The Development of Natural Adsorbents in the Context of Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality
Under the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, developing green and low-carbon technologies for pollutant control is of crucial importance. Natural adsorbents, with their advantages of wide availability, renewability, environmental friendliness, and low cost, demonstrate significant potential in the context of the dual carbon targets. This paper systematically examines the demand for adsorption technologies driven by the dual carbon strategy, analyzes the core advantages of natural adsorbents (such as biochar, clay minerals, and natural polymers), and focuses on elaborating the design strategies for natural adsorbents oriented toward efficient carbon capture and synergistic pollutant removal (including raw material selection and pretreatment, pore structure regulation, surface functional group modification, and composite preparation and modification). Additionally, it reviews the progress of their applications in fields such as atmospheric CO2 capture, removal of heavy metals/organic substances from water bodies, and soil remediation. Finally, in response to the challenges in the large-scale application of natural adsorbents, future development directions are proposed
Research on the Problems and Optimization of Informationization of Internal Audit in Engineering Projects under the Background of Big Data
Driven by the background of big data, the development of big data technology has led to a significant transformation in the internal audit of engineering projects. As a core link in the social economic supervision system, the importance of audit work has been continuously strengthened, and it has accelerated its evolution towards modernization through the integration of information technology and intelligent technology. As a branch of the audit field, the internal audit of engineering is no longer able to adapt to the current development trend. To enhance the efficiency of the internal audit of engineering projects, the introduction of big data technology has become a key approach. This informatization strategy not only optimizes the quality and efficiency of audit operations but also significantly enhances the construction of the unit's internal control system, marking the inevitable trend and practical demand of the development of the internal audit of engineering projects under the background of big data. This study focuses on the background of big data and aims to explore the construction path of the digital system of engineering internal audit, with the expectation of improving audit efficiency, optimizing risk prevention and control, and providing theoretical frameworks and practical references for both the academic and industrial communities
Teaching Semiparametric Modeling Based on R Programming: Expectile Regression in Monotonic Partially Linear Models
Instruction in the expectile regression estimation method for semiparametric partially linear models (PLMs) with monotonic constraints is a crucial component of graduate statistics courses. This paper demonstrates the R programming implementation of this estimation method using monotone B-spline approximation and provides a Monte Carlo simulation example for practical teaching purposes
Pandemic and Subjective Well-being. An Exploratory Study in an Urban Population and Moderator Effect from Cultural Participation
In the last twenty years a growing literature has highlighted the role of social and cultural activities in fostering individual and community well-being. The COVID-19 pandemic had an important impact on individuals and communities, given the lockdown policies enacted, causing the unexpected and forced abandonment of these activities. The present work investigated the impacts caused by the Covid-19, and the consequent suspension of all social and cultural opportunities, on individual subjective well-being.The analysis is based on two surveys: the first undertaken in January 2020 (t1), and a second carried out one year later in February 2021 (t2), on a sample (n 401) of a town lying in the metropolitan area of Milan (Italy). We used the PGWBI - Psychological General Well-Being Index to assess the psychological aspect and to measure the influence of the social and cultural dimensions.Overall, the results show an increase in psychological well-being between the t1 and t2 (2020: 62.99; 2021: 65.43). This slight increase is particularly associated with young people and individuals in the student/unemployed categories, where a significant change was recorded. These findings are somewhat counterintuitive in relation to the existing literature in the field. Regarding the impact of lockdown policies on the social and cultural dimensions, the analysis reveals a decline in social and cultural participation between T1 and T2, yet a concurrent positive effect on individual psychological well-being
A Study on the Pragmatic Functions of Hedges in Xinhuanet English News on Culture
Hedges, as an inherent phenomenon of natural language, are ubiquitous in news discourse. Drawing upon the theoretical framework of Adaptation Theory, this study constructs a specialized mini-corpus to investigate the pragmatic functions of hedging devices in Xinhuanet’s English-language cultural news reports. Quantitative and qualitative analyses reveal that hedges occur with high frequency, with adaptors and rounders constituting the dominant subtypes. The findings indicate that the strategic deployment of hedges not only foregrounds the epistemic rigor of journalistic texts but also accommodates the cognitive expectations and mental models of the target readership
Research on Image of Beijing Based on Calculation of Semantic Prosody Strength—Take Reports on the Work of the Government (2021-2025) of Beijing as Examples
A city’s projected image, particularly as articulated in official discourse, is a critical component of its public communication. This study examines the self-shaped image of Beijing by analyzing the official English Reports on the Work of the Government from 2021 to 2025 (59,916 tokens; 655 concordance lines of “beijing”). Using a corpus-based approach, we applied the syuzhet sentiment analysis algorithm to measure semantic prosody strength and conducted analysis of variance (ANOVA) to test for significant differences across six thematic categories. The findings reveal that while topics such as macro-level development and positioning appear most frequently, they tend to be described with a more neutral or moderate sentiment. In contrast, discussions related to citizen welfare, social services, and cultural development, though less frequent, are characterized by distinctly positive sentiment. These results indicate that the official reports construct an image of Beijing as a capable leader, an innovative center, and a caring and livable city. This research possesses significant theoretical and practical value. It demonstrates the utility of quantitative semantic prosody analysis for uncovering the city image in official policy discourse, providing a useful reference for future studies in city image construction

Multisource Transwriting Study on the Chinese Female Characters in Ha Jin’s Waiting
Multisource Transwriting refers to cross-linguistic and cross-cultural practices involving fragmented sources, where translating and writing are interwoven. Based on his military life on the northeastern border and his deep interaction with a military doctor’s family, Chinese-American writer Ha Jin intricately transwrote Chinese famale’s imagery in Waiting through the story of a military doctor, Kong Lin, struggling in eighteen-year emotional marriage. The misalignment between the signifiers of English symbols and the signifieds of Chinese culture in this text gives rise to translation, laying the foundation for discussions from the perspective of multisource transwriting. This paper takes Waiting as its research object and, relying on the theory of Multisource Transwriting, traces Ha Jin’s fragmented sources for transwriting traditional Chinese women images and analyzes the transwriting relationships within them. The study finds that Ha Jin’s creation was not based on a specific Chinese literary text but on multisource materials; translating and writing are interwoven, mutually interpreting and constructing each other as a gradient continuum of mutual expansion
Law and Financial Education
Thera are many notions of law, one is a set of rules and principles so as to protect dignity of the humankind. In our modern Western democratic societies everybody has the right to sell or buy, contract or offer services freely. Law discipline may protect those acitivities because everyone has the right to free choise of employment. Each personal can choise a way to earn money, this personal election is part of the nature of every human being. Professors of law may use some group dynamics in order to teach financial education. These activities seem to produce good results in students life, such as saving, investing and increasing money. Financial knowledge at universities tends to provide more intelectual resources so as to human beings manage assets in a better way. Investing money intelligently by humankind seems to everyone could live a better live. People deserve to flourish because of everybody is worthy
