Management of Hotel Enterprises and the Economic Importance of the Human Factor

    No full text
As a customer-focused industry that caters to needs and wants, requirements, and the impact of intellectual capital in the production process, hotel enterprise management somehow focuses on the human factor. This study examines the ways in which effective HRM procedures can raise operational effectiveness, raise visitor satisfaction, and improve business performance in hotel environments. In order to cultivate brand loyalty and offer the greatest customer service possible, this practically obsessive industry— where high levels of human interaction are the norm—depends on the skills, dispositions, and morale of its workforce. Hotel management can foster a culture of excellence and empower team members to strive for excellence in their respective roles, thereby improving guest experiences. This can be achieved through the implementation of integral training programs. In a similar vein, fostering a culture of job positivity and appreciation at work reduces employee turnover. As a result, hiring expenses are reduced and service consistency is ensured. The article also covers the current issues that hotel businesses must deal with, such as changing guest expectations, managing a diverse workforce effectively, and integrating technology in an efficient manner. A strategy that prioritizes employee development and engagement is necessary to address this complex situation and achieve results by working with people who act based on emotion rather than just numbers or return on investment. The study concludes by restating the essential economic and strategic value of human resources. Hotel companies that recognize this and invest in their staff have a competitive advantage in the ever-changing hospitality industry and long-term business growth secured by their human capital

Biophilic Design in Architecture and its Side Effects: Potential Side Effects and Challenges of Biophilic Design

    No full text
Biophilic design in architecture aims to integrate natural elements into built environments to promote wellbeing and connectivity with nature. However, it presents several potential side effects and challenges. Maintenance issues arise as natural elements require regular upkeep, and without it, they can deteriorate and pose health hazards. High start-up costs and long-term maintenance charges can limit feasibility, while sensitivities as allergic reactions to plants and natural elements can cause to occupants’ health problems issues. Indoor gardens increased water usage can lead result to higher operational costs as well as concerns towards sustainability. Additional supports for large plants and water features can add complexity and cost construction. Also, maintaining desired temperature and humidity levels in a building add to the need for additional HVAC considerations. Natural elements act as a magnet for pests implying the need for pest control measures. Integrating biophilic design into dense urban environments presents spatial and infrastructural challenges that, if not properly managed, are difficult to maintain over the years

VERNACULAR ARCHITECTURE AND NATIONAL IDENTITY: BOSNIA AND MACEDONIA REVISITED

    No full text
Many scholars share the opinion that the creation of the national identity is considered to be one of the most ambitious projects, and is completed in different ways, such as through language, literature, new policies in everyday life and in education, in the production of new literature in art., etc. Others think that tradition also plays a part in being important as a means of creating identity. They even go so far as to say that even if it does not exist, it is their job to invent it, with the reason the same (invented) tradition to fulfill the ideals of the nation or the state itself. On the other hand, architects are convinced that architecture can be implicated in the construction of identity. Architects often highlight not only the potency of architecture to carry a political message, they insist on proving that architecture has a decisive role in creating a national identity. For this reason, the first part of this paper explores the implication of architecture and the political agenda (ideology) in the construction of the nation\u27s identity. Dusan Grabrijan as an architect explores Bosnian architecture and the way Bosnian architecture should be involved in creating national identity, especially after the WW2. The research primarily follows the writings of Grabrijan, through which the architectural wealth of Bosnia is first clarified and then this (national) architectural wealth is examined to be used in the agenda of creating national identity. The theoretical aspect examined by the architect will be conveyed through architectural examples. The second part of this paper clarifies the commitment (institutional) of Grabrijan in 1949 in the field research in Macedonia, to first identify the values of vernacular architecture, and then argue the thesis that its values are basis of the creation of national identity. If the latter is not strongly argued, Grabrijan, leave the path open so that in the future, other authors will make numerous attempts to create national identity through the architecture created over the centuries in the country. Recently, Grabrijan is used to draw the same parallel between architecture and political ideology in both Bosnia and Macedoni
