Developing a Scale to Measure Empathic Embarrassment in Japanese Female University Students

    Get PDF
This study aims to develop a measure for empathic embarrassment among female Japanese university students. A total of 97 Japanese female university students rated 20 items. First, the factor structure of the Empathic Embarrassment Scale was examined using exploratory factor analysis, and the validity of this structure was evaluated via confirmatory factor analysis. The results showed that a two-factor model consisting of failure experience and self-centered behavior demonstrated the best fit

Research on the Composition of Kiwifruit Production Costs and Strategies for Enhancing Economic Returns

    Get PDF
Amid the ongoing structural reform of China’s agricultural supply side and the push for rural revitalization, kiwifruit emerges as a pivotal player in the nation’s high-value fruit industry. Its development is crucial for optimizing agricultural structures and boosting farmers’ incomes. This paper employs cost-benefit analysis, industrial organization theory, and comparative advantage theory to assess the kiwifruit sector. Using panel data from 28 key kiwifruit-producing regions in China spanning 2020 to 2025, it examines production cost structures and imbalances, quantifying each cost element’s impact on economic outcomes. Additionally, by comparing international competitors and assessing current industry conditions, the study identifies sustainable paths to enhance economic returns. Findings reveal that China’s kiwifruit production is characterized by “high labor and material costs, with insufficient investment in cold chain and technology.” Core factors impacting economic benefits include labor, fertilizer, pesticide, and post-harvest processing costs. While increased industrial concentration in major areas yields scale benefits, it also heightens price volatility risks. Furthermore, inadequate technological investment, weak brand value, and poor supply chain integration hinder benefit improvements. Therefore,to support the transformation of the Chinese kiwifruit industry from “scale expansion” to “quality and efficiency” ,targeted suggestions are proposed across three dimensions: optimizing elemental configuration, leveraging technological innovation, and reconstructing the supply chain. These strategies aim to enhance the industry’s core competitiveness by offering both theoretical insights and practical guidance

Translation of Science Fiction in Literary Periodicals in Modern China: Scientific Enlightenment and Recreational Entertainment—A Case Study of Short Story Magazine, The Saturday and Novel Times

    Get PDF
The publishing industry in modern China experienced a period of vigorous growth, accompanied by the proliferation of literary periodicals. These periodicals played a pivotal role in advancing the localization of science fiction in China through their active engagement in translating foreign science fiction works. This study conducts a systematic review of the translation and introduction practices of science fiction by major modern Chinese literary periodicals, namely Short Story Magazine [Xiaoshuo Yuebao], The Saturday [Libailiu] and Novel Times [Xiaoshuo Shibao]. It reveals that intellectuals leveraged the scientific knowledge, scientific spirit, as well as foreign cultures and ideas embedded in foreign science fiction to enlighten the public, broaden national perspectives, and refine social mores. Simultaneously, they acknowledged the recreational nature of science fiction as a form of popular literature, enabling it to fulfill the dual role of driving social reform while catering to readers' demands for leisure and entertainment

Operational Performance Analysis of Renewable Energy Integration in Nigeria’s Power Sector

    Get PDF
Given the increasing demand for electricity and the underperformance of the Nigerian power sector, this study examines the apparent situation of renewable energy integration in Nigeria’s power sector by analyzing the renewable energy generated over time, and the operational performance of the generated energy within the power system. Using both longitudinal and ex post facto research designs, secondary data obtained from both the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the International Renewable Energy Agency database were analyzed. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the data, while time-series forecasting based on an exponential smoothing method was applied to forecast future trends, and an independent sample t-test was applied to compare the performance metrics between renewable energy and gas generation in the power system. The findings indicate that Nigeria’s renewable energy, particularly hydro energy, remains dominant, but its electricity distribution is significantly below the installed capacity owing to infrastructure limitations and transmission constraints. In addition, off-grid solar photovoltaics are rapidly expanding. In general, the study indicates that the underperformance of renewable energy integrated into the power system is mainly operational and not resource-based and that there is a need for policy focus to shift from capacity expansion to system flexibility and grid reinforcement to achieve a reliable and sustainable electricity supply

The Moderating Effect of Proactive Personality on the Transition Shock and Career Self-confidence of Undergraduate Nursing Interns

    Get PDF
Objective: To explore the relationship among the Transition shock, proactive personality, and career self-confidence of undergraduate Nursing interns, and to examine the moderating mechanism of proactive personality between the Transition shock and career self - confidence, so as to offer a reference for relieving the role - transformation pressure and enhancing the career self-confidence of undergraduate Nursing interns. Methods: Convenience sampling was employed to conduct a survey on nursing undergraduates from four undergraduate institutions in Henan Province. Results: The mean score of the Transition shock of undergraduate Nursing interns was (2.81±0.58), with relatively higher scores in internship workload (3.09±0.60) and the conflict between theory and practice (2.87±0.63). The Transition shock was negatively correlated with career self - confidence (r = - 0.29, P < 0.01), and the interaction term of transformation shock and proactive personality could predict career self-confidence (β = 0.174, ΔR² = 0.023, P < 0.001). Conclusion: Proactive personality plays a positive moderating role in the relationship between the Transition shock and career self-confidence of undergraduate Nursing interns. That is, proactive personality can mitigate the negative influence of the Transition shock on career self-confidence

Rembrandt’s Painting “The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Tulp” Influences the Romanian Visual Artists

The painting “The anatomy lesson of dr. Tulp” is one of the most famous works by the Duch Rembrandt van Rijn. This is also one of the best representations of medical activities and education in fine arts. This outstanding painting was not only widely reproduced, but inspired other works of art. The aim of our paper is to present Romanian paintings influenced by this masterpiece. The Romanian visual artists are less visible, with few exceptions. However their work deserves to be visualized and disseminated

Research on Determining Liability for Traffic Accidents Involving Autonomous Vehicles

    Get PDF
As the commercialization of autonomous driving technology accelerates, related industries are undergoing unprecedented rapid development. Simultaneously, a series of traffic accidents caused by X Automobile’s autonomous driving system have exposed significant shortcomings in the existing traditional legal framework, particularly regarding the identification of liable parties. This issue not only challenges the current legal system but also impacts social governance and ethical concepts. Taking the 2016 fatal accident caused by X Automobile’s autonomous driving system as a representative case, this paper operates at the intersection of technology, law, and society. Employing comparative analysis, empirical research, and socio-legal methodologies, systematically examines the complex theoretical challenges in determining liability for autonomous driving accidents—including product liability, manufacturer obligations, algorithmic transparency, users’ reasonable reliance and duty of care, as well as insurance and compensation mechanisms. It explores potential pathways for institutional innovation to adapt to technological change at two levels: legal philosophy reform and institutional construction. This aims to provide theoretical reference for establishing a safe, fair, and forward-looking legal regulatory framework for autonomous driving
