The influence Of whatsapp usage on persuasive communication in romantic relationships: A study among Indonesian Generation Z

    Get PDF
The digital revolution has reshaped how people communicate and establish relationships. This study aims to explore the nuanced dynamics of romantic relationships within the instant messaging platform WhatsApp, which is highly popular among Generation Z users in Indonesia. The research questions focus on how Generation Z utilizes WhatsApp to build and maintain romantic relationships, and how persuasive communication in romantic relationships is formed through this platform. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 308 university students aged 18-24 years. The findings reveal that WhatsApp usage significantly influences persuasive communication in Generation Z romantic relationships, explaining 37.8% of the variance across all dimensions. The platform demonstrates its strongest impact on security and trust (R² = 0.444), followed by expressions of attention and affection (R² = 0.398) and expressions of love (R² = 0.371), while showing more limited effectiveness in conflict resolution contexts (R² = 0.181). The Technology Acceptance Model dimensions show that perceived ease of use correlates more strongly with persuasive outcomes than perceived usefulness, suggesting that interface experience takes precedence for digital natives. These patterns support Social Judgment Theory, indicating that Generation Z exhibits a high latitude of acceptance for using WhatsApp for affection expression and trust-building, but a higher latitude of rejection for conflict resolution. The findings suggest that while WhatsApp effectively facilitates expressing affection and building security in relationships, the platform has limitations in resolving conflicts, which may still require face-to-face interaction for more effective outcomes

    Get PDF
This research explores how Generation Z perceives learning English pronunciation using the social media platform TikTok.  Generation Z is known for its familiarity with technology and social media, including TikTok, which is incredibly popular among them. The main objective of this research is to understand how Generation Z perceives and engages with TikTok as a tool for learning English pronunciation, as well as the challenges and opportunities they encounter. The participants in this study were 10th-grade students from SMKN 3 Bojonegoro who were studying PSPT 1 and 2. The research utilized a qualitative approach, combining questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews to gather comprehensive data on the students' experiences with using TikTok videos to learn English pronunciation. The results revealed that TikTok is a preferred platform for students to practice English, with 58.6% of students feeling comfortable using TikTok for pronunciation practice. Additionally, 63.8% of students stated that TikTok boosted their self-confidence in practicing English pronunciation. The platform offers opportunities for students to practice English in a relaxed, flexible, and engaging manner, thereby increasing motivation. However, the study also identified some challenges and obstacles faced by students, such as being easily distracted by entertainment content, which can lead to a lack of focus, as well as a lack of direct feedback for error correction. In conclusion, this research suggests that TikTok can be an effective tool for Generation Z to learn English pronunciation, as long as engaging and collaborative content is utilized. It is hoped that these findings will contribute to the development of more modern and interactive language learning methods on digital platforms like TikTok

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze local tourists’ perceptions of the service quality of food vendors in the Tamendao culinary area, Gorontalo City. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed, utilizing the SERVQUAL model which includes five core dimensions: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents, supported by non-participant observation. The results revealed that all service dimensions showed negative GAP values between tourists’ perceptions and expectations. The reliability dimension had the highest GAP (-0.60), followed by empathy (-0.50), while tangibles, responsiveness, and assurance also displayed service gaps, though to a lesser extent. These findings indicate that the current service quality does not fully meet the expectations of local tourists. To address this, service improvement strategies are recommended, including regular vendor training, the implementation of standardized service procedures, physical infrastructure upgrades, and the provision of incentives for outstanding vendors. This study is expected to contribute to the development of Wisata Kuliner Tamendao as a culinary tourism destination based on customer experience

Gen Z’s Adoption of Investment Platforms: The Roles of Awareness, Literacy, and Risk Perceptions

    Get PDF
The rapid proliferation of stock investment applications in Indonesia has not been matched by consistent adoption among Generation Z, revealing a research gap in understanding how psychological and risk-related factors shape the transition from awareness to actual usage. This study aims to examine the effects of awareness, financial literacy, and perceptions of reliability, security, and risk on Gen Z’s adoption of stock applications in urban contexts. A quantitative approach was employed through a survey of 130 Gen Z respondents and analysed using the PLS-SEM method. Results show that awareness enhances financial literacy and perceptions of reliability and risk but does not directly influence adoption. Reliability, security, and risk factors significantly affect adoption behavior and mediate the awareness–adoption link, while financial literacy does not function as a mediator. Theoretically, this study advances the UTAUT framework by integrating risk perception as a critical determinant of financial technology adoption. Managerially, the findings highlight that FinTech providers should enhance transparency of security features, foster trust-based communities, and design targeted digital education to encourage sustained adoption. Regulators may leverage these insights to implement consumer protection policies that strengthen trust and risk management, thereby accelerating the shift from awareness toward consistent usage of investment platforms

    Get PDF
Community service provides various opportunities for academicians to disseminate knowledge and contribute to the development of society. In August 2024, the UBM Management Program contributed to community service at Kesatuan High School in Bogor, West Java, in a workshop on branding strategy. The growing attention towards developing entrepreneurial capabilities at a young age has motivated educators to incorporate entrepreneurship development programs in schools. Kesatuan High School is one of the high schools that included a creative entrepreneur development program in its 10th-grade curriculum. The community service in this article adopts several research methods, including a literature review and a combined qualitative-quantitative analysis. The lecturer began the workshop by explaining Schumpeter’s entrepreneurship theory as the foundational concept of the role of entrepreneurs. Creative entrepreneurs are essential to be able to solve management problems, combine resources and processes in different manners to build competitive advantage. Summarizing from various sources, students learned that products refer to tangible attributes, while brands refer to the intangible attributes offered by the business. Based on the descriptive analyses, the feedback survey found that the overall score for the workshop was 3.075 out of 4.00, which demonstrated positive feedback from workshop participants. Regardless of the slight variances between the feedback components, the scores indicate that the workshop was delivered optimally and in line with the predetermined objectives. Hence, this community service exemplifies an alternative model for faculty members to share knowledge and contribute to improving the learning experience as well as advancing high school educatio

Prediction of Export Volume in South Sulawesi Based on Destination Country Using the BPNN Method

    No full text
This study aims to develop a prediction model for South Sulawesi's export volume based on destination countries using the Backpropagation Neural Network (BPNN) method. South Sulawesi has a significant contribution in the export of agricultural, marine, and mining commodities to various Asian and global countries. Common problems in the export process are unpreparedness of goods, limited commodity stocks, and a mismatch between production capacity and destination market demand. The export data used is from 2018 to 2026 with a total of 1,555 rows of data . The BPNN model with a 6-6-1 architecture is applied to study historical patterns and make accurate predictions. The test results show a Mean Squared Error (MSE) value of 0.0161440, with prediction results close to the actual trend. Exports peaked at almost 40 tons in 2019 and decreased significantly in 2023, then are predicted to recover steadily in 2025–2026. The destination countries with the highest export volumes are China, Japan, and East and Southeast Asian countries. The main commodities contributing significantly are octopus, processed wood, and marine products. These findings demonstrate that the BPNN method is effective in identifying export patterns and can be used as a basis for data-driven trade planning at the regional level. This study also underscores the importance of logistical readiness and market diversification in efforts to maintain export sustainability.
