at a moderate level, with global strategies being the least frequently used, then support strategies and problem-solving strategies. (2) Significant positive correlations are observed between digital reading proficiency and global strategy, problem-solving strategy as well as support strategy, respectively, with correlation coefficients being 0.591, 0.543 and 0.522. (3) Independent samples t-tests reveal significant differences in strategy use between high and low proficiency learners. This study not only provides insights into the further study on targeted interventions to enhance the reading proficiency of students but also contributes to promoting students’ digital literacy within underdeveloped areas in China

    Research Challenges During Low Malaria Incidence in Eswatini: Implication for Achievement of Elimination Targets

    In May 2015, governments endorsed the World Health Organisation’s Global Technical Strategy for Malaria 2016 – 2030, a new technical roadmap for countries that are working to reverse and eliminate the spread of malaria. Research is an important component of the Global strategy to evaluate the impact of interventions and monitor progress towards achievement of elimination targets. However, there are critical issues when conducting research in areas with low malaria transmission, particularly identifying and eliminating parasites in asymptomatic infections. Accurate detection of micro-parasitaemic infections and achieving adequate sample sizes to derive statistical power remain a major challenge in the design and conduct of valuable research studies. To monitor progress towards elimination, it is often necessary to quantify Plasmodium infections and artemisinin resistant parasites among the border-crossing populations, including asymptomatic persons. Population movement from high to low transmission areas import infections and facilitate spread of drug resistance. Quantification of the problem of importation of parasites is difficult and complicated by the presence of informal entry points for infections including asymptomatic ones. Surveillance in the context of malaria elimination has to shift from measuring reductions in mortality and morbidity to detecting infections with or without symptoms. The capacity to assess trends and respond without delay has to be developed so that surveillance becomes an additional intervention process. Methods to determine and monitor importation of parasites among people with micro-parasitaemic infections require DNA based techniques such as nested Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) which, despite their ability to identify very low parasitaemia, remain expensive for application in field studies. Early warning of the emerging of resistance is needed to identify new foci, predict their spread and inform prompt containment action to counter and slow down the spread of antimalarial and insecticide resistance. It is therefore critical to identify and deploy efficient methods to track signs of reduced efficacy to artemisinin-based combination drugs and insecticides used for indoor residual sprays at the earliest possible time. The efficacy of long lasting insecticide nets (LLINs) in the field is not only determined by direct mortality, but also personal protection and deterrence, for which correlations are much weaker. All these requirements create a challenge in the capacity of the country to conduct comprehensive research to provide information required to maintain a positive drive towards malaria elimination

    To Explore the Mechanism of Atorvastatin Pre-intervention on Cocl2-induced Cardiomyocytes

    Background: Atorvastatin calcium, known for its anti-inflammatory and atherosclerotic plaque-stabilizing effects, is widely used for the prevention and treatment of ischemic cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, and cerebral infarction. Pyroptosis, a recently identified form of programmed cell death mediated by Caspase-1 and gasdermin D (GSDMD), is characterized by inflammasome activation and inflammatory cytokine release. Myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MIRI) refers to exacerbated tissue damage that occurs when blood flow is restored (reperfusion) after a transient ischemic episode (insufficient blood supply). Pyroptosis has emerged as a central pathological mechanism in MIRI. In this study, we employed a rat MIRI model and an H9C2 cardiomyocyte hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) model to investigate the protective effects and underlying mechanisms of atorvastatin calcium pretreatment in both in vivo and in vitro systems.Method: In vivo and in vitro models were established using ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) rats and cobalt chloride (CoCl₂)-induced hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) in H9C2 cells. Cell viability was measured via the CCK-8 assay. The expression levels of pyroptosis-related factors were assessed in both models through Western blotting, RT-qPCR, and immunohistochemical staining.Result: Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor signaling is an important pathway for mediating cardiac inflammation during myocardial I/R. In our experiments, Atorvastatin calcium pretreatment significantly ameliorates I/R-induced myocardial injury and H/R-induced pyroptosis, manifested by improved cardiac histopathology and cell viability. Western blot and RT-qPCR results showed that after pretreatment with atorvastatin calcium, atorvastatin calcium inhibited the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and pyro related molecules, including NLRP3, cleaved caspase-1, and GSDMD.Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the NOD-like receptor signaling mediated inflammatory plays a pivotal role in myocardial I/R injury. After atorvastatin calcium pretreatment, inflammasome activation and pyroptosis are inhibited by the TLR4/Caspase-1/NLRP3 pathway, thus providing a potential strategy for the treatment of myocardial reperfusion injury

    Application of Fast Fourier Transform-based Method for the Thermal System of Buried Pipe Heat Exchanger

    The Fourier transform method for discrete sequences is introduced in this study and applied to decompose the heat flux per unit borehole depth in buried pipe heat exchangers (BPHE) into a summation of Fourier series. The linear relationship between the heat flux per unit borehole depth in BPHE and the cooling and heating load of Ground-Coupled Heat Pumps (GCHP) is delineated. It is demonstrated that, similar to the cooling and heating load of GCHP, the heat flux per unit borehole depth in BPHE exhibits a general trend with periodic variability on an annual scale (8760 hours). The Fourier transform of discrete sequences enables the representation of the heat flux per unit borehole depth in BPHE as a summation of Fourier series, comprising a Step Heat Flux (direct current components) and heat flux in trigonometric forms. Further investigation reveals that the heat flux in trigonometric form does not influence the long-term average temperature of the surrounding soil and rock, whereas the Step Heat Flux significantly affects it. Therefore, the long-term performance of BPHE is predominantly governed by the Step Heat Flux

    Nigeria faces a dual challenge: addressing its domestic energy crisis while navigating global climate change policies aimed at decarbonizing the energy sector. This paper explores the impact of Nigeria’s energy challenges and global climate policies on consumer welfare, focusing on the nexus within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). With approximately 71% of Nigeria’s population lacking access to modern energy services, energy shortages and high costs limit economic development, exacerbating poverty and inequality. Global climate commitments, such as the Paris Agreement, add complexities, requiring Nigeria to shift toward cleaner energy sources. Additionally, the country’s reliance on fossil fuels increases vulnerability to international price fluctuations and environmental challenges. As Nigeria’s energy policies resonate across ECOWAS, regional energy integration initiatives, such as the West African Power Pool (WAPP), present opportunities to enhance energy security and consumer welfare. This study emphasizes the need for sustainable energy strategies that balance climate obligations with economic development to improve living standards across Nigeria and the broader ECOWAS region

    Research on Transformation Effect and Path Optimization of Scientific and Technological Achievements in Xi’an City: A Case Study of the Transformation Policy of Scientific and Technological Achievements of Qinchuangyuan Innovation-driven Platform

    This study examines the transformation efficiency and pathway optimization of scientific and technological achievements (STAs) in Xi’an, China, focusing on the Qinchuangyuan innovation-driven platform. Despite abundant scientific resources, Xi’an has long faced a sub-30% technology transfer rate due to institutional barriers such as ambiguous benefit distribution and insufficient market capital participation. Through the “three reforms” (separate management of STAs, professional title assessment for technology transfer talents, and utilization of horizontal research funds), Qinchuangyuan has addressed systemic bottlenecks, enabling a surge in technology contract transactions and growth in high-tech enterprises. However, challenges persist, including regional imbalances, over-reliance on government funding, and pricing ambiguities in technology valuation. Quantitative analysis reveals that institutional innovations such as the “use first, pay later” model and technology brokerage systems have reduced enterprise trial-and-error costs by 60.37%. The study proposes collaborative pathways: establishing cross-regional technology trading platforms, diversifying financing via market-oriented strategies (e.g., intellectual property securitization), and fostering “scientist + engineer” teams to bridge R&D-market gaps. These findings underscore the necessity of integrating policy facilitation, ecological aggregation, and chain coordination to overcome structural contradictions. The research offers a replicable framework for science-rich cities in western China, emphasizing institutional adaptability to transcend innovation models and achieve systemic coordination in regional innovation ecosystems

    Strategic Emotional Rhetoric in Political Social Media: A Comprehensive Analysis of Donald Trump’s Tweeting Patterns and Propagandistic Techniques in the Digital Age

    This study employs Python-based analysis to investigate how Donald Trump strategically leveraged propagandistic techniques and emotional rhetoric on Twitter (2009–2019) to shape public perception and advance his political agenda. Analyzing 43,913 original tweets through sentiment analysis, linguistic patterns, and temporal dynamics, we reveal Trump’s systematic use of name-calling (“fake”, “illegal”), glittering generalities (“greatness”), and plain folks appeals to cultivate a combative, relatable persona. Quantitative results show his preference for emotional punctuation (exclamation marks: 12,458), negative vocabulary (529 pejorative terms), and algorithm-optimized timing (e.g., breakfast hours) to amplify engagement. Temporal tweet patterns correlate with political milestones like his 2016 victory, illustrating digital rhetoric’s weaponization to bypass media gatekeepers. Applying promotional arts theory, we expose how emotional manipulation, algorithms, and propagandistic framing interact in political communication. Findings highlight Twitter as a battleground for symbolic reality, where simplified language, repetition, and adversarial narratives fuel polarization and in-group loyalty. This research advances political communication scholarship by elucidating how digital platforms enable leaders to exploit cognitive biases, emotional contagion, and algorithmic mechanics to redefine democratic discourse in the post-truth era
