No full textThe priority of the Government of Kosovo, for integration into the European Union, is closely related to the Implementation Agreement for Stabilization and Association, namely Article 77, which obliges the Republic of Kosovo to create a functional system of copyright enforcement, where it is required to a similar level of protection to that of the EU countries is achieved within a five-year period and harmonization of the country\u27s legislation with that of the Acquis Communitare. The full harmonization of legislation with EU directives in the field of copyright, were fully transposed with the new legislation, as follows: Directive 2014/26/EU on Collective Management of copyright; EU Directive 2017/1564 on allowing certain uses for the needs of blind, visually impaired or other print users; EU Regulation 2017/1563 on cross-border exchange for the needs of persons who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise limited in print; EU Regulation 2017 EU Directive 2019/790 on Copyright and Related Rights in the Digital Single Market. The new law on copyright and related rights has regulate copyright and related rights, respectively, the relations arising from this field between different subjects. Also, the new Law ensures a high level of copyright protection, regulates the status of the Anti-Piracy Task Force, which consists of the Copyright Office, the Industrial Property Agency, the Kosovo Customs, the Market Inspectorate, Kosovo Police, and the Prosecution Council; provides opportunities for the resolution of copyright disputes through alternative means such as mediation and arbitration, improves the operating environment of copyright in the digital market, online platforms and cable television. The Artistic and Informative Functions of Facial Painting and Colors in Bridal Attire Across Various Ethnographic Regions
No full textThe artistic values of figures and colors used in the facial painting of brides and in various parts of women\u27s attire, on one hand, and the informative function of those figures used in facial painting, such as the sun, amulet, and serpent figures, and later their use in certain parts of the clothing, demonstrate the profound understanding of nature by the Albanian people. It shows how deeply they contemplated the future and how they depicted the life they wished for a marital couple through these figures and colors. The figures that were initially used in facial painting, following the onset of thread dyeing, were also incorporated into shirts, vests, waistcoats, socks, scarves, various woven items, etc. Through several concrete examples illustrated with photographs, we will present the similarities and convergences, including the symbolism and language, or the informative function that these figures possess. Only after being convinced that a figure or color met the demands and goals of their lives did these elements find a place in their folk craftsmanship
The Impact of Upper Extremities and the Eccentric Phase of Muscle Contraction on Jump Performance in U15 Volleyball Players
No full textAim: this study aims to evaluate the effect of concentric muscle contraction phases and upper body training on volleyball jump performance. It seeks to determine how improvements in technique and strength can enhance jump heights, specifically in the Countermovement Jump (CMJ) and Squat Jump (SJ), and to develop more effective training methods for volleyball players. Methods: the study involved 10 female volleyball players (U15) from KV Theranda, with an average height of 157.0 cm and weight of 48.8 kg. Body height and composition were measured using Tanita BC 545 N Innerscan scales. CMJ and SJ performance was assessed using the My Jump 3 app and a force platform. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26, with the Shapiro-Wilks test for normality and ANOVA to evaluate differences across testing periods. Results: results indicated statistically significant improvements in CMJ performance compared to SJ (p\u3c0.05). Factors contributing to better vertical jump performance included elastic force stored in the tendons during the eccentric phase and arm swing momentum. The difference between CMJ and SJ was approximately 70%, attributed to arm swing technique and tendon elasticity. Conclusion: CMJ demonstrated a clear advantage over SJ, largely due to elastic energy in the tendons and arm swing. The findings highlight the need for further research to distinguish between the effects of arm technique and tendon elasticity and to explore their individual contributions to jump performance
University of Tetovo in the framework of the SHAPE Project the Balkan Week of Sport (BWOS) and the European Week of Sport (EWOS): (Work in progress)
No full textAim: the Project is aimed to build-up a University Network on Sport in Western Balkans (WB), and design joint actions, in line with the wider European context and European Union (EU) recommendations and programs, to promote a healthy active lifestyle in the population, and to train sport professionals qualified in specific sport fields as applied to the different needs of health and society, contributing to a safer and enjoyable community environment, and to a peaceful social development. Methods: the current Project is aimed to overcome the limits of isolated actions and promote a collective, comprehensive effort to use the great potential of sport, in its various expressions, to help meeting the health and social needs of the Region and bring it closer to the rest of Europe. It is a 3-yr Erasmus Project (2024-2026). Partner Institutions: University of Tetovo, University of Sports of Tirana, State University of Prishtina, University of Elbasan, University of Shkodra, University of Rome Foro Italico Italy, and University of Vienna Austria. Results: a Balkan Week of Sport (BWOS) program is defined, focused on the Project’s health and social objectives, and on the EU overarching priorities. It is clarified that the program should focus as possible on health and social aspects related to the Network’s general objectives and particularly to EU key priorities (inclusion, integration of refugees, gender equality, environment, etc.). The BWOS program is conducted in September 2024 as part of the European Week of Sport (EWOS). In the project in packages 2 and 4 partners are the University of Tetovo, the University of Sports of Tirana and the University of Pristina. Each of the universities hosted pre-planned BWOS events during meetings in Tetovo, Tirana and Pristina. For the BWOS events, the institutions have published information that will serve to promote the project and for the benefit of society. Conclusion: in the framework of BWOS organized in Pristina, the University of Tetovo took part in sports activities through futsal. As part of EWOS, the University of Tetovo took part throughout the week with many activities such as table tennis, volleyball, futsal and a walk to the Tetovo Baths, where many students and citizens of Tetovo participated. These were the planned activities within the first year of the SHAPE project, hoping that in the next two years of the project we will continue with similar activities that will be undertaken in cooperation with partners based on the SHAPE plan
Development of an Android Application for Locating Geodetic Reference Points Using GPS Signals
No full textThe rapid development of mobile applications across various platforms has significantly impacted fields such as geodesy. This paper presents the development of a mobile application, RefNet.App, designed for the Android operating system using the Java programming language. The application aims to assist geodesists in locating reference points in Kosovo by leveraging the Global Positioning System (GPS). Through an intuitive interface, the application identifies the nearest reference points and provides a route to reach them, streamlining fieldwork and improving measurement accuracy. Additionally, the application facilitates comparison between different geodetic methods, specifically the ellipsoid and geoid models, enhancing the precision of geodetic surveys. This work contributes to the digital transformation in geodesy by offering an efficient tool that reduces time and effort in reference point localization. Future developments aim to expand the application\u27s functionality, including a search feature for any coordinates within Kosovo’s coordinate system, KosovaREF01
Morphological characterization of characters some culti-vars plum in Albania country
No full textPlums in our country are spread very early, they are very old, they have been spread since ancient times. According to the literature, the Pelaz-ges brought them to the Balkan peninsula 4000 years ago. Over the years, passionate people, farmers, farmers, later breeders, breeders, research, etc. have created new varieties of plums, some of them have the names of coun-tries and regions, such as Vlonjate plums, Tropojane plums, Elbasani double plums. Shengjinse plums, Gjatore plums, etc. There are varieties of plums that came from Macedonia, such as Vardare plums. Each plum name has its synonym according to the area where it is located. The study was carried out in the southern part of the country, in a Mediterranean and transitional Medi-terranean climate, in the central part of the country. The purpose of this study is to evaluation and characterization the general features of some plum varieties found in our country, mainly its biological characteristics. Features such as the phenological phases of the flowering, the phenological phases of the ripening fruit, and the colour flower, pomological traits, fruit weight, fruit diameter (width length), fruit shape, skin colour, etc. There is diversity in the colour of the pulpit, from green to yellow to red. It is noted that in the Prunus Salicina group, the kernel is connected to the pulp of the fruit, while in the Prunus Domestica group, the kernel is free. Prunus domestica and Prunus domestica is present in Albania country with their varieties. Due to the values it has in the organization, it is sought after in the market and is sold fresh, processed as jam, and in refrigerated and dry conditions, such as prunes. It is found throughout the year in the market in different forms. This way is tradi-tional for our country
Institutional Challenges in Kosovo\u27s Food Safety: A comparison with Croatia’s EU accession
No full textKosovo faces significant challenges in aligning food safety standards with those of the European Union (EU), a crucial component of its EU member-ship process. This paper explores the institutional challenges Kosovo faces in food safety governance by comparing its experience with Croatia\u27s successful alignment during its EU accession process. Through a comparative analysis, the research highlights Croatia’s multi-level governance, risk-based management, and incremental reform as models that Kosovo can adapt to improve food safety standards. The analysis draws on institutional change theories, such as path de-pendency, to explore how Kosovo’s historical and socio-political context influences its reform efforts. External pressures, including EU conditionality, com-bined with internal coordination and capacity-building, are identified as key driv-ers for successful institutional reform. The findings offer insights into how Ko-sovo can enhance its food safety governance, comply with EU standards, improve public health outcomes, and expand its access to international markets
Crop Quality Improvement with CRISPR/Cas9
No full textInserting, removing, or changing genomic DNA to improve a gene or produce a desired characteristic is known as genome editing. Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats, or CRISPR/Cas9, is the latest technique that has revolutionized science by editing genes in humans, animals, and plants. The system depends on the Cas9 endonuclease activity and the guide RNA\u27s (gRNA) complementarity to a specific sequence. Climatic changes and the ever-increasing population appear as challenging problems in terms of food in the future. Overcoming the barriers of problems is being achieved through CRISPR technology, which makes precise changes in genes, resulting in cultures with high nutritional values in vitamins, minerals, and proteins. This technique enables us to produce varieties resistant to biotic and abiotic stresses, eliminating the use of pesticides. Despite the remaining challenges to be resolved, it is believed that gene modification technology will be used more widely in the future and will inevitably play an important role in improving crop quality due to its simplicity, efficiency, and adaptability
Esophageal Varices in Patient with Myelodysplastic Syndrome: A Case Report
No full textOesophagal varices are abnormal expansions of the veins of the oesophagus, which can cause bleeding and be life- threatening. The causes of portal vein thrombosis include diseases with different etiologies of the liver. Myelodysplastic syn- drome (MDS) is a group of blood disorders characterised by ineffective hematopoiesis, producing malformed blood cells. Here we present a rare case where the consequence of esophageal varices is myelodysplastic syndrome. A 44-year-old female was admitted to our clinic due to pain in the right quadrant and lethargy. In the endoscopy, there were middle esophageal varices. A year ago, she had a band ligation of esophageal varices. She was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome 6 years ago. In com- puted tomography with angiography, there was partial thrombosis of v. portae. The varicose veins were ligation again and he was released from the hospital in good condition
