AUTONOMOUS ENGLISH LEARNING THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN DIGITAL CONTEXTS WITHIN A CHINESE UNIVERSITY: PERSPECTIVES ON READINESS, DIGITAL LITERACY, AND EDUCATIONAL MANAGEMENT
In the context of digitalization, social media has become a prominent environment for informal English learning among university students, and its potential contribution to communicative competence development has drawn growing attention. However, how autonomous English learning in social media relates to communicative competence remains unclear. This study examines the relationship between autonomous English learning through social media (AEL) and communicative competence in digital contexts (CDC), with particular attention to the mediating roles of learner readiness and digital literacy and the moderating role of educational management. This study used a quantitative correlational design based on questionnaire data from 380 undergraduate students at a comprehensive university in Northeast China. Pearson correlation and mediation–moderation analyses were conducted using the PROCESS macro in SPSS.AEL was positively associated with CDC. This relationship is partially mediated by readiness and digital literacy, with digital literacy exerting a slightly stronger effect. Educational management also significantly moderates the relationship between AEL and CDC, with the association becoming stronger at higher levels of support.Overall, communicative competence in digital environments develops through the combined influence of autonomous learning engagement, psychological readiness, digital capabilities, and institutional support
Research on the Design of a Systematic Teaching Model Based on “Duifene” E-learning Platform: A Case Study of Macroeconomics
Driven by advances in digital and intelligent technologies, innovative teaching approaches have exerted profound impact on Lecture-Based Learning model. Such creative attempts have also been introduced into undergraduate Macroeconomics instruction. However, to date, these approaches have only targeted certain disciplinary characteristics of Macroeconomics and have failed to establish a comprehensive and systematic teaching model. This study starts with the accurate identification of major issues derived from student evaluation feedback on the conventional teaching model. Based upon these identified issues, four teaching modules integrating offline face-to-face instruction and online flexible learning are proposed to tackle the aforementioned problems. Subsequently, a complete implementation pathway for a systematic teaching model based on the “Duifene” e-learning platform is put forward. This systematic teaching model consists of a three‑dimensional blended teaching and learning system, as well as a comprehensive learning and evaluation system. Finally, an evaluation of teaching effectiveness of designed systematic teaching model along with an analysis of the challenges encountered in practical implementation and corresponding potential countermeasures are proposed
International Comparative Study on the Growth of Strategic Emerging Industries
As the core carrier of the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial reform, strategic emerging industries have become an important starting point for countries to seize the initiative in reshaping the global economic pattern. This paper selects four representative countries, the United States, Germany, Japan and China, and systematically compares the factual characteristics, antecedents, process mechanism and evolution path of the growth of strategic emerging industries. The research finds that: first, at the level of industrial layout, the four countries have formed a "multi habitat" development pattern in the United States, a "high-tech" development pattern in Germany, a "refined" development pattern in Japan and a "coordinated" development pattern in China based on their respective economic bases, resource endowments and development needs. Second, at the level of antecedents, digital infrastructure construction and fiscal and tax incentive policies constitute the key supporting environment for industrial growth. Among them, the construction of digital infrastructure shows the differentiation path of Chinese government leading, American market leading, government participation, German government leading and Japanese social traction; The fiscal and tax incentive policies are respectively reflected in China's emphasis on resource allocation and national strategic coordination, the United States' emphasis on the combination of pre support and post incentive, Germany's preference for long-term stable support, and Japan's focus on green industry guidance. Third, at the process mechanism level, innovation driven development and international development constitute the dual driving forces of industrial growth. In terms of innovation drive, China has formed an integrated innovation model, the United States has focused on disruptive innovation, Germany has promoted incremental innovation relying on the government, industry, University and research system, and Japan has driven open innovation with the "government, industry, University" integration mechanism; In terms of international development, China is characterized by a rising industrial chain driven by both policy and market. The United States relies on technological advantages to dominate global standards and industrial chain layout, Germany relies on industrial infrastructure to promote the deep integration of industrial chains, and Japan relies on government enterprise collaboration and multi-level policy support to achieve global expansion. Through international comparative research, this paper reveals the multi-path mode and system adaptation logic of the growth of strategic emerging industries, and provides a systematic analysis framework for understanding the development law of emerging industries in different countries
Research on “Pandemic” Education in Higher Education Institutions in Response to Major Public Health Emergencies
The COVID-19 pandemic represents a major public health disaster, causing the loss of loved ones, widespread fear and suffering, and significant economic damage. For higher education, however, the pandemic is both a crisis and an opportunity, as the most profound education often stems from students’ lived experiences. Amid this widespread outbreak, adult college students have deeply felt the threat of the virus, experienced the fragility of life, and recognized the vital importance of health. In response to the pandemic, higher education institutions should guide students to actively engage with pandemic-related information, understand the strengths of the centralized leadership of the Communist Party and China’s institutional advantages, and appreciate the power of the Chinese Spirit and collective strength
Research on the Digital Translation of Bamboo and Wood Intangible Cultural Symbols in Jiangxi from the Perspective of Cross-media Communication
Cross-media communication provides a new opportunity for the living inheritance of intangible cultural heritage, and also causes the problem of digital translation of cultural symbols to be overcome. This paper takes Jiangxi bamboo and wood intangible cultural heritage as an example to propose the connotation and extension of “bamboo and wood cultural symbols”, subdivides them into four aspects: material symbols, technical symbols, pattern symbols and functional symbols, analyzes their internal symbolic attributes and translation problems of cross-media communication, so as to construct a four-step digital translation model of “bamboo and wood cultural symbols” of “collection coding, translation mapping, scene reconstruction, and experience generation”, and discusses the importance of body participation in cultural symbol decoding and meaning generation from the perspective of embodied cognition. This paper further proposes a multi-directional symbol system hierarchical extraction strategy, an adaptation strategy for digital media translation, a scene experience construction strategy with physical participation, and a product development strategy for “bamboo and wood cultural and creative +” translation, which constitutes a relatively complete theoretical and methodological framework from symbol extraction, translation realization, scene landing, and value transformation. This study also responds to the practical requirements of the national cultural digitalization strategy and rural revitalization strategy, and has theoretical and practical significance for the transformation of Jiangxi bamboo and wood intangible cultural heritage from “cultural resources” to “cultural assets”, and can also be used as an analysis model for reference in the research on the dissemination of traditional handicraft intangible cultural heritage
Design and Application of an Automotive Engine Performance Virtual Simulation Software
"engine performance characteristics" constitutes the core teaching content of the course Engine Principles. Traditional teaching models typically separate theoretical instruction from practical training: theoretical teaching appears abstract due to the lack of dynamic demonstration tools, while experimental teaching is constrained by factors such as the number of equipment sets, space limitations, and safety risks, making it difficult to achieve hands-on operation for every student. Against this backdrop, this paper designs a lightweight virtual simulation teaching software for engine performance characteristics. Focusing on core experimental projects including speed characteristics, load characteristics, and universal characteristics, the software enables students to intuitively and safely explore the dynamic laws governing how engine performance parameters change with operating conditions through parametric modeling and interactive operations. The deep integration of this virtual simulation platform into theoretical classrooms has effectively addressed the challenge of "disconnection between theory and practice. This provides a feasible approach and empirical support for enhancing the effectiveness of theoretical teaching in the vehicle engineering discipline and for the reform of similar courses

Instant Weather Control for Efficient Sun Tracking
In our recent study [1], we presented the instrument instantly measuring the energy coming from sun with high precision. In the current study we discuss the efficiency of real-time measurements of sun intensity and how they should be organized to optimize solar PV tracking. We reviewed the operation of single-axis tracker systems (SATS) described by different institutions. Solar panels installed on SATS can generate an additional up to 35% energy per day compared to energy collected by fixed tilt systems. Although the movement of SATS does not consume a significant amount of energy per every 15˚ step, throughout the day it would be measurable amount of energy wasted. Sun tracking algorithms are often controlled by weather forecast over a given area. This forecast does not specify weather conditions at the local spot where the solar array is positioned. Most important, it does not produce real-time direct measurements of sun intensity. We developed the algorithm which records the direct energy of sun in the position “A”. When sun moves 15˚ step to position “B” our system measures simultaneously direct sun energy in “A” and “B”. The measurements sun energy is repeated every 10 seconds in both positions. In about 1 minute the measured values are averaged. With steady clouded skies or under conditions with fast moving clouds the measurements could be repeated for another 1 – 2 minutes. If position “B” would demonstrate that more energy (compare to position “A”) could be collected, the system will command sun tracker to “MOVE”. If due to weather conditions the sun’s irradiance in position “B” is not promising, the algorithm will “HOLD” panels in the position “A”. The current study offers instant weather control of sun tracking after a brief review of worldwide status of solar technology and trends of sun tracking
Cultural Guerrilla Warfare through Double Encoding: On the Dual Cultural Politics of Black Music in The Underground Railroad
Colson Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad positions Black music at the core of racial power dynamics through its narrative experiment in reconstructing the history of American slavery. This paper employs a “dual cultural politics” theoretical framework, integrating Foucault’s theory of discipline with perspectives from Black cultural studies, to analyze the dialectics of musical forms like work songs and spirituals within the novel. On one hand, white slave owners transform music into a “gentle violence” that disciplines the bodies of the enslaved and weakens their consciousness of resistance by controlling its rhythm, lyrics, and performance contexts. On the other hand, enslaved Africans adopted a “dual-coding” strategy to reconfigure musical meaning. Through metaphorical lyrics, collective rhythms, and improvisational variations, they transformed music into a covert medium for transmitting escape signals, sustaining cultural roots, and galvanizing resistance. This contradiction reveals the survival wisdom of Black culture within the context of slavery—within the cracks of power discipline, through the creative transformation of tools of oppression, they constructed a cultural space of resistance that neither detaches itself from the shackles of reality nor fails to break through the barriers of power
Research on Labor Teaching Strategies Oriented towards the Cultivation of Concepts
The concept of labor is a reflection of people’s own concepts in the field of labor, and it is a comprehensive understanding of the objective world established by people from the perspective of labor. The concept of labor is an important component of labor literacy. In the new era, attaching importance to labor education and the cultivation of the concept of labor can help correct students’ cognitive biases. The content system of college students’ labor concepts covers two aspects: labor cognition and labor awareness. In the process of conducting labor education and teaching, deepening teachers’ understanding of the value of concept teaching; re-planning labor teaching content; and conducting diversified teaching evaluations aimed at concept cultivation are effective strategies for promoting labor teaching that focuses on concept cultivation
