DOES CRUISE TOURISM DESTINATION BRANDING CONTRIBUTE TO ECONOMIC GROWTH IN PENANG, MALAYSIA?
Get PDFThis research note investigates the potential for economic growth in Penang, Malaysia, through strategic destination branding for the cruise tourism sector. Penang, a key economic hub, needs help fully harnessing its economic potential, with existing statistics indicating a troubling rise in the unemployment rate. This emphasises the need for effective economic interventions to promote growth and job creation. Despite these challenges, Penang possesses significant untapped potential in cruise tourism. The island's rich cultural heritage and strategic location make it an attractive destination, yet the number of cruise tourists still needs to grow compared to tourist arrivals. This disparity presents a unique opportunity to leverage cruise tourism destination branding as a catalyst for economic growth and employment generation. Penang could address these issues by aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8), which promotes sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. By addressing these issues, Penang could make significant strides towards achieving SDG 8, transforming the illusion of cruise tourism-driven economic development into a tangible opportunity
Upaya Penguatan Sumber Daya Manusia Pada Kegiatan Wisata di Kawasan Wisata Pesisir Katiet, Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai
No full textPenelitian ini menganalisis potensi pengembangan sumber daya manusia dalam sektor pariwisata di Dusun Katiet, Desa Bosua, Kecamatan Sipora Selatan, Pulau Sipora, Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Studi kualitatif dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus dengan mengumpulkan data melalui wawancara mendalam tidak terstruktur dan Focus Group Discussion dengan berbagai pemangku kepentingan lokal, termasuk pejabat pemerintah, fasilitator desa, dan kepala desa. Hasil pengumpulan dan analisis data primer menunjukkan bahwa meskipun Katiet memiliki potensi pariwisata yang signifikan terkait surfing, komunitas lokal belum sepenuhnya terlibat dalam kegiatan pariwisata. Infrastruktur pariwisata yang belum memadai dan kurangnya keterampilan masyarakat yang berkaitan dengan industri pariwisata menjadi tantangan utama yang dihadapi komunitas tersebut. Namun demikian, temuan ini juga mengungkapkan kesediaan yang tinggi untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan lokal melalui pelatihan, pendidikan, dan dukungan kelembagaan yang tepat. Hasil penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya penguatan kapasitas sumber daya manusia dalam konteks pariwisata untuk mendorong pengembangan berkelanjutan di Mentawai. Dengan memfokuskan pada pelatihan dan pendidikan, serta meningkatkan kerjasama antar pemangku kepentingan, penelitian ini berpotensi untuk memberikan kontribusi signifikan bagi pembangunan berkelanjutan dan kesejahteraan komunitas lokal. Analisis Semiotika Budaya Patriarki Dalam Novel Perempuan Yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam
Get PDFNovel adalah salah satu jenis karya sastra yang menyuguhkan suatu masalah secara kompleks dengan menggunakan bahasa secara jelas. Sebagai suatu karya sastra, novel mengeksplorasi berbagai permasalahan dalam kehidupan manusia secara mendalam, berkaitan dengan lingkungan sekitarnya. Oleh karena itu, novel dapat memengaruhi cara berpikir lingkungan sekitar. Secara tidak langsung novel dapat memberikan manfaat bagi semua pembaca, seperti pemecahan masalah dan penambahan wawasan baru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan representasi budaya patriarki dalam Novel Perempuan Yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam karya Dian Purnomo. Novel Perempuan Yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam mengangkat isu kawin tangkap di Sumba yang sangat merugikan kaum perempuan. Penelitian ini membahas representasi budaya patriarki yang difokuskan pada bentuk dan susunan teori patriarki menurut Walby melalui teks dan dialog dalam novel. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis Semiotika Ferdinand De Saussure yang melibatkan 4 (empat) konsep yakni signifier-signified, langueparole, sintagmatik-paradigmatik dan sinkroni-diakroni yang difokuskan pada 2 (dua) bentuk patriarki menurut Walby yakni patriarki publik dan privat, serta 5 (lima) susunan teori patriarki menurut Walby diantaranya, (1) Relasi produksi patriarki dalam keluarga (2) Relasi patriarki dalam pekerjaan dengan upah (3) Kekerasan laki-laki (4) Relasi patriarki dalam seksualitas (5) Relasi patriarki dalam lembaga budaya
Regulasi Emosi Kognitif dan Stres pada Era Kenormalan Baru Covid-19
Get PDF“Era kenormalan baru” ditandai dengan peralihan mobilitas dimana individu kembali mulai beraktivitas di luar rumah dengan menerapkan protokol kesehatan 3M, dimana perubahan tersebut dapat memicu berbagai respon psikologis, salah satunya adalah stres. Individu lalu diharapkan dapat melakukan koping untuk meredakan dampak stres yang jika berlangsung lebih lama dapat mengakibatkan masalah psikologis yang lebih serius. Regulasi emosi kognitif sebagai salah satu koping yang dapat dilakukan, sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran regulasi emosi kognitif terhadap stres pada era kenormalan baru COVID-19. Penelitian ini juga melihat peran masing-masing dimensi regulasi emosi kognitif terhadap stres. Partisipan penelitian berjumlah 204 orang berusia 20 - 60 tahun dengan teknik sampling acak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi linear. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan regulasi emosi kognitif berperan terhadap stres pada era kenormalan baru COVID-19 (p < 0,05) dengan koefisien regresi sebesar -0,230. Sumbangan efektif sebesar 13,6% sehingga semakin tinggi skor regulasi emosi kognitif, maka ada kemungkinan semakin rendah skor stres pada era kenormalan baru COVID-19. Positive refocusing adalah dimensi regulasi emosi kognitif dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,046 (p<0,05) dan sumbangan efektif sebesar 4,072% terhadap stres. Faktor demografis dan teori stres yang digunakan dapat ditinjau untuk penelitian selanjutnya

Information about Omnibus Law (UU Cipta Kerja) has been growing rapidly on social media since the popularity of the hash-tag increased. Unfortunately, the popularity of this hash-tag has made various information without references (hoaxes) which further confuses the original essence of the Movement. Based on that, The overall study objective is to find out how the false reality created by the hash-tag #gagalkanomnibuslaw is able to move the mass. This is a qualitative study using Jean Baudrillard’s concept of simulacra to analyze the case. The result shows that the participants of the movement were trapped in simulacra, where the false reality of the information in cyberspace was used as a reference in carrying out both virtual and nonvirtual protest
A Comparative Analysis of Chinese and Indonesian Taste Metaphors
Get PDFMetaphor is a figure of speech in language. Lakoff and Johnson believe that we can use metaphors to understand the world because metaphors are conceptual systems in human daily life. Taste is one of the basic senses. Only with sense can we feel delicious food. After taste passes through metaphor, it will create words for other abstract concepts. This article aims to understand the metaphorical meanings of basic Chinese and Indonesian taste words, the similarities and differences in the field of metaphor mapping, and the main factors. This article takes the four basic taste words (sweet, bitter, sour, spicy) in Chinese and Indonesian as the research object. Through research, we found that there are some similarities and differences in the metaphorical meanings and metaphorical mapping fields of basic Chinese and Indonesian taste words. For example, the mapping fields of the same taste metaphor words have different metaphorical meanings; the mapping fields of the same taste metaphor words have the same metaphorical meaning; similarly Taste words have different metaphorical meanings; same taste words have the same metaphorical meaning. This study also found that the main factors affecting the similarities and differences of Indonesian taste metaphors are human physiological basis, cognition and thinking styles, and dietary cultural habits

That is why many people open food stalls, especially chicken noodle stalls. The purpose of this study is to find out and analyze the business feasibility of the asymie chicken noodle shop. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The data obtained is in the form of primary data, namely interviews and secondary data, namely observation. The research was conducted at Asymie Wonopringgo Chicken Noodle Warung. The results of the study show that when viewed from the market and marketing aspects according to the feasibility study, the asymie chicken noodle shop is very good. This can be seen from the good service, the many facilities and the characteristics of the product with full chicken meat topping provided by the Asymie chicken noodle shop. In addition, the price offered is also affordable for consumers of all ages according to the market segment and the promotion is carried out very well, namely through WhatsApp Story

The results of the tests carried out show that the effect. price and facilities to the decision. stayed at Aloft Hotel Jakarta Wahid Hasyim by 67.3%. The influence given is included in the strong category. From the results of partial testing (T test) on the variable price of 5.573 and facilities of 7.381. Test result. in a manner. simultaneous (F test) on both variables of 133.745, where the variables have a significant influence on the decision to stay. The conclusion of this study is the price and facilities it has. Influence on the decision to stay. With a price that is in accordance with the facilities obtained will make consumers decide to stay. Business activities can play a role in increasing income, but also in various business structures in society. Entrepreneurship can also be the development of an interest in creativity and the courage to take risks for the work done in order to achieve the best results. Activities can be carried out properly by changing the pattern of exposure, namely by doing a more in-depth explanation. This community service activity is aimed at high school students and female students. It is hoped that by holding this activity it will be able to increase the interest of students in applying the entrepreneurship knowledge they got at school. The activity is carried out through online media zoom but still does not reduce the quality of the presentation where the presentation of introductory material about entrepreneurship in the tourism sector is made as active as possible by starting with an explanation about entrepreneurship and then continuing by giving several examples of entrepreneurial activities in the tourism sector to make it easier for students to get material. Based on the calculation of the average results of the feedback given as many as 40 students in the Educative category of 77% (Good) from this category it is hoped that the educativeness of the students can increase, and in terms of Objective it is 78% (Good) where is in accordance with what is expected, in terms of Accountability by 78% (Good), Transparent by 76% (Good)

Get PDFThe progress of the world of photography in Indonesia has not only made photography a hobby, even photography has become a hobby that can produce both commercially and with prestige. Producing photographic works is not enough just to take a photo framing of an object in a sense (feeling), but an appropriate method is needed so that photography enthusiasts can practice it. This research focuses on the analysis of photographic composition through the study of composition according to "Brenda Tharp" in his book entitled Expressive Nature Photography, but what is interesting is that this research also examines the design composition. The development of photography in Indonesia, especially the works of a female photographer named Veronica Saver, really inspires novice photographers with her beautiful works to document many photos that have won prestigious awards. As one of the representatives of Indonesian photographers, Veronica Saver has succeeded in becoming one of the winners of GPA International Salon Photo 2021. This research will be carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner from several of Veronica Saver's photography works that have been published in GPA International Salon Photo 2021, the author wants to analyze to what extent the role of visual composition in photography as well as in visual design composition. It takes a study that can analyze this directly, which is expected to be a learning reference for beginner photographers in Indonesia
